The aim of the transformation of the area was to create a diverse district with mixed use , with an attractive promenade and urban quality . The goal was to create an intimate and distinctive skyline seen from the water and Nørresundby .
The district contains etagehusbebyggelse of 4-6 floors of mixed urban uses such as housing, education and eco-friendly business . The area is also zoned for smaller shops and cafes. To add water and thus urban qualities into the area , brought a 14 m wide channel dug from the fjord to Beach Road - Obel Channel .

Aalborg Central Waterfront is located in front of the medieval city , where the fjord is narrowest and form a big swing. Aalborg Central Waterfront should be experienced as a whole with the harmony of materials and lighting - lighting which made the Danish Lighting Award in 2011. The landscape is emphasized by a continuous promenade for vulnerable road users. A three second exposure at dusk of the North Bay in Scarborough. With views Northwards along the coast towards Burniston,Cloughton and the high cliffs of Hayburn Wyke. The hotel lit up on the hill is the Clifton Hotel on Queen's Parade and then there is the Sands development in the middle sited on the plot of the old Corner Cafe. Further along the promenade is the white pyramids of Scarborough Sealife centre. If you've visited the town you will know it all like the back of your hand.

The Grand Hotel is a large hotel in Llandudno, Wales, overlooking the Promenade on the North Shore. It is owned by Britannia Hotels.
The history of the Grand Hotel began with the construction of the bathhouse in 1855. In 1858 the Pier was opened below the bathhouse. However, this was severely damaged in the Royal Charter Storm of 25 October 1859, which caused the loss of 223 ships and 800 people in British coastal waters.
Although repaired and used for a further 16 years, the pier was eventually replaced in 1876. At that time the bathhouse complex was extended with the construction of the Bath's Hotel, the forerunner of the Grand Hotel

The Riva Degli Schiavoni is a lovely and lively - albeit often overcrowded - promenade that sits on the waterfront at St. Mark's Basin in Venice. It was originally built in the ninth century from dredged silt and was named for the Slavic men who brought cargo to Venice from across the Adriatic Sea.
The market stalls that crowd the area probably had their start in the fifteenth century, when Slavs and Greeks moved into the area and would line the promenade to sell their meat and dried fish near the wharf.
Today, the stalls are still present though meat and dried fish aren't generally part of the fare. What visitors will find nowadays Riva degli Schiavone, Venice, Italy, Riva degli Schiavone is a variety of snacks, pastries, confections of all sorts, and plenty of Venetian souvenirs for visitors to take home with them.
The Riva Degli Schiavoni commences outside the Doges Palace and ends near the Arsenal. Along the way the promenade is lined with numerous hotels, restaurants, bars, and a number of notable historic buildings. Some of the hotels once functioned as palaces. For example, the Hotel Danieli used to be the Palazzo Dandolo, home to the aristocratic Dandolo family. Originally Byzantine in style, the palazzo includes a modern 1950s extension that was added when it was made a hotel.
Unfortunately I will have to skip this event. With the massive turnout on the big day, my heart may not take the beating.
From this view you'll get the historical blend of old Singapore. The old Andersen Bridge, colonial architecture of The Fullerton Hotel and a sculpture set reminiscing kids playing near the Singapore River banks from the past. Just my thoughts...

The award-winning pier is on the North Shore. Built in 1878, at 2,295 feet (700 m) the pier is the longest in Wales and is a Grade II listed building.
Looking back towards the town from the end of the pier, on a clear day one can see the mountains of Snowdonia rising over the town. A curious major extension of the pier in 1884 was in a landwards direction along the side of what was the Baths Hotel (now where the Grand Hotel stands) to provide a new entrance with the Llandudno Pier Pavilion Theatre at the North Parade end of the promenade, thus increasing the pier's length to 2,295 feet (700 m). Attractions on the pier include a bar, a cafe, amusement arcades, children's fairground rides and an assortment of shops & kiosks.
In the summer, Professor Codman's Punch and Judy show (established in 1860) can be found on the promenade near the entrance to the pier.

