Another shot from Friday, this one handheld.

Pretty happy with the sharpness of my new 24-200 zoom, more so when it’s stopped down. Will try on a few beach landscapes over the weekend.

I normally visit here in the morning.

This is in the evening, about 8:00 pm.

The day after summer solstice.

Our daylight is getting shorter day by day now.

621/721 coasts past the Parramatta Road signal box, protecting the subsequent level crossing, as it heads back to Patterson as 7R04 following a day at the Golden Slipper Stakes at Roseville Racecourse.

Parramatta Road signal box is located on the Carlingford branch line. In January 2020, the Carlingford branch is slated for closure and conversion into a light rail system, as part of the Parramatta light rail plan by the State Government. However the heavy rail section from Clyde to Roseville is expected to stay open for race trains.

HMAS Parramatta was a Type 12 frigate built by Cockatoo Dockyard and commissioned in July 1961. This model at 1/72 is pretty much how she looked at the time with the original pennant number of F05 (later DE46). She survived, much altered, till 1992 when she was broken up in Pakistan.

"His Excellency the Governor of New South Wales, Sir George Gipps, and Lady Gipps were driven home from church and entered the Governor's Domain at Parramatta via the narrow gate. The horses were caught unaware by the sound of the guards snapping a salute and were so startled that they bolted. The carriage was dashed against a tree and Sir George, sitting on the box beside the driver, was hit in the face by a bough and badly hurt. The driver was also injured and it was feared he would loose an eye. Lady Gipps was thrown from the body of the carriage and slightly injured and the carriage was smashed to bitts." -from the S.M.H. p.18 29 Aug 2011.
