the new TRUMP sign that Chicago's mayor is displeased with..... maybe he should worry about some more important issues

Taken at the Chicago protests, where tensions continue over the shooting death of Laquan McDonald by the police and many call for the resignations of the mayor, Rahm Emanuel and the State's Attorney, Anita Alvarez.

On the banner, which stretched for blocks are the names of those who have been victims of police brutality, both alleged and confirmed.

Obama White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel

An opening ceremony was held by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and CTA President Forrest Claypool earlier today to celebrate the opening of the brand new Cermak-McCormick Place station on the Green Line! This new station serves McCormick Place, the growing area near historic Motor Row and provide a crucial additional transportation option for the Near South Side.

The station, with entrances on both sides of Cermak and at 23rd Street has two elevators, an island platform (featuring full canopy coverage, heaters, and benches), bright lighting, security cameras, new static and digital signage, a Divvy station and plenty of bicycle parking.

The station also has art in the form of eight, 4'x12' panels by Bronzeville-native artist Hebru Brantley who casts his own comic book-style characters to celebrate the nearby Motor Row Lankmark District. Motor Row once had the nation's largest concentration of car dealerships and was also home to the Chess Records recording studio and the Chicago Defender newspaper.

The new station, part of $4 billion in transit investments announced by Mayor Emanuel since 2011, is located near the intersection of Cermak Road and State Street will provide much-needed access to rapid transit for Near South Side residents and businesses. It fills in a major gap in CTA service that has existed in the 2.5 mile stretch between Roosevelt and 35th/IIT stations since the previous Cermak station at that location was demolished in 1977.

" Our race is the master race. We Jews are divine gods on this planet. We are as different from the inferior races as they are from insects. In fact, compared to our race, other races are beasts and animals, cattle at best. Other races are considered as human excrement.

Our destiny is to rule over the inferior races. Our earthly kingdom will be ruled by our leader with a rod of iron. The masses will lick our feet and serve us as our slaves. "

( 1977 - 1983 ) In a speech to the Knesset.............

GO HERE...........

So many children being violently murdered in Chicago. People will say it's everywhere, not just Chicago, but it's happening here at a rate that dwarfs any other place I know of. Something is deeply wrong with the soul of this place, maybe even that it's lost it's soul. Maybe it's the poverty, or the social marginalization of too many, or the young ones who see no way out of their hell. Every one of these killings, and they're occurring daily now, puts me in a place that I can't properly define, but it's overwhelming. This one simply broke me, but it's been mounting and mounting. I'm not sure why I felt I had to go to this place where this horrible thing happened, where this precious young life so violently ended, but I had to go. We brought flowers for what I was sure would be a very large makeshift memorial yet we could not find it and the newspapers did not disclose the exact address. The neighborhood is very nice, less than a mile from Mayor Rahm Emanuel's house. We stopped a young professional couple exiting their house to ask if they knew which building the girl lived in, "the young girl who was murdered three days ago." They had no idea what I was asking about, said they knew nothing about it. Just then my wife spotted a single bouquet of flowers tied to a gate directly across the street. Literally right across the street and they knew nothing about what had happened there.

Is this for real? Someone (Rahm Emanuel please) pinch me!! Crush time extreme in the white house.

Rahm Emanuel gives the thumbs up. Again, for the speech or for the bow?

They're All in This Together

By Alfred S. Regnery from the September 2011

Asked during the 2008 presidential campaign about his relationship with the left-wing radical Bill Ayers, Barack Obama replied that Ayers was just "a guy who lives in my neighborhood." He implied that to even bring that questionable relationship out of the shadows was a mean-spirited, guilt-by-association political tactic. Ayers, Obama went on, had done something deplorable "forty years ago when I was six or seven years old."

Otherwise, Obama insisted, Ayers was a paragon of virtue: a respectable fixture in mainstream Chicago, a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, on a foundation board focused on education that included "Republicans, bankers, lawyers." Ayers had even worked for, and was a good friend of, Mayor Richard M. Daley. The Obama campaign at once launched a crusade to distance Obama from Ayers. It went so far as to actually defend the man who had implicated himself in terror bombings in his own 2001 memoir, Fugitive Days.

In fact, Ayers and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, were radical Marxist revolutionaries in the Vietnam War era. They were founders of the Weather Underground, a violent terrorist arm of Students for a Democratic Society. Both were eventually indicted in federal court, and Dohrn by the State of Illinois. Rather than face a trial they jumped bail and disappeared into the underground in 1970. After they resurfaced 11 years later, both were admitted into the halls of academia. Ayers became a Distinguished Professor of Education and a Senior University Scholar at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Incredibly, Dohrn became a law professor at Northwestern.

The American Spectator has developed information that demonstrates, without any doubt, that Ayers and Dohrn have spent a lifetime advocating and practicing the strategies and tactics of Marxism. That includes the violent overthrow of the United States government. It also involves treasonous cooperation with revolutionary Communist governments in China, North Vietnam, and Cuba during the 1960s and '70s and, until the fall of the Eastern Bloc, governments in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. But unlike many of their compatriots from those days of violence and turmoil, Ayers and Dohrn are completely unrepentant about their past activities. To this day, they continue to support destruction of the American free enterprise system and its replacement with a Marxist utopia.

What, then, is the relationship between these two hard-core leftist revolutionaries and the president of the United States, and why is it important?

It is important, first, because Obama, along with Ayers and Dohrn, went to great lengths to mislead voters during the fall of 2008. They "just lived in the same neighborhood" and had little contact, they pretended. On the contrary, The American Spectator's investigation has concluded that Obama and his campaign staff, with the help of the mainstream media, lied outright about his relationship with Ayers. It has also concluded that Ayers lied about it as well. The Ayers-Obama association is far deeper, longer, and more significant than was ever acknowledged during the campaign.

The relationship is important, second, because Ayers and Dohrn are not reformed former radicals who have abandoned their old habits. Indeed, they are unrepentant, violent radicals who may have adopted new tactics to upend the United States and what it stands for, but whose goals remain just what they were in 1970.

Furthermore, the relationship is important because of the policies and issues that both Ayers and, to a lesser degree, Dohrn worked on with Obama during the 20 years preceding his election to the presidency. These include education reform, juvenile justice, ACORN, and community organizing, among others. Taken together, they demonstrate the extent to which these hard-core left-wingers influenced today's president of the United States.

Finally, it is important because of Ayers's relationship, through his powerful businessman father, with Chicago's Daley family, who happen to be among the most ardent Obama supporters and promoters. As Chicago's state's attorney, Richard M. Daley presided over the plea bargain for Dohrn when she surfaced from the underground. He later continued to support Ayers and Dohrn during his long tenure as mayor of Chicago from 1989 to 2011. Daley even launched an unapologetic defense of Ayers when the relationship with Obama was exposed during the 2008 campaign.

BILL AYERS is a limousine revolutionary. He was born into a wealthy Chicago family, raised in the leafy western Chicago suburbs, educated at the best schools, and benefited from connections and privilege wherever he turned. His father, Thomas Ayers, was CEO and president of Commonwealth Edison, Chicago's electric utility company, and sat on several influential boards, including those of the Chicago Tribune, Northwestern University, and the Chicago Symphony. In 1966, Mayor Richard J. Daley enlisted Thomas Ayers, a close friend, to head negotiations with Dr. Martin Luther King for a city-wide open housing agreement. Tom Ayers was so successful at talking out of both sides of his mouth that King claimed victory while, according to local press accounts, Daley could claim he was able to "preserve the segregationist status quo."

After a couple of mediocre years in a suburban public high school, Bill Ayers transferred to Lake Forest Academy, an upscale prep school for boys on suburban Chicago's north shore. (I attended the same school, before Ayers's arrival). He then went on to the University of Michigan in 1963, where he liked to consider himself a jock because he roomed with the Wolverines' star running back. He spent a summer working for Leo Burnett, Chicago's largest ad agency, a job arranged by his father. But he soon joined protests and demonstrations. He was arrested and spent 10 days in jail for trying to disrupt the Ann Arbor draft board. Shortly thereafter he joined Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and was well on his way to becoming a Marxist and self-styled radical revolutionary.

Bernardine Dohrn seemed made for Ayers; one has to wonder if God doesn't find the perfect mate even for people who don't believe in Him. A native of Milwaukee, Dohrn spent her first two years of college at Miami University of Ohio, but transferred to the University of Chicago after she was blackballed at the Delta Delta Delta sorority because she was half-Jewish. She graduated from the University of Chicago law school. But instead of taking the bar exam, she became an organizer for the National Lawyers Guild, a group identified by the FBI as a Communist front. She also became active in SDS.

As she rose to prominence in SDS, Dohrn and Mark Rudd, leader of the SDS at Columbia, split off from SDS in 1969. For them, SDS was too passive in its radicalism and opposition to the Vietnam War. They believed a more militant group, one that would preach violent class hatred and worldwide revolution, was needed. They called themselves the Weathermen after the Bob Dylan line, "You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows."

Dohrn was unique in far-left circles: no wire-rims, no stringy hair, and no sackcloth. Peter Collier and David Horowitz, in their 1989 book Destructive Generation, write that when Dohrn arrived in New York City in 1967, "with her tight miniskirt and knee-high Italian leather boots, she created an instant sensation among males in Movement circles." Even SDS president Greg Calvert was astonished. "I'll never forget the first time I saw Bernardine," he said. "She was wearing an orange sweater and a purple skirt, and while everyone else had on Stop the War buttons, hers said Cunnilingus is Cool, Fellatio is Fun. She had a boyfriend…but like others buoyed by the new air of sexual freedom, she had relationships with men who interested her." J. Edgar Hoover later nicknamed her "La Pasionaria of the Lunatic Left."

DOHRN WAS ALWAYS one of SDS's most radical and outspoken leaders. When she ran for SDS "Interorganizational Secretary" in 1968, she was asked whether she was a socialist. When she answered that she was a revolutionary communist, she won by a landslide. In order to assure everybody of her bona fides, she announced that "what we're about is being crazy motherf---ers and scaring the s--t out of honky America."

Although Ayers and Dohrn were both active Weathermen during the late 1960s, they did not hook up until sometime in 1969. But in the meantime, Ayers's libido was as vibrant as Dohrn's. He bragged to his comrades of dozens of sexual exploits, and wrote in his book Fugitive Days, "We assumed an outlaw stance, embraced a subversive sexual style, and resisted civic instruction in sexual propriety, blazing utopian trails shimmering with mystery and romance, dripping with desire, swollen with excess. Our lovemaking filled the crackling skies." He went on to describe an orgy of the most extreme proportions: "We experimented feverishly because we were kids, and because our instincts were anarchistic, vigorous and unrestrained. One night after a fierce and bloody demonstration in Washington, a hundred of us created a moaning sexual pageant in a loft off Dupont Circle, flaunting and parading our outrageous exuberance."

