What's behind her name...

HARUKA - from Japanese meaning faraway, distant.

What's beyond her name...

Let's take it from one of my favorite Japanese contemporary authors having almost the same first name as hers:

"People’s hearts are like deep wells. Nobody knows what’s at the bottom. All you can do is imagine by what comes floating to the surface every once in a while." -from Blind Willow,Sleeping Woman, Haruki Murakami

The "Collingwood Elevated" was a temporary shoofly built to carry PCCs over the excavation for Castro Street Station to and from the Twin Peaks Tunnel. Here, 1108 negotiates the shoofly outbound, as 1150 heads inbound. 1150 will cross Castro and bear right onto 17th Street, the location for today's F-LIne oouter terminal. Headed to the Smithfield Street bridge then downtown. This is near the P&LE RR station.

The two tracks on this line are gone but two are still used in the tunnel to the right.

Toronto Transit Commision PCC 4458 is eastbound on King St. approaching Downtown in July 1981.

Just a windmill at sunrise. But I sure do like windmills.

This is a PCC streetcar from Newark New Jersey painted as a Detroit streetcar. Information about this car is found here: www.streetcar.org/mim/streetcars/fleet/pcc/10 79/index.html.

Muni acquired this car in 2002. Lit by streetlights, taillights and zenon headlights.
