Late afternoon after a big rain storm was departing, taken almost 24 hours after the last upload, I escaped the storm by flying to the mainland and driving 3 hours west of Athens. The architecture in Nafpaktos (Lepanto in Venetian, Inebahti in Turkish) is very different from the Cyclades islands, more Balkan in atmosphere, with red tile roofs, the Rio-Antirio bridge is visible in the very right side of the panorama, as well as fresh spring snow on the high peaks of the Pelopponnese peninsula. The weather was also remarkably colder in these parts, but with none of the vicious winds of the Aegean islands.

Looking down Buttermere Valley towards the distant Buttermere lake and Crummock Water from Green Crag above Warnscale Head Bothy.

A cold day on the fells with 40-50mph bitingly cold winds and snow that felt like bullets to the face.

A little out of the comfort zone on this shoot, really need to invest in some better cold weather gear and some crampons. Had a few tumbles to get to this spot!

A five-shot panorama stitched together in Photoshop. No filters used due to the driving snow and wind. The pano takes in the mountains of Haystacks and High Crag on the left and Fleetwith Pike on the right.

Panorama of sunrise on Upper lake, Kananaskis Alberta!

I’ve got a folder on my computer full of photographs that (for one reason or another) I’ve processed but not yet posted onto my Flickr stream.

This is one of those photos… it’s a seven image panorama… taken on the rocks near Llandudno beach… sometime in June this year.

Nikon D300, Sigma 18-200 at 25mm, an aperture of f14 and a 1/160th second exposure.

An evening at the Delicate Arch.

Love of photography does a lot of crazy but wonderful things to your lifestyle. I can say I would have never even thought of going for this if not for capturing this monument in my camera. It was one tough hike! More like a climb!

But once I was on the top I loved every moment ogling at this wonderful Arch and all the Delicateness associated. It was majestic and appears to be built by aliens!

I took a spot after walking carefully on the slanting edges and waited out for the sunset. Eventually, I had almost a dozen photographs next to me (I choose a good spot!).

I took a series of shots in portrait orientation to cover as much ground as I can. This is a stitched panorama of 28 images done in photoshop. I blended the exposures in the stitched photographs and corrected for perspective and geometry. The elevation seen on the right side is for real and is dangerously steep to walk on!

In retrospect I think photography is the best thing that has happened to me, won't regret any moment spent behind the camera!

Gear: Nikon D810, Nikkor 16-35mm f4, f5.6, ISO 200, 1/500.

This is a five image (portrait format) panorama captured with my wide-angle lens... of the Lower Consolation Lake... in Canada's Banff National Park.

Hiking to the Consolation Lakes requires much less effort than most of the Moraine Lake trails... they can be reached after a short (2.9 km) hike with a mere 65 m elevation gain. The Consolation lakes are actually called tarns - lakes that occupy glacially scoured depressions. Huge boulders that have tumbled from the cliffs of Mount Babel (shown on the right) cover the valley floor and have dammed the lower Consolation Lake. Most of these boulders were covered in ice and quite treacherous to navigate... so this is as close as I got to the edge of the lake. :)

Nikon D800, Nikkor 14-24 at 21mm, ISO 100, aperture of f/11, and a 1/400th second exposure.

Panorama of the Eiffel Tower

This was quite an interesting idea of me. There are thousands of photos on the internet of the Eiffel tower taken frontally. So I had this idea to flip my camera 45° from its vertical position to create an interesting angle of the tower. But in order to fit in the whole construction from its foot to the top, there was no other way but to shoot it in 3 steps.

The 3 photos where then merged together in Photoshop.

Personally I believe it worked out well.

I stitched three shots together to get this wide panorama of the Panamanian countryside. This is taken in the Gualaca district, in the foothills that lead up to the mountians in the Fortuna Forest Reserve (Reserva Forestal Fortuna).

Assemblage de quatre photos

Panorama (yes, shot at freehand:)) of sunset at the right with rainshowers on the left, and some mist in the middle. Stitched together from seven images.

This image of Paffstätten and Traiskirchen during an evening walk in the vineyards is stitched together from three images shot with my cheap SJ7 action camera (about 140€ at the moment). The camera has the Sony IMX177 sensor built in.

Stitching was done with Microsofts free ICE.

Whith that being said this image also belongs to the "how low can you go" series.

Here's the 8-image panorama that I captured at Michael Ash's Greyton farm called Clapperlark on Saturday morning... about 30 minutes before sunrise.

A word of warning... we only have 7 out of 12 spots left for CapturEarth's "Greyton - Jewel of the Overberg" photographic workshop from the 17-19th October... so if you're thinking of joining us here... please don't take too long to decide. That's a shot of the entire Zugspitz- rock massiv. It's photographed from 2000m below the peak near lake Eibsee at Grainau.

Yesterday I posted a Vertorama of Lake Louise… arguably the most photographed lake in the Banff National Park.

Today I’m posting a seven-image panorama of the least photographed (and visited) lake in the park… Island Lake.

Although Island Lake is indicated on most maps of the park… there is no clear path through the forest to reach the lake! The path that is there is not maintained by the National Parks… so it is very faint and becomes indistinct (and overgrown) in several places. The lake’s edge is also very marshy… so if you do manage to find your way to the lake… you would be best advised to wear waterproof boots… or at least advised to remove your shoes and socks.

So… having found your way to the lake… and having squelched your way around the edge of the lake looking for good compositions… this is more or less what you’d see.

Our small group arrived here in the late afternoon… the light had already started to soften… but the wind was still blowing and the reflections were practically non-existent! I setup my camera and panoramic-head on its tripod and waited for the wind to die down. I was worried that the tiny little island wouldn’t really be clearly identifiable as an island… since the light that was shining on the trees growing on the island was also shining on the trees behind the island.

But then… when I was least expecting it… a cloud moved in front of the sun… shading the trees behind the island… and providing the depth separation that I was looking for! I sprang into action as soon as I noticed the shadows forming… and quickly captured the seven images that make up this panorama.

I must have had luck on my side that afternoon… because this was the only time that the sun moved behind a cloud in the entire two hours that we were shooting here… and that it happened just as the wind was subsiding and the reflections were starting to look really good! I was stoked!!!

Taken at Patuha mountain while driving to White Crater.

2x5 shot HDR panorama. Processed at www.cloudhdr.com/ and stitched with Hugin.

This is a stitched shot comprising 4 shots, taken at Mesa Arch in Canyonlands, Utah, after sunrise. I had planned to get there super-early, but failed to hear my alarm clock and only got there just before sunrise, by which stage the rock in this shot was lined shoulder-to-shoulder, tripod-to-tripod with photographers. No chance. So I captured sunrise a bit further along, and only got my opportunity once the other photographers had gone. Some of them left just minutes after sunrise, even though I think the light was still lovely. Oh well, gave me a chance to get this panorama!