They may have talked about childlike exuberance, but what they actually did was not childlike at all. A summary of Weathermen activity prepared by the FBI in 1976 concluded that Ayers and his comrades were full-blown Marxists intent on violently undermining the United States while aiding the North Vietnamese in their struggle against "American Imperialism." Ayers, according to the FBI report, unabashedly claimed that his "National Action" against the Vietnam War was designed to help the North Vietnamese and the Viet Cong, and would help build an American revolutionary youth movement.

It did not take long for rhetoric to be replaced with violence. In October 1969 the Weathermen launched their "Days of Rage" against the war with a dynamite blast that destroyed a police monument in Chicago's Haymarket Square, followed by a window-smashing rampage through the Loop. Over the next several days, police were assaulted, more windows were smashed, and police narrowly averted a riotous assault on the home of federal judge Julius Hoffman, the feisty jurist who was about to preside over the Chicago Eight conspiracy trial. According to a report in the Chicago Tribune, "during the chaos, which lasted four days, 290 militants were arrested, 63 people, mostly police officers, were injured and thousands of dollars of damage was done, mostly by smashing windows and cars."

But attacking police and smashing windows was not enough to satisfy Ayers's appetite for destruction. Two months later he and several other Weathermen leaders set up an explosives factory in a house in New York's Greenwich Village. They intended to make bombs to blow up Fort Dix, in New Jersey, and police headquarters in New York and Detroit. But one of the bombs accidently exploded, leveling the town house and killing three people. According to the Washington Post, the Weathermen claimed responsibility for 25 bombings, including the Pentagon in 1972 and the State Department in 1975. The 1976 FBI report detailed at least 30 bombings and attempted bombings by the Weathermen between October 1969 and September 1975.

Ayers has always claimed that his bombings were designed to damage property. In fact they killed at least seven people, three of whom were police officers. The worst, and perhaps most notorious, was the 1981 armed robbery of a Brinks armored truck in Nanuet, New York, in which two police officers and a Brinks guard were killed. Ayers was not directly involved, although Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert, two of his close Weatherman comrades, were. One former member of the Weathermen, Larry Grathwohl, became an FBI informant and later testified to the Senate Judiciary Committee that he had been in meetings with Ayers where it was made clear that Ayers wanted people killed or injured by his bombs. Grathwohl said that when "Billy Ayers gave me instructions on where and when to place explosives, I warned him that people would be killed. 'In a revolution,' Ayers replied, 'some people have to die.'"

Dohrn was no innocent bystander in Billy's bombing craze. In February 1970, the Weathermen placed a bomb on a window ledge at a San Francisco police station; it killed one officer and injured eight others. According to Grathwohl's Senate Judiciary Committee testimony, Ayers told him that Bernardine Dohrn had planned, developed, and carried out the San Francisco bombing.

AS IF demonstrations, inciting riots, and bombings were not enough, Ayers and Dohrn also committed acts of treason against the United States. According to FBI reports obtained by The American Spectator, Weathermen led by the couple committed themselves to the armed struggle in support of international communism. In 1968 they began meeting with foreign government officials to help further their cause.

Dohrn and 27 other Weathermen members traveled to Yugoslavia and Hungary in 1968 to meet with representatives of the Viet Cong and to discuss how further student unrest in the U.S. might assist the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong. She also maintained close relationships with members of the Cuban UN mission in New York. She made several trips to Cuba, where, according to the FBI reports, she met with Cuban and Vietnamese intelligence officers to plan strategies to frustrate American efforts in Vietnam. According to an FBI agent who followed her activities, in the late 1960s Dohrn lived in the San Francisco home of a Chinese Communist agent.

Ayers, for his part, must have been in higher demand at home, and we know only of several trips to Canada. But not to go fishing: in one meeting with representatives of the North Vietnamese government in Toronto, Ayers was presented with a ring made from the metal of an American airplane shot down over North Vietnam. Later, he said he was so moved by the gesture that he "left the room to cry. I realized…America was evil…and that I was…living inside the belly of the beast…"

In April 1970, federal prosecutors charged Ayers and Dohrn, among others, with inciting riots. Two months later a federal grand jury indicted them and 12 others for conspiracy to bomb and kill civilians. Rather than sit through a boring and lengthy trial with the danger of spending time in the federal penitentiary, Ayers and Dohrn slipped out the back door and went underground. There they stayed, evading the police and committing acts of violence for the next 11 years. Ayers and Dohrn, still unmarried, had two children during their fugitive days and both were added to the FBI's "10 Most Wanted" list. Henceforth, the Weathermen would be known as the Weather Underground.

Bombings and other violent activity were, according to Ayers, aimed at helping to end the Vietnam War. But his violent and terrorist activity continued on after the war ended. His self-proclaimed motive became "to build communist organization toward the stage where armed struggle becomes a mass phenomenon led by a Marxist-Leninist party: a revolutionary stage."

In early December 1980, after 11 years on the lam, Ayers and Dohrn turned themselves in to authorities in Chicago. Unbeknownst to both, however, federal charges against them had been dropped in 1974 after the Supreme Court found the FBI's wiretap techniques unconstitutional. (Dohrn had also been indicted in 1969 by a Cook County, Illinois, grand jury for aggravated battery and solicitation to commit mob action). The U.S. Department of Justice considered reindicting them, but did not. Dohrn eventually pleaded guilty to the Cook County indictment, paid a fine of $1,500, and received three years of probation. But two years later, after refusing to testify to a federal grand jury in New York investigating the Brinks robbery, Dohrn spent seven months in jail for contempt of court. The Associated Press reported that while in jail, "she changed her mind about one principle, her long-standing opposition to marriage…she took a weekend furlough to wed William Ayers, her longtime companion and her boys' father."

TWO INTERESTING ELECTIONS had taken place just weeks before Ayers and Dohrn emerged from the underground: Ronald Reagan was elected president, and Richard M. Daley, the son of Chicago's longtime mayor, who would eventually become mayor himself, was elected Cook County state's attorney. The New York Times reported that friends of Dohrn's speculated that the couple were concerned that Reagan's Justice Department would be tougher on them than Jimmy Carter's, and getting in under the wire might give them a better deal. But the Daley election probably sheds more light on their timing.

Ayers had his lawyer contact the newly elected state's attorney to coordinate the surrender. Daley was reported to have considered putting Dohrn on trial after she was arraigned on charges stemming from the 1969 Chicago "Days of Rage," but evidence was stale, witnesses were gone or had forgotten whatever they once knew, and times had changed. So Dohrn agreed to the plea bargain and a slap on the wrist. Daley was no more a radical than his father, and it is impossible to know just what his motivation was in giving such a break to Dohrn. But he was his father's son, and Bill Ayers's father was Mayor Daley's friend. More on the Daley connection later.

After Dohrn's plea bargain, she and Ayers wasted no time becoming part of the liberal establishment. Ayers enrolled in a graduate program in education at Columbia University and earned his PhD. Dohrn, having graduated from the University of Chicago Law School in 1967, passed the New York bar exam and was hired as a clerk in the New York office of Sidley & Austin, one of Chicago's premier law firms (and, interestingly, the firm where Michelle Obama subsequently had her first job). But to its credit, the New York Bar found Bernardine unfit for the practice of law and refused to admit her. At least as recently as 1993, according to the Chicago Tribune, she had not found another bar association willing to admit her.

In 1987 Ayers and Dohrn moved back to Chicago and settled in Hyde Park, near the University of Chicago -- and just around the corner from where the Obamas later lived. Ayers found a job at the University of Illinois at Chicago teaching education. According to a report in the City Journal, he also found "a new radical vocation. He dreamed of bringing the revolution from the streets to the schools."

Ayers had found his "second act" -- using the schools to further his revolutionary agenda. He became active in Chicago's school reform movement, an effort to replace bureaucratic control of the schools with local control. But he made no bones about the fact that school reform was just a vehicle for teaching the kids revolutionary communism. He teamed up with one Michael Klonsky, former chairman of something called the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) of the USA. According to Stanley Kurtz's thoroughly researched book, Radical in Chief (Threshold Editions, 2010), they worked "to introduce children to radical politics through ethically themed schooling." You get the idea. In 2008 Ayers was elected Vice President for Curriculum Studies at the American Educational Research Association (AERA), where he would have considerable say as to what went into teacher-training manuals for colleges and public schools.

Dohrn bounced around a bit, eventually finding a job teaching at the Northwestern law school. She immersed herself in that cause célèbre of the left, juvenile justice. According to a contemporary report in the New York Times, she "continues the vision and the dream of her radical days [which] now lie in her work as director of the Children and Family Justice Center at Northwestern University School of Law," where she "channels her still-radical ideals into action." The Chicago Tribune later reported that dozens of alumni of both Northwestern and Illinois-Chicago "lodged complaints with the schools…Inflamed by what they see as the couple's unrepentant attitude about their past, some alumni have also promised to withhold contributions from the schools."

Both Dohrn and Ayers joined a number of boards and became active in all the usual liberal causes. They were welcomed by Chicago's liberal establishment, and in 1997, Mayor Richard M. Daley made Ayers "Chicago's Citizen of the Year."

IT IS UNCLEAR JUST WHEN Barack Obama met Ayers and his wife or how well they came to know each other. But we do know that their paths have crossed many times. It may well have been in the early 1980s, when both were in New York and participating in far-left organizations and causes around Columbia University. Certainly they knew each other in the early 1990s, if not before, in Chicago when Obama was a community organizer and Ayers was working on juvenile justice and education reform.

In 1993, Ayers worked closely with ACORN on school reform while Obama was ACORN's lawyer. They served on two foundation boards together in the mid-1990s. In 1995 Ayers and Dohrn hosted the famous party at their house for Obama when he announced his candidacy for the Illinois state senate.

After Obama was elected to the state senate in 1996, two of his major causes were -- surprise -- education reform and juvenile justice reform, the same two that Ayers and Dohrn were most involved in. Interviewed on ABC's Good Morning America after the 2008 election, Ayers said, "we came together in Chicago, in the civic community, around issues of school improvement, around issues of fighting for the rights of poor neighborhoods to have jobs and housing and so on." The Ayers-Obama relationship is covered in great depth by Stanley Kurtz.

So why did Obama find it so necessary to deny the relationship when it came to light during the 2008 campaign? And why did Ayers continually try to protect Obama by claiming they hardly knew each other? Ayers was clearly not just "a guy in my neighborhood," as Obama claimed, but a member of the same social and political class of Hyde Park liberals. Both worked on the same issues, were involved with the same organizations, knew the same people, and were close enough that one would host a political coming-out party for the other.

Inconsistency is the most revealing clue to a lie. Obama and his campaign could not keep the Ayers relationship straight: while Obama and Ayers both tried to deny that they really knew each other, the campaign issued documents defending Ayers, saying that "it is a lie that Ayers is an unrepentant domestic terrorist." The campaign attempted, with endorsements from Chicago mayor Richard M. Daley and two university professors, to make the case that Ayers was really a model citizen.

