The Demolition of an earthquake damaged Christchurch car park

My trusted pencils came out again

This tulip was not in the best condition but was just playing around with a new Rogue Grid - YN 460 below and behind the tulip, pointingup at the wall, at 3/4 power with Rogue 45 degrees grid. Triggered by Yongnuo RF603's.

and the darkest hour is just before dawn...

thanks to the mamas and the papas & linda ronstadt for that song in my head

(well, thanks kinda)

many thanks to David Ligare (another beautiful forever friend and once-upon-a time-beau) for this image taken near his home in the hills of Salinas, California...

David and i lived high in the mountains over Big Sur when we met.. I worked at the Coast Gallery and he showed his (phenomenal) paintings there infrequently. ... We lived a 12 minute hike across a goat path from each other, high above the blue Pacific...

am glad for our steadfast, long-lived friendship..

David's paintings and drawings add their grace to Lulu's & my habitat ..some were gifts from him. (so-lucky me :)

If you wish to see some of David's paintings, for which he is internationally renowned: www.davidligare.com

To see what he looked like some years ago, he was his own model on "Homage to Petrarch..Toward the Meaning of Light".. (much more recently, i was his artist's model for one of the paintings shown on this website, too ..but not telling which! because he distorted my appearance beyond recognition to make me into a Classical Greek character.. :)

edit nearly 3 years later:

david changed his website and his Homage to Petrarch painting is no longer there.. so you cannot see him anymore :(

the one with me in it is still there.

This Champagne hot air balloon looked pretty drifting past my house in Bristol recently in the lovely clear blue sky.

"No' I wasn't on it", but it does look like fabulous fun though!!!

Desert = lot of cactus, lot of sky

I left the house. I had to be supported at all times by wires over my head. I made it home again.

Netherlands, Rotterdam, Kralingen before sunset after a nice day in May. One of the first pics that I took with my then new EF 16-35 f/2.8.

I have framed or put borders around photos before, when I think the image comes out better that way.

I took this photo quite some time before I got acquainted with ©© Carootje and her work. However, when I framed this last night, I was definitely inspired by her presentation style.

One more selfie but I guess it can't go in the Effra comp. unless I remove the Exhibition Road tunnel one!

GIMP: 3 cycles of NL filter, unsharp mask, black/white points + curves, desaturate -20 red, straighten 1 degree.

Who doesn't like to fly?

This would have been way more interesting if I captured it just an instant earlier.

Up a pole in Lion Yard, this was my one shot wonder.

Divine stabbers.

I was kind of concerned that this child might be in danger, so it's questionable that my response was to take a picture.

I was so close to stealing this happily napping dog.

Highly disturbing.
