Fogged in while visiting San Simeon, California. It made no difference to the happiness that we felt just being there. IPhone 6+ and processed with Snapseed, TouchRetouch, and Instaflash Pro.
This is a Hipstamatic image using the Madelena Lens and Uchitel 20 Film. In post processing TouchRetouch was used to remove unwanted details and then in ImageBlender layers were used to enhance the light.
This image is the result of being in the right place at the right time. I was on my way to Upper Geyser Basin in Yellowstone National Park. It was rainy, windy, and thick clouds covered the area. Across a broad meadow were these thermal vents and geyser. A break in the clouds put sunlight directly on that area, lighting up the steam yet leaving the background dark and moody. I immediately pulled to the roadside, jumped out of the car, and got two shots before the scene faded.

They flew low over the beach---so many of them, darting through winds whipped by Hurricane Sandy's approach. I thought they'd eluded me with their swiftness, but here they lit and here they stood, resolute, until I could traverse the span of beach that stretched between us.
They were fearlessly planted. I imagined they might be part way through a journey, requiring their rest.
I am thankful for moments like this when everything seems to stand still...and I am allowed the pleasure of feeling it.
Today begins my 'gratitude project' for November. I have so much unexpressed gratitude. I like to take this month to focus on expressing just some of it.