Obama went to great lengths to make the Ayers relationship go away. His campaign staff attempted to block an independent-expenditure TV ad campaign tying him to Ayers. They tried to intimidate talk radio hosts into not interviewing experts on the issue. They attempted to block access to archive records revealing more about the relationship.

The mainstream press went to bat for Obama as well. Both Chicago newspapers, the Sun Times and the Tribune, editorialized that the controversy was a "phony flap" and not worthy of the campaign. The Los Angeles Times wrote that there was no evidence that Ayers had any influence on Obama's thinking. Mayor Daley issued a statement saying he also knew Bill Ayers and that he was a valued member of the Chicago community. He accused critics of the relationship of "playing guilt by association." Ayers joined Obama in denying that they were friends -- only vague acquaintances who had worked together on a couple of issues.

THE AYERS-OBAMA relationship would never have been an issue if Ayers (and Dohrn) had matured enough to leave their radical world behind. Starting with their emergence from the underground and reentry into Chicago's liberal social scene, they never once expressed regret for what they had done. They had no remorse. They in fact emphasized, over and over again, that they remained committed radicals intent on destruction of Western values and the adoption of totalitarian socialism. In a 1998 interview with Connie Chung on ABC News, Dohrn said, "We'd do it again. I wish that we had done more. I wish we had been more militant." Ayers famously said almost the same thing in a New York Times interview published on September 11, 2001.

Even liberals found them unrepentant., for example, found "not even the faintest evidence of penitence or apology, nor any consciousness of the fact that almost everybody else in America--left, right or center--thinks they were completely out to lunch." And that perennial liberal apologist Michael Kinsley, writing in Time, said Ayers and Dohrn "remain spectacularly unrepentant, self-indulgent, unreflective -- still bloated with a sense of entitlement, still smug with certainty."

And what about the Daley connection? Ayers's father, as mentioned, was an old friend and political supporter of Mayor Richard J. Daley. That same Daley, of course, presided over the Chicago police as they fought radicals like Ayers, who tried to disrupt the 1968 Democratic convention in his hometown. He had little time for war protesters.

But his son may have been one of Obama's most significant supporters in 2008. He provided several of Obama's most trusted aides and associates. They included consigliere Valerie Jarrett, campaign strategist David Axelrod, chiefs of staff Rahm Emanuel and William Daley (Richard M.'s brother), and other lesser-known henchmen. Richard M. Daley, as mentioned, guided Dohrn into her plea bargain, named Ayers Chicago's citizen of the year, and stoutly defended the Obama-Ayers friendship. As he told the Chicago Tribune "…his father was a great friend of my father….Ayers has been in the forefront of a lot of education issues and helping us in public schools and things like that…they're friends. So what? People do make mistakes in the past. You move on."

The Daley family ruled Chicago for nearly 45 years. They are skillful big-city machine politicians who do not like to lose elections and, being Irish, have a strong sense of family. As Michael Barone wrote in U.S. News & World Report in August of 2008, "For Daley, family is paramount, and Ayers is admitted into le tout Chicago because his father is one of its pillars. And electoral politics is also paramount…The current Mayor Daley has maintained very strong support from lakefront liberals, including the Hyde Park/Kenwood leftists like Ayers who were the original movers behind Obama's 1996 state senate candidacy….Staying Mayor is real important to Daley, and Daley staying mayor is real important to le tout Chicago. An unrepentant terrorist? Hey, we know your dad."

The elite Chicago liberals' -- and Obama's -- acceptance of Ayers and Dohrn as equals is the ultimate expression of the left's descent into degeneracy. It demonstrates a complete refusal to recognize the difference between right and wrong, the difference between morality and immorality, and the difference between moderation and nihilism. To liberalism's elites, it is fair to say that there are no enemies on the left.

The American people still do not know the real Barack Obama. They don't know much about his past, his education, where he comes from, or the culture that shaped him. And that is just the way Obama and his political handlers want it to be -- they have all been around long enough to know that his past would not be much of a political asset. But one thing we do know about him is who his friends are. Jeremiah Wright. Valerie Jarrett. David Axelrod. And of course, Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.

My mother used to tell me that you are judged by the company you keep. Which may just give us a little insight into who Barack Obama really is.

October 17, 2013

Governor Pat Quinn, Chicago Mayor Emanuel and city and state officials today provided a preview of the new Red Line South—one of the largest and most innovative transit projects in the country and a significant investment in the ongoing modernization of public transportation in Chicago.

The CTA was the first transit agency in the country to completely rip out and replace such a large stretch of railroad in such a tightly condensed period of time and with such an extensive alternative-service plan, a strategy that provided customers with a better railroad in a shorter amount of time, while saving taxpayer money.

The Governor and the Mayor —joined by Illinois Transportation Secretary Ann Schneider, CTA Board Chairman Terry Peterson, CTA President Forrest Claypool, and local and state elected officials—announced that the Red Line South between Cermak-Chinatown and 95th Street will reopen on schedule on Sunday, Oct. 20.

The 10.2-mile stretch has been closed for five months to rebuild the railroad and upgrade eight stations along the rail line, which serves dozens of communities along Chicago’s South Side. The $425 million project—which created more than 1,500 jobs, many of which will continue after the project ends—will be completed on time and within budget.

“The reconstruction of the Red Line South is an historic investment in both the Red Line—the backbone of the CTA rail system—as well as the many communities it serves on Chicago’s South Side,” said Mayor Emanuel. “This brand-new railroad will provide faster and more comfortable commutes, and is an important step toward creating a 21st century transit experience for commuters.”

“The Red Line South reconstruction was among the largest and most important investments in my Illinois Jobs Now! capital construction program,” Governor Quinn said. “This historic project created more than 1,500 jobs and built a new Red Line that is faster, more efficient and easier to use for tens of thousands of people who will ride on it every day.”

Originally opened in 1969, the Red Line South was reconstructed from the ground up, including all the rails, ties, ballast and signaling equipment—improvements that will shave up to 20 minutes off the round-trip commute between 95th Street and downtown—while providing a smoother, more comfortable and more reliable ride.

“The rebuilding of the Red Line’s South Branch was a large and ambitious undertaking. As the line reopens, South Siders will see the patience they’ve shown during its construction rewarded by more reliable service, modernized stations, and much quicker trips to downtown and the North Side. I’m glad Chicago continues to prioritize infrastructure projects crucial to the city and its residents,” said U.S. Senator Dick Durbin.

“The completion of the CTA’s Red Line South Reconstruction Project not only allows for faster, more comfortable, and more reliable service for Red Line riders but is vital to the health of Chicago’s economy and environment,” said U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (5th District). “This project and the benefits it brings to our community showcase the importance of investments in sustainable infrastructure we should be prioritizing on a national level.”

Condensing the work into five months saved $75 million over an alternative option to perform work on weekends only over a period of four years. The $75 million of savings was reinvested by the CTA in improvements to eight stations along the branch that received new lighting, painting, Train Tracker screens and other enhancements to improve the customer experience. The savings also paid for three new elevators at the Garfield, 63rd and 87th Street stations, making the entire Red Line South accessible to customers with disabilities.

During the project, the CTA provided the largest alternative-service plan in the agency’s history. Free shuttle buses, expanded bus service on regular routes, and Red Line trains running on Green Line tracks—as well as a 50-cent discount on bus routes south of 63rd Street—provided customers convenient, flexible and affordable options during construction.

To promote economic and job opportunities, the CTA ensured strong participation from Disadvantage Business Enterprise (DBE) contractors: 29 percent for the track work component and 40 percent for station work. More than $56.4 million in construction work was awarded to African-American contractors.

Of the more than 1,500 jobs created, roughly 1,000 were jobs in a variety of construction trades. About 130 of those individuals were hired in conjunction with the federal Workforce Investment Act, a federal program design to provide opportunities to individuals who qualify as “Disadvantaged Workers,” which typically includes, but is not limited to, those who meet income-specific guidelines and who’ve been laid-off, terminated or self-employed. Those jobs alone generated about $3 million in wages and benefits.

And many of those jobs will remain after the project is over. Prior to the project’s start, the CTA hired more than 400 bus drivers, many of whom operated the free shuttles and expanded bus service, and who will remain with CTA. Additionally, some of the workers hired for construction jobs will stay with the contractors and subcontractors.

“Too often—and for far too long—significant participation in public or private capital construction projects has eluded South Side businesses and workers,” said CTA Board Chairman Peterson. “But that changed under Red Line South—and has become the new norm for the CTA,” Peterson added, referring to a project labor agreement (PLA) with building trades unions the CTA signed in September. The PLA requires contractors working on most CTA construction projects to provide employment opportunities to disadvantaged workers as established by the Workforce Investment Act.

Built in 1969, the Red Line South had served beyond its expected lifespan and needed replacement. Despite ongoing repairs and maintenance, around 40 percent of the branch had developed slow zones, where trains traveled well below the designed speed limit—and commuters suffered long commutes, uncomfortable rides and frequent delays.

“South Side riders now have a brand-new railroad, rebuilt from the ground up, that will provide a much more pleasant, comfortable and reliable ride. It will provide a much quicker commute for the 80,000 riders who use the Red Line South on an average weekday,” CTA President Claypool said.

The Red Line South project is part of Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s Building a New Chicago infrastructure renewal program, and was funded primarily by a $646 million investment from Governor Quinn’s Illinois Jobs Now! program. Of the $646 million investment, $220 million has been allocated to various projects on the North Side Red Line Branch and to eliminate Purple Line slow zones from Linden to Belmont and Blue Line slow zones from Logan Square to Belmont. Overall, the Governor’s Illinois Jobs Now! plan will provide $900 million to the CTA for a variety of needs across the entire system. With the state’s funding combined with city, federal and CTA funds, the total investment in the Red, Purple and Blue lines will be more than $1 billion.

NE corner of Prairie and Cermak (proposed future home of Depaul Arena / McCormick Place Events Center)

The publicly financed arena planned for a site near the McCormick Place convention center on the Near South Side is a bad idea that just keeps getting worse.

As my colleague Danny Ecker reported yesterday , we can now add construction cost estimates to the many aspects of this plan that don't add up. This being Chicago, it should come as no surprise that building the arena is likely to cost significantly more than originally forecast by the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, the taxpayer-supported agency that runs McCormick Place. McPier, as it's called, also would own and operate the new arena.

When the plan was unveiled in May 2013, estimates pegged the cost at about $140 million, to be split evenly between McPier and DePaul University, which would play its home basketball games in the 10,000-seat arena. But as Danny reported, the partially subterranean design cooked up by architect Cesar Pelli to make the structure palatable to neighbors would be more expensive to build, possibly as much as $250 million.

We won't know the likely cost until a final proposal is presented to the McPier board next week. McPier spokeswoman Mary Kay Marquisos says the project won't cost $250 million, adding, “We're confident that the proposal that will be presented to the (McPier) board next Tuesday will be within the budgetary parameters established for the project and well within the spirit of the original design.”

