This sunset was taken over the northern most end of the Tucson Mountain range in Tucson Arizona. The cloud levels and formations provided a spectacular light show.
I snaped thirty some images of this event. They all turned out quite nicely. So the difficulty is, trying to decide what to post. I should probably just take one or two ...

I always love the water shots that show the foreground as clearly as the back ... in my neck of the woods I don't have a lot of opportunities for those types of shots ... so here's a Southwest version!.
Here is a slide show of some of my photos showing them a bit more true in clarity and color if and when you have some moments. Just click on the link and within a couple of seconds the top bar will vanish and the show will start.

We just got back from our Southwest road trip! We saw such expansive desert beauty. We also spent most of our week battling snow storms, rain storms, and wind storms. Temperatures for this time of year were at almost record-breaking lows (we saw -2F at one point). We made the best of it though and had so many memorable adventures. Things weren't always "ideal" but that also offered us some pretty unique experiences and photos.
This shot is from Lower Antelope Canyon in Page, AZ. It was as spectacular in person as it looks in photos. My jaw literally dropped when we climbed inside. I'm excited to play with these shots in black and white too...

Southwest Florida clouds- “Fire Rainbows” are neither fire, nor rainbows, but are so called because of their brilliant pastel colors and flame like appearance. Hexagon shaped ice crystals gets split into individual colors just like in a prism. This image was snapped two weeks ago.

An image. Figurative or abstract. An idea to create our own world. Images.
I'd had no particular interest in the Southwest at all as a young girl, and I was completely surprised that the desert stole my heart to the extent it did.

Another Textured image. Found this cool fence decoration while Nick and I were driving around town. I wish this picture were straight and not cut off but even so I still think it looks pretty good.
UPDATE: I straightened it in Picnik

The Southwest Reservoir Bridge was built by Calvert Vaux in 1864. It was taken apart, repaired and reconstructed in 1979. Located on a park path at the 86th street area of Central Park, this arch bridge was constructed of cast iron and steel.
Central Park is a large park (843 acres, 3.41 sq, km) in midtown Manhattan. Established in 1857, it was designed by Frederick Law Olmstead (American) and Calvert Vaux (English). Central Park, visited by over 37.5 million people annually, offers almost every type of outdoor activity.
liked the tiles, tones and details in this view...
just after taking this shot, security came by and escorted me to the main office so that I could get 'permission to photograph the premises'... it was all kind of comical but I guess they thought I was trying to obtain images of their facility for professional uses.

Southwest Sky. Capitol Reef National Park, Utah. October 22, 2014. :copyright: Copyright 2014 G Dan Mitchell - all rights reserved.
Morning clouds above the landscape of Capitol Reef National Park
On this October morning we were up early, but not quite early enough — though it turned out fine in the end. We awoke before sunrise, with a plan to head down along the east side of Capitol Reef National Park along the Waterpocket Fold. We hoped to be a good distance down this route when the sun rose, but we got up later than expected. We were far from our goal when the dawn arrived.
Our location was, in some ways, not the spectacular sort of place that we had envisioned for sunrise. However, there were absolutely beautiful clouds to our north, and the dawn light's color could probably make any subject look good. So our immediate goal became quickly finding any place that looked like it might have photographic potential — and to find it NOW! Within a few minutes we found a short side road, drove a short distance to a hilltop, parked, and piled out of the vehicle, more or less already in the act of setting up tripods and cameras. We had only a few moments on special light on the clouds before it began to fade to daytime light.

I continually monitored updates for wildflower blooms in the fields above Flagstaff, this summer, but it appeared to be a very small blooming season this year, especially in the higher elevations. Even so, I was determined to find some color to photograph during a late summer sunset, so I visited an area close to Sunset Crater, to look for something of interest. While, not the foreground I envisioned, sunset provided some pretty color and light, which made the trip worthwhile.
