Was busy today sorting through loads of knick knacks and things we've accumlated but no longer need, and was taking photographs of them for adverts on Gumtree. I didnt intend to use these as my 365 shot, but forgot to take of photo of anything else.

So, here is a 1972 promotional Toyota Crown Ma-reine cigarette lighter in original box. "Made in Japan" and 09032 stamped on the bottom. VGC open to offers :)

A very rare beast. I'd have to find out more from the Toyota Enthusiasts club (one guy is very knowledgable on crown affairs) to find how many S50's survive but I'd imagine very few if any wagon models would be known to them. This represented the top of the Toyota range, it featured some interesting unique showroom tricks, including an electrically operated rear window lifts, a side open tailgate and like the 504 estate, ability to seat 7 people. Toyota imported the car soon after its introduction in 1967 and this would have been one of the last S50 models imported as the replacement, relatively speaking the more common, S60 (with the indicators mounted on the bonnet) replaced it. Domestic versions included a pick up and 2 door coupe and 4 door crew cab versions, all of which I believe were not imported here. Crowns of this age are highly prized both in the UK and Japan for different reasons, banger racers have an affinity for these cars, while in Japan many are subtly customised.

I snapped this in a surrey scrapyard in 1997, unfortunately when I returned 4 years later the car had disappeared, more likely crushed rather than removed as the yard contained stolen cars, which were not allowed by law to be removed. My only regret is not taking more snaps of it, but the yard had so many interesting cars, I had to be frugal with my exposures.

This looked like it was being used as a van.

This is the 2nd generation of crown which was sold here. Much loved by Banger racers, and of an era when Toyota had some distinctive designs in their range.

say hellooo to my new car :)

Is this a Corolla? The DVLA seems to think so, but I can't find one like it on the internet. Looks a bit like the 90's Levin Coupe from the front, so maybe related. Looks to have been here for a while anyway, no tax since 2009 and no MOT since 2008. Perhaps it was the minor accident damage that saw it come off the road.

Another of those "why is that here?" cars. A hatchback version behind it, possibly an XT. Have fun seeing what else you can identify!

Cover of Toyota GB Ltd brochure ref. LC/10/75. Scanned to accompany the John Powell photo I recently uploaded.

Much of the brochure is dedicated to the Station Wagon, but I don't know if it was sold in the UK for very long.

The example photographed does appear to be a UK car, with a tax disc visible in the windscreen.

There is a stamp on the rear of this copy from Autocars London Ltd of 300 Brixton Hill, London. That vaguely rings a bell, it might have been discussed on another photo on here recently? Location here, I believe: goo.gl/maps/HwRjsS4KuVt

Operated by the Royal Navy Bomb Disposal Unit and seen on the M4 in Newport.

I can find no trace of the reg plate on DVLA etc..