There's enough wiggle room in that statement for major modifications to limit cost overruns. But my guess is the final construction bill will exceed $140 million by a healthy margin.

And who would cover the extra cost—DePaul? Not likely. Expect McPier—i.e., taxpayers—to pick up most of the overage.

Cost overruns would be easier to swallow if the entire project weren't based on such unrealistic assumptions. Among the whoppers underlying McPier's financial projections: DePaul's mediocre men's basketball team will enjoy a renaissance, drawing 9,500 fans a game, not the 1,900 it pulled in at Allstate Arena in suburban Rosemont last season. Another is the assumed appeal of a mid-sized arena to conventions, rock bands and other forms of entertainment that McPier hopes will keep it hopping during the 300-plus days every year that DePaul won't be playing basketball there.

“We all know that this was sold on the basis of assumptions that were not realistic,” says stadium finance consultant Marc Ganis of Sportscorp Ltd. in Chicago, who dismisses the project as “the arena without a purpose.”

Yet those assumptions are all that stands between McPier and millions in operating losses and debt coverage shortfalls. McPier directors, under the guidance of CEO Jim Reilly, seem to believe that wishing will make it so. I'm sure Mayor Rahm Emanuel's strong backing of the plan has something to do with their willingness to suspend disbelief.

But the agency is in no position to chase after rainbows. Despite winning legislative approval to refinance a towering debt burden, McPier remains a financial outpatient. Assets trail liabilities by $1.1 billion, and McPier posted an operating loss of $91.4 million last year. Even after the refinancing, the hotel tax revenues that are supposed to cover McPier's debt service fell short of the mark by about $60 million last year.

The last thing McPier needs is financial responsibility for a money-losing arena. Instead of denying the inevitability of construction cost overruns, the agency should use them as an excuse to avert another fiscal fiasco.

Yes, McPier already has spent $37.8 million buying and clearing land for the arena. But that doesn't make the arena a good investment. Proceeding with construction would only throw good money after bad.

Taxpayers would be better served if McPier were to sell the land to a private real estate developer or set it aside for some future expansion of McCormick Place.

“If they have not started construction yet and they're not legally obligated to build it, they would be better off scrapping the plan,” Ganis says. “They would certainly save the taxpayers a lot of money by doing so.” -- Crain's Chicago Business, 11/19/2014

The Donald has a tendency to plunk down buildings all over the place, prominently emblazoned with his name. I chose to photograph a building part that does not have his name on it, as far as I can see...

Marina City is a mixed-use residential/commercial building complex that occupies an entire city block on State Street in Chicago, Illinois. It sits on the north bank of the Chicago River in downtown Chicago, directly across from the Loop district. The complex consists of two corncob-shaped, 587-foot (179 m), 65-story towers, which include five-story elevators and physical plant penthouses. It also includes a saddle-shaped auditorium building, and a mid-rise hotel building, all contained on a raised platform next to the Chicago River. Beneath the platform, at river level, is a small marina for pleasure craft, giving the structures their name.[1] Designed by Bertrand Goldberg, Marina City was the first building in the United States to be constructed with tower cranes. The Marina City complex was designed in 1959 by architect Bertrand Goldberg and completed in 1964 at a cost of $36 million, financed to a large extent by the union of building janitors and elevator operators, who sought to reverse the pattern of white flight from the city's downtown area. When finished, the two towers were both the tallest residential buildings and the tallest reinforced concrete structures in the world. The complex was built as a city within a city, featuring numerous on-site facilities including a theatre, gym, swimming pool, ice rink, bowling alley, several stores and restaurants, and, of course, a marina.Marina City was built in a joint venture with Brighton Construction Company, owner: Thomas J. Bowler, and James McHugh Construction Company. James McHugh Construction Co. subsequently built Water Tower Place in 1976 and Trump Tower in 2009, both also tallest reinforced concrete structures in the world at the time.Local Radio station WCFL operated out of Marina City in the office building of the complex.Local television station WFLD, (FOX Channel 32) had its studios and transmitter at Marina City for eighteen years until they were bought by Metromedia. WLS-TV (ABC Channel 7) kept its transmitter atop Marina City until the Willis Tower (formerly known as Sears Tower) was completed.Marina City was the first urban post-war high-rise residential complex in the United States and is widely credited with beginning the residential renaissance of American inner cities. Its model of mixed residential and office uses and high-rise towers with a base of parking has become a primary model for urban development in the United States and throughout the world, and has been widely copied throughout many cities internationally. Marina City construction employed the first tower crane used in the United States. The two towers contain identical floor plans. The bottom 19 floors form an exposed spiral parking ramp operated by valet with 896 parking spaces per building. The 20th floor of each contains a laundry room with panoramic views of the Loop, while floors 21 through 60 contain apartments (450 per tower). A 360-degree open-air roof deck lies on the 61st and top story. The buildings are accessed from separate lobbies that share a common below-grade mezzanine level as well as ground-level plaza entrances beside the House of Blues. Originally rental apartments, the complex converted to condominiums in 1977.Marina City apartments are unique in containing almost no interior right angles. On each residential floor, a circular hallway surrounds the elevator core, which is 32 feet (10 m) in diameter, with 16 pie-shaped wedges arrayed around the hallway. Apartments are composed of these triangular wedges. Bathrooms and kitchens are located nearer to the point of each wedge, towards the inside of the building. Living areas occupy the outermost areas of each wedge. Each wedge terminates in a 175-square-foot (16.3 square meter) semi-circular balcony, separated from living areas by a floor-to-ceiling window wall. Because of this arrangement, every single living room and bedroom in Marina City has a balcony. The apartments are also unusual in that they function solely on electricity; neither natural gas nor propane serves any function. The apartments are not provided with hot water, air conditioning, or heat from a central source, as was the common practice at the time the towers were built. Instead, each unit contains individual water heaters, heating and cooling units, and electric stoves; residents pay individually for the electricity needed to run these appliances. This may have been a financial decision on the part of the building owners; at the time these towers were constructed, local electric utility Commonwealth Edison provided expensive building transformers at little or no charge provided the buildings were made all-electric.In addition, the residential towers are noted for the high speed of their elevators. It takes approximately 35 seconds to travel from the lower-level lobby to the 61st-floor roof decks. The towers were awarded a prize by the New York Chapter of the American Institute of Architects in 1965 for their innovation. The corn-cob appearance of the towers is said to have inspired a similar design for the Corinthian Tower in New York.In 2007, the condominium board controversially claimed to own common law copyright and trademark rights to the name and image of the buildings, although they do not own the parking garage portion of the buildings located below the 20th floor. They claim that any commercial use (such as in movies or Web sites) of pictures of the buildings or of the name "Marina City" without permission is a violation of their intellectual property rights.

According to Trump, he received approval for a 3,600-square-foot (334.5 m2) sign from Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley's administration in 2009, but renegotiated with Mayor Rahm Emanuel's administration. In October 2013, Trump received approval to erect 20-foot (6.10 m) tall stainless steel letters back-lit with white LED lighting spelling out TRUMP on the 16th floor of the building. He made his impending plans for the sign public in February 2014. According to a city planning department spokesperson, standard protocol for such a sign is to require approval from the local alderman (Brendan Reilly, 42nd ward) and the full Chicago City Council. The five letters span a width of approximately 141 feet (42.98 m), making the final approved version approximately 2,800 square feet (260.1 m2)—2,891 square feet (268.6 m2) according to some sources—rather than the originally proposed size. The sign is located about 200 feet (60.96 m) above ground level.

Crews began hanging the sign in May 2014.When Chicago Tribune architecture critic Kamin warned Trump that his review of the sign would be unfavorable, Trump responded "As time passes, it'll be like the Hollywood Sign", but architect Smith distanced himself from the sign saying "Just for the record, I had nothing to do with this sign!".The controversy surrounding the sign drew attention in the national press and international press as it neared completion and the Associated Press ran a story about Mayor Emanuel's disapproval in mid-June. According to the Mayor's spokeswoman Kelley Quinn, "Mayor Emanuel believes this is an architecturally tasteful building scarred by an architecturally tasteless sign". Kamin has noted that part of the problem is the architectural traditions of the city: "If this sign was in Atlantic City or Las Vegas, nobody would care—but it is in Chicago, and in a part of Chicago full of great buildings from the 1920s to the 1960s and onward".Trump and Reilly both pointed out how unbecoming the prior Chicago Sun-Times building signage was via Twitter. As a result of the fiasco, Emanuel initiated a study on how to alter the rules to avert similar signage controversies in the future.

Wait, that's not his mom, you say? Is it Rahm Emanuel's mom? Well it's someone's mom.

Marine Writes Letter to Sen. Dianne Feinstein: ‘I will not be disarmed’

1/03/13 | by S.H. Blannelberry

A letter written by an 8-year Marine veteran to U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, the architect of the comprehensive 2013 Assault Weapons Ban, has gone viral.

The author of the letter, Cpl. Joshua Boston who was deployed to Afghanistan between 2004-05, told CNN that he opposes gun registration because it will lead to confiscation. Moreover, that passing more gun control laws will only serve to disarm law-abiding citizens, leaving them defenseless.

“I own the guns I own because I acknowledge mankind’s shortcomings instead of pretending like they don’t exist. There are evil men in this world and there just may be a time when I need to do the unthinkable to protect me or my family,” Boston said.

Here is the letter Boston wrote, courtesy of CNN’s iReport:

Senator Dianne Feinstein,

I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government’s right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime.

You ma’am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps Veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.

I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America.

I am the man who fought for my country. I am the man who learned. I am an American. You will not tell me that I must register my semi-automatic AR-15 because of the actions of some evil man.

I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public.

We, the people, deserve better than you.

Respectfully Submitted,

Joshua Boston

Cpl, United States Marine Corps

Very well said. Particularly the point about “We deserve better than you.” It’s not clear as to whether Sen. Feinstein has actually seen this letter.

Nevertheless, it stands to reason that the majority of the 5.1 million Post 9/11 veterans, many returning from combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, feel the way Cpl. Boston does. In fact, it stands to reason that the majority of all veterans identify with Cpl. Boston’s letter.

We often hear politicians, on both sides of the aisle, say we need to “support the troops” – well, the question needs to be asked, how does stripping our veterans of their Constitutional right to keep and bear arms via an AWB fit within that popular meme?

Brave men and women put their lives on the line to protect and defend this country and its founding principles yet politicians are going to repay these heroes by gutting their Second Amendment rights?

Any logical person would admit that that’s not supporting the troops; that’s spurning the troops and the sacrifices they made for this country.

Though, given Sen. Feinstein’s past remarks about guns, it’s clear we’re not dealing with a logical individual (see video).

ON GUN "CONTROL"..............................................

We Must Control the Second Amendment Conflict

By William A. Levinson

The side that controls the language of an argument controls the argument, and the side that takes and maintains the offensive controls the entire conflict. The enemy must then react to our actions instead of making us react to his, and continue to react until he is no longer capable of fighting. We are indeed at war with an adversary with whom good faith and win-win negotiation are not possible.