The Grand Hotel is a large hotel in Scarborough, England, overlooking the town's South Bay. It is now a Grade II* listed building that is owned by Britannia Hotels, and has undergone a £7 million refurbishment.
The hotel was designed by the Hull architect Cuthbert Brodrick, and when completed in 1867 was one of the largest hotels in the world, as well as one of the first giant purpose-built hotels in Europe. The hotel's distinctive yellow brickwork was made locally in Hunmanby.
The building is designed around the theme of time: four towers to represent the seasons, 12 floors for the months of the year, 52 chimneys symbolise the weeks, and originally there were 365 bedrooms, one for each day of the year. The hotel itself is in the shape of a 'V' in honour of Queen Victoria.
The hotel's heyday was arguably during Victorian times, when wealthy holidaymakers made up the establishment's clientele. As Scarborough was a famous spa town, the building's baths originally included an extra pair of taps, so guests could wash in seawater as well as fresh.
The hotel was badly damaged when the German Navy bombarded the town in 1914.
Nowadays, the hotel caters towards the budget end of the spectrum. The hotel was bought by Butlins, the company better-known for its holiday camps, in 1978, and run as an inexpensive choice of accommodation until it was sold to Britannia in 1998.

I never tire of looking at this view across the North Bay Scarborough with the road lined with hotels and the 12th Castle standing proudly on the horizon. Lots of footpaths allow you to stroll gently down onto the promenade and walk into the town a mile or so behind the castle. Be prepared for the walk back up the hill.

Au début de la période coloniale, il était interdit de construire sur ces terrains afin de voir venir de loin toute flotte ennemie. D’où le nom de Vedado, qui signifie interdit en espagnol.

The Hotel Negresco on the Promenade des Anglais on the Baie des Anges in Nice, France was named for Henri Negresco (1868-1920) who had the palatial hotel constructed in 1912. In keeping with the conventions of the times, when the Negresco first opened in 1913 its front opened on the side opposite the Mediterranean.
Over the years, the hotel had its ups and downs and in 1957 was sold to the Augier family. Madame Jeanne Augier reinvigorated the hotel with luxurious decorations and furnishings, including an outstanding art collection and rooms with mink bedspreads. Noted for its doormen dressed in the manner of the staff in 18th-century elite bourgeois households, complete with red-plumed postilion hats, the hotel also offers renowned gourmet dining at the Regency-style Le Chantecler under its new chef Bruno Turbot, brought in from Normandy when previous chef Alain Llorca took over the equally fabled Moulin de Mougins.
In 2003 the Hotel Negresco was listed by the government of France as a National Historic Building and is a member of Leading Hotels of the World. The Negresco has a total of 119 guest rooms plus 22 suites.

I visited Scarborough, North Yorkshire yesterday and it was quite cold and breezy. The beach was almost vacant and the sea was rough. To the right there is Coney Island Amusement Arcade, the now redundant Futurist Theatre, The Grand Hotel competed in 1867 and in the distance to the left of it the Spa Theatre that opened in 1858.

Summer... France...Nice... Hotel Negresco.
Inaugurated in 1913, and listed as a National Historic Monument, this Belle Époque palace is located on the seafront promenade overlooking the Bay of Angels. Hotel furnished throughout with a unique collection of antiques and contemporary works of art.
Among others these sculptures paid my attention. They were standing and moving in a same time, rolling somewhere... The spanish sculptor Franck R. Tassi offers a representation of a mixture of various elements resulting from his concern about the relation of man in front of the universe, the society or technology. His style of expression shows man as creator as well as victim and often prisonner of his technology and even slave of his own inventions... It's from the official description of his sculptures Mechanic Dancer (Cyborg M.M.) and Jeanne De Loulu...
I use here my shots of these sculptures and an interior of Hotel Negresco to define the word "roller" as a symbol of our life. We all run, move, roll somewhere... We don't know where we go... Tomorrow is unpredictable but we're rolling there, we all are the Rollers...

Gulls (often informally seagulls) are birds in the family Laridae. They are most closely related to the terns (family Sternidae) and only distantly related to auks, skimmers, and more distantly to the waders. Until recently, most gulls were placed in the genus Larus, but this arrangement is now known to be polyphyletic, leading to the resurrection of several genera.
They are typically medium to large birds, usually grey or white, often with black markings on the head or wings. They typically have harsh wailing or squawking calls. They have stout, longish bills, and webbed feet. Gull species range in size from the Little Gull, at 120 g (4.2 oz) and 29 cm (11.5 inches), to the Great Black-backed Gull, at 1.75 kg (3.8 lbs) and 76 cm (30 inches).