Recognize Incrementalism for What It Is

Incrementalism is the process whereby an aggressor who cannot achieve his entire long-term objective immediately will seek to do it a piece at a time. The free world's failure to take seriously "Germany today, tomorrow the world" brought untold misery to millions of people. The Arab approach to the destruction of Israel also is incrementalist: Gaza and the West Bank today, and Tel Aviv tomorrow.

The anti-Second Amendment camp's agenda also is incrementalist. Dianne Feinstein now talks about so-called assault weapons, but we must not forget her openly stated desire to ban all handguns -- even revolvers. "If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them ... Mr. and Mrs. America, turn 'em all in, I would have done it. I could not do that. The votes weren't here." That's all we need to hear, and all we need to know. This is the civil rights version of "Germany today, tomorrow the world."

I do not own any firearms with high-capacity magazines, so Feinstein's success would not affect me. Only a fool, however, negotiates with or tries to appease an incrementalist, because this simply encourages him or her to take even more. An intelligent person destroys the incrementalist before he grows too strong to stop, putting a permanent end to his entire agenda. This is what England, France, and Czechoslovakia should have done to Germany when it demanded the Sudetenland in 1938, noting that Germany was not yet ready for war. Israel should have done the same to the Arabs when it had the upper hand in 1967; the demolition of the Aswan Dam would have rendered Egypt incapable of further violence for a long time.

Legal and nonviolent methods are meanwhile available with which to demolish anti-Second Amendment organizations and political careers, and we must now use these methods with no restraint whatsoever. The anti-Second Amendment Million Mom March had a no-debate policy, so I did not try to debate my civil rights with it; I destroyed it by helping to expose its misuse of tax-exempt money for electioneering. No more Million Mom March, no more problem. As stated by Shakespeare's Richard of York, "Sword, hold thy temper; heart, be wrathful still / Priests pray for enemies, but princes kill."

Control the Argument and Take the Offensive

It was one matter for Cato the Elder to say "Carthago delenda est" ("Carthage must be destroyed"), and another for Rome's legions to lay the city in ruins and then sow the fields with salt. Intelligent and diligent effort was necessary then, and it is now. The first step is to control the language of the conflict.

The enemy has committed himself to the demonization of certain semiautomatic firearms by calling them "assault weapons," which is itself an outright lie that we can turn against the enemy. An assault weapon is, by definition, a firearm that is capable of fully automatic fire: an Uzi, M-16, or full-auto AK-47. It is already illegal to own any assault weapon without a $200 federal permit. The Violence Policy Center can meanwhile be targeted for using tax-exempt money to deceive the American people as to what an assault weapon really is:

Assault weapons-just like armor-piercing bullets, machine guns, and plastic firearms-are a new topic. The weapons' menacing looks, coupled with the public's confusion over fully automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons-anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun-can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons.

There it is, in Josh Sugarmann's own words. The Violence Policy Center, a 501(c)(3) "tax exempt educational organization," says openly that it plans to exploit the public's ignorance as to the difference between semiautomatic and fully automatic weapons. This provides our side with a potentially devastating scandal with which to discredit the enemy, by turning his own language against him.

The language issue also applies to so-called Saturday Night Specials: small, inexpensive handguns with relatively small ammunition capacities. Our side must call them Negrotown Saturday Night Specials, and add that "Negro" was not the word that the racists who coined this term used. Their agenda was, of course, to make handgun ownership prohibitively expensive for black people who wanted to protect themselves from night riders and other Kluxers.

Apply Psychological Warfare

Psychological warfare is the only military weapon that it is legal for anybody -- be he a government, private organization, or individual -- to use during peacetime. The enemy is already using it by exploiting the Sandy Hook massacre to advance his agenda. We can turn this around by arguing persuasively that Dianne Feinstein, Michael Bloomberg, and Barack Obama welcomed this atrocity as an opportunity to appeal to emotion instead of reason. Rahm Emanuel's "Never let a good crisis go to waste" is a matter of record, and we can hang these words around the other side's neck like the Ancient Mariner's albatross. To this we can add Obama's total lack of remorse over the 150 Mexican citizens and the U.S. law enforcement officer his Justice Department helped to murder through Operation Fast and Furious. This involved more than 2,000 gun felonies (straw purchases).

The dishonesty of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo also is well-known. He once proposed suing firearm manufacturers for violence in public housing projects, even though the manufacturers distribute their products only through firearm dealers who are licensed and approved by the federal government. Disgraced former NY governor Eliot Spitzer also tried to sue gun manufacturers, and he also can be a poster child for his side's ethics, character, and integrity.

We can meanwhile use their association with the Million Mom March, its misuse of tax-exempt money, and its highly creative Form 990 tax return, to demolish the credibility of every public figure who was involved with it: Dianne Feinstein, Jerrold Nadler, and other prominent enemies of the Second Amendment. Note especially that all these individuals signed their names to the proven lie that "12 children in the United States are killed every day by gun violence." The American people are not interested in anything a liar has to say, and we need to act on this quickly.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel joined CTA President Forrest Claypool today to provide a first look at the newest CTA buses that'll be hitting the streets starting this spring. They'll provide Chicagoans a smoother, more reliable bus ride.

We've received and are currently conducting inspection and testing on our first pilot bus as part of an order of 300 new 40-foot clean diesel buses manufactured by Nova Bus.

These new buses feature a sleeker body design, bigger windows, brighter LED lighting and seamless flooring. In addition, new safety features include 10 surveillance cameras per bus and improved safety barriers to protect the Bus Operator.

These improvements are part of the Mayor and CTA’s major bus modernization program announced in 2012 and will bring you an almost entirely new bus fleet within a few years!

UNO Galewood Charter School Grand Opening party, Sept 19 2012.

In attendance: Governor Pat Quinn, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, 3rd District State Representative Luis Arroyo, 36th Ward Alderman Nicholas Sposato, and United Neighborhood Organization CEO Juan Rangel

On Tuesday, June 6, 2017, we and the people of Chicago celebrated 125 years since the start of 'L' service!

It was on June 2, 1892 that the first elevated trains began running in the City of Chicago, which at the time consisted of wooden passenger cars pulled by small, coal-burning, steam locomotives.

Commonly known as the “Alley ‘L’”, the line ran from Congress down to 39th Street just east of State Street. Built by the Chicago & South Side Rapid Transit Railroad Company, this South Side line would be the very first part of a massive rapid transit system commonly known as the ‘L’, which helped shape this great city and today consists of elevated, at-grade, expressway median and subway lines.

To commemorate this milestone in our history, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Chicago Transit Board Chairman Terry Peterson, CTA President Dorval Carter and other invited guests, joined us for a special event featuring a trip on our historic 4000-series train cars (built in 1923 and used for 50 years before their retirement from service). To the sound of its air whistle, these historic rail cars echoed throughout the Loop as the train traveled from downtown, over a portion of the original ‘L’ and then out on to Garfield on the South Side for a celebratory event.

Celebrations continued into the afternoon when the public was invited to hop aboard our two historic trains – the 4000-series and our “bi-centennial” 2400-series from 1976, which provided rides around the Loop ‘L’!

We thank everyone who joined us to celebrate 125 years in the making of the ‘L’ system we have today.

I spotted this guy at Jazz Fest on Saturday, at the Petrillo Music Shell while we waited for the next performance to begin. As I was walking by I recognized him from several weeks ago when I shot him at the Pritzker Pavilion right before the jazz concert there where I also shot mayor Rahm Emanuel. So, I popped him again and we talked for a bit before the music started. I posted my previous shot in the Comments.

Ship of Fools: Obama's Intimates and Advisors

By Mac Fuller

The following thumbnails describe a very small sampling of the locust horde of Leftist bureaucrats President Barack Hussein Obama has deliberately chosen to help him grasp the helm of America's ship of state, strip it from the American people, and steer it hard to port.

The Obama Administration is plainly subverting democracy in America, wildly careening our previous 230-year history of democracy so dangerously Leftward that we are in terrible danger of sinking.

In these thumbnails, three dominant themes of the Obama Administration emerge - fanatically uncompromising anti-capitalism, dangerous and blatant anti-Semitism, and the societal inculcation of dogmatic Leftist, Socialist "faith" through indoctrination of American school children beginning with the earliest ages - a practice instituted by Lenin in Communist Russia and now pounding its way into the American academic mainstream through the prolific efforts and influence of self-proclaimed Communist, Obama friend, and likely "autobiography" ghost writer, William Ayers, as well as Obama appointees like Charles Freeman and Kevin Jennings.

Make no mistake. These people are about Socialism, and they are about power. Their power.

1. Valerie Jarrett -- Obama Senior Advisor and Assistant to the President for Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs. Ms. Jarrett, a product of two decades in rough-and-tumble "Chicago way" politics, and a 17-year friend of the Obama's, is described as "the other side of Barack Obama's brain." Born in Iran, Jarrett, who speaks Persian, moved to the United States as a child. A product of an elite, private, New England boarding school, she is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School.

Jarrett served in the administration of Chicago Mayor Harold Washington (who, prior to his election, failed to file income tax returns for 19 years and during it maintained dubious Socialist ties) as well as in the scandal-ridden, current Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley. Her step-father, Vernon Jarrett was associated with Frank Marshall Davis, the youthful Barack Obama's mentor from age 10 until college - a Chicago Communist Party (USA) member who moved to Hawaii from Chicago. Frank Marshal Davis is now immortalized in President Barack Hussein Obama's "autobiography" as "Uncle Frank" -- conveniently with no mention of his last name nor who he was.

According to the Washington Post, Ms. Jarrett was for many years both Michelle and Barack Obama's "tutor." Virtually every mainstream media outlet has not only done an over-the-top puff piece on Valerie Jarrett (as they repeatedly have with Mr. Obama and his wife), but all agree that neither the President not Mrs. Obama makes a move without first consulting Ms. Jarrett. Ms. Jarrett was personally responsible for bringing self-described Communist Van Jones into the White House as President Obama's environmental "Green Czar." [1]

2. Patrick Gaspard -- White House Political Director (this is the position Karl Rove held in the Bush Administration). Prior to coming on board as President Obama's right-hand man, Mr. Gaspard was a registered federal lobbyist for the SEIU - the union members (thugs?) called-in by the Administration to run interference (sometimes violent) between Democrat members of Congress who support ObamaCare and their own constituents. Prior to that, Gaspard worked for ACORN - the community organizing front which Barack Obama worked for as a trainer, represented as a lawyer, helped as a politician, and funneled money to as a presidential candidate.

The President Obama is as much a product of ACORN as it is of him. He worked closely with the "community organizing" group for many years, represented them in court, and was a member of the board of Chicago's Woods Fund at the time it funneled $200,000 to an ACORN affiliate. Mr. Obama praised the organization extravagantly both during and after his election, and his campaign "donated" over $800,000 to an offshoot group controlled by ACORN (Citizens Services, Inc.) - to "get out the vote."

Gaspard worked directly for now-ACORN chief Bertha Lewis as her political director for the main ACORN office which is located in New York. ACORN is mired in long-standing as well as new and growing allegations of fraud, voter-registration fraud, corruption, and massive embezzlement of funds - ACORN operative organizations have received tens of millions of dollars in federal grants.

ACORN pledged $35,000,000 for voter registration drives in the 2008 election cycle.

In 2004, Patrick Gaspard served as National Field Director for America Coming Together (ACT), a group which was later fined $775,000 in civil penalties by the federal government. ACT hired felons - some convicted of sex offenses, assault and burglary - to conduct door-to-door voter registration drives in Missouri and at least two other swing states, and also employed felons as voter canvassers in major metropolitan areas in Missouri, Florida, Ohio. [2]

3. Eric Holder -- Attorney General of the United States. A handpicked Obama/Jarrett selection, who earlier this year referred to the United States as "a nation of cowards" on race relations, Mr. Holder is a shiningly despicable example of everything wrong when politics and personal ambition dictate the parameters of American justice.

Prior to grasping the brass ring of the department where he'd toiled during the Clinton Administration, Mr. Holder was responsible for these widely-reported miscarriages of justice: (1) He streamlined the Clinton Administration's pardon of fugitive billionaire Marc Rich by steering Rich's representatives to a former White House counsel, then helped lobby the President to pardon Rich ("an unrepentant fugitive wanted on extensive fraud, racketeering, and trading-with-the-enemy charges"). Holder did so for personal gain, later admitting he hoped this would help him become Attorney General in a Gore administration. Mr. Holder concealed the pardon negotiations from other prosecuting and investigative agencies to prevent their opposition. Mr. Rich's wife was a generous donor to both President Clinton's library as well as his legal-defense fund.

(2) "In 1999, over the objections of the FBI, the Bureau of Prisons, and prosecuting attorneys, Holder supported Clinton's commutation of the sentences of 16 FALN conspirators. These pardons - of terrorists who even Holder has conceded had not expressed any remorse - were issued in the months after al-Qaeda's 1998 U.S. embassy bombings.... The commutations were nakedly political, obviously designed by Clinton to assist his wife's impending Senate campaign by appealing to New York's substantial Puerto Rican vote."

(3) Holder was also instrumental in the "stealth pardons" of two Weather Underground terrorists, Susan Rosenberg and Linda Evans (both closely associated with President Obama's terrorist friends, Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn). Rosenberg and Evans had been serving decades-long sentences for bombings targeting American government facilities. Again Holder helped circumvent the pardon process and evade objections from prosecutors regarding the terrorists' jail terms.

Just this summer, now-Attorney General Holder dismissed prosecution of an obvious case (it was filmed) of voter intimidation by members of the New Black Panthers, while also instigating prosecutorial investigations into CIA interrogation techniques of terrorist combatants. Attorney General Holder is a strong advocate for the release of the Islamofascist enemy combatants currently held at Guantanamo Bay. [3]

4. Cecelia Muñoz -- White House Director of Intergovernmental Affairs. Prior to being summoned to the White House by President Obama, Ms. Muñoz was Senior Vice President of The National Council of La Raza. La Raza (literally, "The Race") is the largest Hispanic lobbying organization in America, and is committed not merely to a socialist agenda, but, essentially, the return of California, if not larger portions of the American West, to Hispanics. It lobbies heavily for completely open borders with Mexico, as well as amnesty for all illegal aliens. In order to carry out this agenda, the U.S. federal government awarded over $15.2 million in grants to the organization in 2005 alone.

La Raza is intimately involved with the "the radical racist group Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan (MEChA), one of the most anti-American groups in the country, which has permeated U.S. campuses since the 1960s, and continues its push to carve a racist nation out of the American West." Aztlan's goal is the formation of a Chicano state. The closing two sentences of Atzlan's motto are: La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada": "For The Race everything. Outside The Race, nothing." Which ought to be as chilling as the idea of the U.S. government funding these people.

President Obama's recent appointee to the U.S. Supreme Court, Sonia Sotomayor, has also long been deeply involved with La Raza - a fact which all Democrat Senators ignored during her confirmation hearing.

5. Samantha Power -- Senior Director, Multilateral Affairs, National Security Council. Ms. Power, a professor of public policy at Harvard [who is married to President Obama's Leftist fringe academic Cass Sunstein, the Administrator of the White House Office of Administration and Regulatory Affairs] was only seemingly thrown under the Obama campaign bus for referring to Hillary Clinton as "a monster" during the 2008 Democrat primary. In 2009 President Obama, tapped her to occupy her senior White House foreign policy position.

Ms. Power, a "fierce critic of Israel,... was indisputably Barack Obama's closest foreign policy adviser during the campaign. They go back years." Ms. Power is a notorious acolyte of appeasement-challenged, Neville-Chamberlain-clone Zbigniew Brzezinski (former President Jimmy Carter's National Security Adviser) who recently stated that the U.S. should shoot down any Israeli planes which, out of self-preservation, might fly through Iraqi air space to destroy Iran's developing nuclear facilities. Ms. Power agrees with the Charles-Freeman-published Walt-Mearsheimer-essay school of thought that America is run and being destroyed by a cabal of Jews. Power promotes the policies of disgraced anti-Semitic, Israeliphobic, pro-PLO, pro-Syria, Obama adviser Robert Malley who advocated not merely talking with Hamas, but funding the terrorist organization because he feels their policies and governance mirror that of Israel. The Obama Administration cut visible ties with Malley shortly after the election.

Power, who stridently criticized the invasion and "occupation" of Iraq, repeatedly calling for the removal of American forces from that nation, curiously advocates that America send armed military forces, "a mammoth protection force" and an "external intervention", to impose a settlement between Israel and the Palestinians. While giving the PLO, Fatah, Hamas and other obviously terrorist Arab state organizations a pass, Ms. Power views Israel, the only democratic and non-totalitarian, nation in the Middle East, as guilty of war crimes. She favors slashing, if not eliminating, United States aid to Israel - which is surrounded by several hundred million Muslims who daily pray for its total annihilation - and, apparently, giving the money to the Palestinians instead.

Ms. Power, and virtually all of her truth-through-force ilk ignore the fact that on the day Israel gained independence it was immediately attacked by the surrounding Arab neighbors who erroneously believed they could destroy the nascent country in a matter of hours. "Palestinians" (there is no such country, nor has there been since Biblical times) who now form the "Palestinian problem" were not forced to leave Israel but instead chose to do so because Israel became a Jewish state. Hundreds of thousands of non-Jewish Arabs remained and now form a large core group of Israeli citizenry. The approximately 750,000 "Palestinians" who left, now number approximately 4,000,000. They constitute a "problem" because of all the Arab countries only Jordan has allowed them to become a part of its society. The other Arab countries bordering Israel keep the "Palestinians" in enormous desert internment camps. And they have done so to their Arab brethren for 60 years. Ms. Power and her comrades exquisitely fail to note that Jews were forced to leave Arab countries and relocate to the newly-formed Israeli state.

Like her pro-Arab "realist" co-religionists Charles Freeman, Robert Malley, Zbigniew Brzezinsk, billionaire George Soros (an influential Obama supporter), and others of their stripe, Powers opposes the "Israel lobby." She, as they, adamantly rejects the participation of American supporters of Israel, including Christians, in foreign policy discussions of the Middle East.

For all Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's public visibility, it may not be much of a conjecture that her job has been outsourced to the alpha female who once referred to Mrs. Clinton as a "monster." [5]

6. Charles Freeman -- Nominated, but not confirmed, as Chairman of the (United States) National Intelligence Council - which is responsible for producing national intelligence estimates for the president and his advisors. Mr. Freeman has a distinguished résumé of long service in both the State and Defense Departments, however, his "distinctive political views and affiliations" include: troubling financial ties to King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia who funds the Middle East Policy Council (formerly the American Arab Affairs Council) which Mr. Freeman heads; organizational support for professors John J. Mearsheimer and Stephen M. Walt's lengthy, controversial, and essentially anti-Jewish essay, "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy"; his stated viewpoint that "the primary reason America confronts a terrorism problem today is "the brutal oppression of the Palestinians by an Israeli occupation"; praise for the terrorist organization, Hamas, as the only "democratically-elected" government in the Middle East; and, bizarrely, unabashedly siding with the Chinese government over the massacre at Tiananmen Square in 1989 - Mr. Freeman criticized the Chinese government for being "overly cautious."

Once Leftist liberal, New York Senator Chuck Schumer spoke against Freeman's nomination, the gentleman withdrew - but not without "blaming his own disgrace on a Jewish conspiracy."

During his Congressional investigation, Mr. Freeman was charged with "[p]romoting public schools textbooks which the independent Textbook League describe ‘a vehicle for disseminating disinformation, including a multitude of false, distorted or utterly absurd claims that are presented as historical facts. ...[with] three principal purposes: inducing teachers to embrace Islamic religious beliefs; inducing teachers to embrace political views that are favored by the...Middle East Policy Council (formerly the American Arab Affairs Council)...; and impelling teachers to disseminate those religious beliefs and political views in schools." [6]

7. Scott Gration -- President Obama's Special Envoy to the Sudan. His diplomatic policy is, quite literally the following:

"We've got to think about giving out cookies," said Gration who was appointed in March, "Kids, countries -- they react to gold stars, smiley faces, handshakes, agreements, talk, engagement."

As even that bastion of liberal blather the Washington Post noted, "U.S. diplomacy has remained mostly in the hands of Obama's special envoy to Sudan, retired Air Force Maj. Gen. J. Scott Gration, who is pushing toward normalized relations with the only country in the world led by a president indicted on war-crimes charges."

While President Obama's handpicked "Special Envoy" was tempting genocidal Muslim radicals with "cookies" and "gold stars," marauding bands of guerrillas in the Sudan crucified seven Christians. [7]

8. Rahm ("dead fish") Emanuel -- White House Chief of Staff. Mr. Emanuel is the notorious hardball political player from Chicago's North Side which he represented in Congress prior to his current incarnation as President Obama's political henchman and myrmidon. The ironically named Mr. Emanuel ("God with us") is "relentlessly partisan," thereby quite succinctly putting the lie to Mr. Obama's campaign claim to "post-partisanship."

Nicknamed "Rhambo," President Obama's Chief of Staff - the highest ranking office of the Executive Branch of the President of the United States - is well-know for the following accomplishments:

(1) a casual conversation style addictively laced with the most outrageous profanities and gutter language at any and all times;

(2) sending a 2½ foot-long dead and decomposing fish to lobbyist Allen Secrest with whom he was angry;

(3) threatening then-British Prime Minister Tony Blair just prior to a joint appearance with then-President Bill Clinton: "This is important. Don't f--- it up.";

(4) at dinner the night after Bill Clinton was elected President in 1992, "Rhambo" ranted about a long list of people who were the subject of his ire. As he shouted each "enemy's" name, Mr. Emanuel punctuated his rage by forcefully stabbing the dinner table and screaming, "Dead!"

Outside of murdering a Congressional page, it is relatively difficult to improve upon these glowing characteristics of mental stability and leadership. [8]

Rahm Emanuel is Ezekiel Emanuel, "Dr. Death's," brother.

9. Ezekiel Emanuel -- President Obama's Special Advisor for Health Policy to the Office of Management and Budget. Nicknamed in the press "Dr. Death" after former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and former New York Lieutenant Governor Betsy McCaughey pointed out Dr. Emanuel's "healthcare" role assisting the White House in the preparation and administration of federal budget recommendations for guiding healthcare and healthcare initiatives, Dr. Emanuel (again, application of the absurdly ironic name, "God with us") is a "bioethicist." He is also hailed as President Obama's "Rationer-in-Chief." Generally, Emanuel's idea of healthcare rationing is to greatly restrict many treatments, medicines, and procedures to anyone over 40 and more particularly to anyone over 65. Dr. Emanuel feels similarly about the newly born until they have attained several years of age at which time he begins to view them in Malthusian terms of potential communitarian utility.

As Lt. Governor McCaughey noted, "In numerous writings, Dr. Emanuel chastises physicians for thinking only about their own patient's needs." This is the man who was personally tapped to guide ObamaCare health initiatives - not only by President Obama and his Chief of Staff... but also by "the other side of Barack's brain," Valerie Jarrett.

Mr. Emanuel is yet another in a tedious yet frighteningly long line of unqueried, unquestioned, and unvetted Obama advisors and "czars" about whom nothing can be known until pulled from beneath labyrinths of liberal camouflage by interested citizens, conservative Internet bloggers, and the staffs of conservative talk shows. Mainstream media long ago forfeited its credibility as well as its societal role as the fourth estate.

Dr. Emanuel is a member of the President's Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research (curiously enough authorized under the dazzling rushed-through and unread by a single Congressman, American Recovery and Investment Act... "the Stimulus Bill") which, if allowed, will make decisions about the validity, "relative strengths and weakness of various medical interventions" as well as give clinicians...information to make decisions that will improve the performance of the U.S. health care system. Not improve medical care much less your medical care, but the "system." It's called "rationing," and it will very likely result in unnecessary and preventable early deaths. On a very large scale.

One final point. Due to the ambiguity of the relevant language in the Stimulus Bill as well as in the various ObamaCare "reform" proposals, there will not only be great latitude for interpretation of various laws' meaning, but these interpretations will require being instituted, oversight, and, of course, regulation. The necessity of regulation allows President Obama's Administrator of the White House Office of Administration and Regulatory Affairs Cass Sunstein carte blanche to regulate whatever he likes.

Mr. Emanuel is the brother of White House Chief of Staff, and former North Side Chicago Congressman (5th District of Illinois) Rahm ("dead fish") Emanuel. [9]

10. Cass Sunstein -- Administrator of the White House Office of Administration and Regulatory Affairs. He is a Harvard Law School professor and newly-minted husband of President Obama's Senior Director, Multilateral Affairs, National Security Council, the Israel-phobic Samantha Power (one of several husband-wife teams in the Obama White House). Mr. Sunstein's belief structure could understandably be called "Leftist kook" or "fringe" if not downright lunatic. Herewith:

In a 2007 speech at Harvard, Sunstein called for banning all hunting in the United States. All. Everywhere.

He actually put in writing, in his 2004 book, Animals that, "Animals should be permitted to bring [law] suit, with human beings as their representatives...."

"[T]here should be extensive regulation of the use of animals in entertainment, in scientific experiments, and in agriculture."

Mr. Sunstein, who openly argues for bringing socialism to the U.S. and even lends support to communism, wrote, "The absence of a European-style social welfare state is certainly connected with the widespread perception among the white majority that the relevant programs would disproportionately benefit African Americans (and more recently Hispanics)..."

"[A]lmost all gun control legislation is constitutionally fine. And if the Court is right, then fundamentalism does not justify the view that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to bear arms."

Were Mr. Sunstein to succeed as President Obama's head regulator of all things American, what might happen to those millions of hunting rifles and shotguns he doesn't want gathering dust in your cabinet?

Mr. Sunstein is a reputed "1st Amendment scholar." Having attended law school myself and actually practiced law for a quarter century rather than retreat to the head-swelling-brain-shrinking environs of academia, I can assure you that if he is, America is in very deep trouble. President Obama has made clear his White House Masterregulator is intended to regulate virtually every aspect of American's lives - including the environment, healthcare, finance, and the economy - regardless of your feelings about such matters much less your freedom and liberty. Sunstein has argued in his prolific literary works (one bookstore tour de force was a whopping 84 pages) that the Internet is anti-democratic because of the way users can filter out information of their own choosing. He went on to assert: [10]

A system of limitless individual choices, with respect to communications, is not necessarily in the interest of citizenship and self-government... Democratic efforts to reduce the resulting problems ought not be rejected in freedom's name.

As WorldNetDaily noted:

"It's hard to imagine President Obama nominating a more dangerous candidate for regulatory czar than Cass Sunstein....Not only is Sunstein an animal-rights radical, but he also seems to have a serious problem with our First Amendment rights. Sunstein has advocated everything from regulating the content of personal e-mail communications, to forcing nonprofit groups to publish information on their websites that is counter to their beliefs and mission.... If it were up to Obama and Sunstein, everything we read online - right down to our personal e-mail communications - would have to be inspected and approved by the federal government."

11. Van Jones -- President Obama's former White House Environmental Adviser ("Green Jobs Czar"). Mr. Jones remains a self-defined Communist community organizer from the San Francisco Bay area (Oakland, California). He is also an Whites-hating racist with a criminal arrest record, as well as a "9/11 Truther" true believer. The 9/11 Truther organizations proselytize that former President George W. Bush and former Vice President Richard Cheney either planned or knew about the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks conducted by 19 Islamofascist members of Al-Qaeda who, aside from slamming a passenger jetliner into the Pentagon, did the same in New York City totally destroying the Twin Towers and killing almost 3,000 Americans.

When Mr. Jones, an ardent racist and Communist, was hired into the White House by "the other half of Barack's brain," Ms. Valerie Jarrett, she expressed overflowing praise in the press and in video-taped interviews for Mr. Jones and his work, noting that "we have been watching him for a long time. [11]

12. Carol M. Browner -- Director of the White House Office of Energy and Climate Change Policy. Ms. Browner is a Socialist sycophant of Al Gore's conclusion that the earth is going to evaporate tomorrow. A former EPA director, Ms. Browner is married to Leftist lobbyist Thomas Downey and remains an ardent Socialist activist. She is one of 14 leaders of Socialist International's, "Commission for a Sustainable World Society," which calls for "global governance."

As Van Jones was an admitted Communist, Ms. Browner is an admitted and very active Socialist. What more really need be said about her with reference to President Obama who has been fully informed of her moral relativity and anti-Americanism for years since she has hardly kept it secret from either her associates, the public, nor the press. [12]

13. John Holdren -- Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Other than Mr. Holdren's well known and oft repeated morally relativistic denial of American exceptionalism, one and only one thing need to be said here about President Obama's "Science" Czar - he is Barack Obama's twin on the matter of abortion and has advocated compulsory abortion. Here it is again: President Obama searched for, reached out, and chose as his chief "science advisor" a plasma physicist who advocates compulsory abortion.

As John Griffing wrote of Holdren in "Enough is Enough," for American Thinker:

...for a true outrage, consider new Czar of Science, John P. Holdren, who, in a stunning display of unabashed evil, has actively advocated "compulsory abortion":

There exists ample authority under which population growth could be regulated...It has been concluded that compulsory population-control laws, even including laws requiring compulsory abortion, could be sustained under the existing Constitution if the population crisis became sufficiently severe to endanger the society.

If that doesn't send a chill down your spine, consider his words, "All the children who are born, beyond what would be required to keep up the population to a desired level, must necessarily perish, unless room be made for them by the death of grown persons." Let that sink in: an American official supports forced abortion and the death of "grown persons." We know what that looks like. It has been official policy for years in Communist China.

President Obama quite literally has the single worst record of any elected official on the question of abortion. While in the Illinois legislature he single-handedly prevented that state's Born Alive Infant Protection Act from leaving his committee much less being made into law. As a result, for three more years until legislator Obama became U. S. Senator Obama, Illinois hospitals and doctors were permitted to allow otherwise healthy infants who survived an abortion to receive no medical attention whatsoever until they died. They were simply, and quite literally, "shelved." The evidence of Mr. Obama's actions and callous disregard for the lives of infants is overwhelming. [13]

14. Kevin Jennings -- President Obama's Safe Schools Czar. Jennings is a former schoolteacher who has very successfully advocated promoting homosexuality in schools, written about his past drug abuse, unashamedly and vituperatively expressed his utter contempt for religion, and detailed an incident in which he did not report to authorities his knowledge that an underage student told him he was having sex with older men - Jennings instead counseled the boy to "use a condom. " In 1990, as a teacher in Massachusetts, [Jennings] founded the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), which now has over 40 chapters at schools nationwide. He has also published six books on gay rights and education...."

In the past, Mr. Jennings has praised Harry Hay, the frequent and vocal defender of NAMBLA - the North American Man-Boy Love Association, which promotes the legalization of sexual abuse of young boys by older men.

His organization, Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, has successfully prodded some schools into making October the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered (LGBT) Month, as well as established November 28th as "Transgender Day of Remembrance."

None of this belongs in any school anywhere, any time, and the fact that the Obama Administration chooses to support such people with such goals and then put them in positions of great authority and power should make even the most dyed-in-the-wool middle-class liberal Democrats cringe at the depth of either their negligence, uncaring, or stupidity regarding the real Barack Hussein Obama.

And I bet all the teachers in America didn't know this - according to Mr. Jennings (at a New York University "Education Policy Breakfast):

"... you cannot be an effective teacher if you are not aware of how [lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender] biases can influence how you interact with your students. Pure and simple."

To which Mr. Jennings added,

"It should be impossible to graduate from NYU or any other school of education without coursework - required coursework - that address issues of [LGBT] bias in the classroom and how it might influence your teaching. [It] should be a graduation requirement."

In 1999, Mr. Jennings wrote the foreward for an elementary education instruction book, Queering Elementary Education, the description of which states that it examines "five broadly-defined areas in elementary education: foundational issues; social and sexual development; curriculum; the family; and gay/lesbian educators and their allies. It seeks to provide scholarly insights, pedagogical strategies, and curricular resources for use in schools. At the core of the book is the belief that public school educators have the responsibility to affirm sexual diversity..." In elementary school?

It is Jennings himself, Obama's "Safe-School Czar," who coined the term "safe school" as a euphemism for "pro-homosexual" school. Children's physical safety had nothing and has even less to do now with Mr. Jennings educational background, "expertise," or agenda. "Jennings was obviously chosen for this job because of the safe schools aspect... defining 'safe schools' narrowly in terms of 'safe for homosexuality'," says Peter Sprigg, a senior fellow at the Family Research Council.

"Safe school" is hardly the only word commandeered by Jennings and the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) to support propagandizing his model "safe school" into mainstream elementary education. Others include, and parents should be alert to "seemingly innocuous terms as ‘safe school,' ‘anti-bullying,' ‘safe space,' ‘hate-free, ‘tolerance,' ‘respect differences,' ‘be an ally,' ‘no name calling day,' ‘be who you are,' ‘free to be fully me,' ‘day of silence,' and so forth. If these terms are present [in school instructional materials], they are [probably] defined by Jennings, not Webster, and the accompanying curricular material will probably be objectionable. Jennings' jargon and the mythical bullying epidemic even showed-up in the recent Presidential address to school children."

The Obama Administration was certainly aware of these facts long before the President and Ms. Jarrett selected Mr. Jennings, just as they selected Van Jones, and all the other members of the Obama Administration discussed here.

This is the type of colossal lack of judgment the President of The United States has not merely chosen to surround himself with, but in fact personally displays every day.

Feeling any "safer" about your kids? [14]

15. Chai Feldblum - Obama nominee to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission who signed a manifest seeking, inter alia, to legalize polygamy ("to protect households in which there is more than one conjugal partner"). See, online petition entitled Beyond Same-Sex Marriage: A New Strategic Vision For All Our Families and Relationships. Feldblum is an outspoken homosexual rights activist and Georgetown University law professor. She is "co-director of Workplace Flexibility 2010, which she described at [a] UCLA symposium as a homosexual rights group that aimed to change ‘the American workplace and revolutionize social mores. This is a war that needs to be fought,'' Feldblum asserted, "'and it's not a war overseas where we are killing people in the name of liberating them." [15]

16. William Ayers -- Obama friend, neighbor, fellow board member, "respected" national educator, virulently anti-American, and dramatically unrepentant radical terrorist bomber. Mr. Ayers famously stated:

"I am a radical, Leftist, small ‘c' Communist...Maybe I'm the last Communist who is willing to admit it.... The ethics of Communism still appeal to me."

Perhaps Mr. Ayers most notable statement was made to the New York Times in a story released on September 11, 2001:

"I don't regret setting bombs; I feel we didn't do enough,"

It has gradually come to light that Mr. Ayers, far from the casual acquaintance President Obama made him out to be during the 2008 election, is quite likely the real author of Mr. Obama's "autobiography," Dreams of My Father. [16]

Mr. Ayers approach to education is as authoritarian as is his approach to society as a whole - otherwise he would not have planted terrorist bombs in an effort to compel his personal beliefs upon the rest of society. As Sol Stern of City Journal wrote:

Ayers's influence on what is taught in the nation's public schools is likely to grow in the future. Last month, he was elected vice president for curriculum of the 25,000-member American Educational Research Association (AERA), the nation's largest organization of education-school professors and researchers. Ayers won the election handily, and there is no doubt that his fellow education professors knew whom they were voting for. In the short biographical statement distributed to prospective voters beforehand, Ayers listed among his scholarly books Fugitive Days, an unapologetic memoir about his ten years in the Weather Underground. The book includes dramatic accounts of how he bombed the Pentagon and other public buildings.

Ayers's politics have hardly changed since his Weatherman days. He still boasts about working full-time to bring down American capitalism and imperialism. This time, however, he does it from his tenured perch as Distinguished Professor of Education at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Instead of planting bombs in public buildings, Ayers now works to indoctrinate America's future teachers in the revolutionary cause, urging them to pass on the lessons to their public school students. [17]

The Ayers-Obama Socialist-conversion mission carried out with the Chicago Annenberg Challenge's $100,000,000 was a total failure, producing zero results in student learning, but succeeded in massive transfers of wealth to Leftist, Socialist, and even the Communist causes of long-time Ayers ally, Mike Klonsky, a former S.D. S. leader, college professor and Director of the Small Schools Workshop. However, neither Mr. Ayers nor President Obama have given up on their radical Leftist agenda. [18]

Ayers is married to unrepentant Weather Underground terrorist Bernadine Dohrn who was once jailed for refusing to testify before a grand jury investigating other Weather Underground members' robbery of a Brinks truck, in which a guard and two New York State Troopers were killed. Like her husband, she remains involved and influential in school programs.

For Mr. Ayers, Mr. Freeman, Mr. Jennings, Mr. Chu, and President Obama's Secretary of Education, yet another Chicagoan, Arne Duncan - and far too many others in the Obama Administration - education is solely about pursuing then mandating the radicalization of children through indoctrination in Leftist policies, "social justice" curricula, and Socialism itself in public schools.

The Obama Administration is currently making thousands of federal bureaucratic appointments.

Make no mistake. These people are about Socialism, and they are about power. Their power.

Taken at the Chicago protests, where tensions continue over the shooting death of Laquan McDonald by the police and many call for the resignations of the mayor, Rahm Emanuel and the State's Attorney, Anita Alvarez.

“Snowball in hand, the President chases Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel on the White House colonnade. To escape, Rahm ran through the Rose Garden, which unfortunately for him, was knee-deep in snow.”

It was fun to watch these military helicopters play around over our city of Chicago in preparation for the NATO summit which will take place here next month. I don't really feel safer for it but it's very fun to watch.

It is a sad reminder to me though, that we are losing our rights one by one.

It's a constitutional right here in this country for us to bear arms...but we can't here in Chicago. It's true, look at our crime rates...only the idiot gang bangers and the police have weapons-oh, and now these guys in the helicopters.

That's right...the 'land of the 'free'' is losing rights at an alarming rate. Sort of like the rain forest, our rights are being mowed down for money and power as quickly as anyone can figure out a way to do so!

Our constitutional right to assemble is gone-or at least it will be...

Just in time for Mayor Rahm can 'keep control' and 'peace'.

Excerpts from:

"The U.S. Constitution forbids laws "abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

But that's not stopping Rahm Emanuel.

If Chicago's mayor has his way at a January 18 City Council meeting, local ordinances will be twisted into tools of repression, ready to be used against any organization or group of individuals that wants to express dissent.

It won't take much for a protester to be labeled a criminal in Emanuel's Chicago--using a sound system or carrying a banner that wasn't registered in advance, not providing an official marshal for every 100 people attending a rally, letting a demonstration last more than two hours.

Emanuel's proposals are supposedly in preparation for demonstrations expected at a joint summit of the Group of Eight industrialized nations and the NATO military alliance that will take place in May. But the shredding of civil liberties isn't temporary, as Emanuel once claimed. It will be permanent if the City Council goes along--and the impact will be felt by unions, community groups, antiwar activists, social justice advocates and more..."

"...THE ASSAULT on civil liberties underway in Chicago isn't the exception. There are plenty more examples, and they run straight to the top of political system in the "world's greatest democracy."

On the last day of 2011, Barack Obama signed into law the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)--one provision of which grants the military, at the discretion of the president, the power to indefinitely detain U.S. citizens." end quote for now.

(That's right, on NEW YEARS EVE, commonly known as one of the biggest party days in the USA...he snuck this one past us. Knowing that the masses of blind citizens would be drinking and being stupid, welcoming 2012 rather than paying attention to the morons in charge, Obama signed this one into law. Dumb citizens, sure...but devious and despicable leadership as well.

And HOW do they justify the ridiculous removal of what our nation supposedly was founded on...these 'inalienable rights' that we supposedly all have as humans?)

begin excerpts from article again here: "'s amazing how easily peaceful protesters can be painted as dangerous extremists.

Consider the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act (AETA), a law quietly passed in 2006 at the behest of the agriculture and biotech industries. AETA labels as "terrorist" anything done "for the purpose of damaging or interfering with the operations of an animal enterprise," as well as "economic damage" to such an enterprise. Activists say the law is so broad that they could be targeted just for secretly videotaping abuses against animals at factory farms, since this could affect companies' bottom lines.

That's how peaceful protest gets conflated with terrorism..."

Ok, ending quotes from that particular article now...but we DO remember of course, that there is a multi billion dollar war on terrorism, right? And that for every dollar printed to support this bogus war the Federal Reserve, our central bank, gets to charge us, the citizens of the USA, interest for it?

I have long suspected many in our government as being untrustworthy. I don't think this is such a far stretch of the imagination. One need look no further than our own mayor to see that loyalties easily may lie far from home.

During the Gulf War Rahm (who studied dance and arts here in the states, but never joined the US armed forces) volunteered for the Israeli Defense Forces as a civilian helping to maintain equipment (OK, I didn't work hard for that information, it was stolen straight from Wickipedia). Why would we expect him to have loyalty to THIS country, THIS constitution, THIS intention? Evidently he's more willing to put his safety on the line in another country...and not the one he holds office in.

But then, he learned well who to be loyal to....look no further than his father. (" His father, Benjamin M. Emanuel, is a Jerusalem-born pediatrician who was once a member of the Irgun, a Jewish paramilitary organization that operated in Mandate Palestine." Yes, sorry, another blatant rip off from cheesy Wickipedia. :) ) I'm not trying to bash any other country, I'm merely pointing out that loyalty of our mayor might be stronger to a country that Chicago is not technically a part of. I would think that would be a cause for concern among citizens here.

A master of words (literally, he got a M.A. in speech and communications from Northwestern University...none of his studies here in the states had anything to do with politics as far as I could find-but don't quote ME on that...he did work with Obama...) and a political force who makes removing our rights sound like a great idea to the masses-Rahm was the obvious choice for Chicago, one of the most crooked political arenas in the entire nation. Well done, Rahm, well done. Heck, you even held your title by changing the rules so you didn't have to actually LIVE in the city that you were put in charge of. Obviously rules have no meaning in your life...unless you're handing them out to others to restrict their rights. I have to does this benefit YOU? Or is it something bigger than you that you are working for? And WHAT could that be?

Recently rehabbed/restored/turned into an assisted living facility called Harvest Commons

Mayor Rahm Emanuel joined Near West Side community leaders and site developers today for the formal re-opening of the $22.3 million Harvest Commons apartments, a designated City landmark that was converted into 89 low-income studios with on-site social services.

Redeveloped during the last year by Heartland Housing in conjunction with First Baptist Congregational Church, the project is part of Mayor Emanuel’s “Chicago Neighborhoods Now” initiative, which is coordinating $2.9 billion in new economic development, housing, and quality of life improvements in seven opportunity-rich sections of Chicago.

Built in 1930 as the Union Park residential hotel and renamed The Viceroy in 1963, the six-story building primarily catered to itinerant guests before closing in 2006, when it was purchased by the City. City Council designated the Art Deco structure as an official landmark in 2010.

TIF money I didn't object to being spent, as that building was a pit of decay for decades…
