The day before we flew to Antarctica my deployment buddies and I hung out in the botanic gardens and drank wine. We wouldn't be seeing anything green for a while.

My last weekend in New Zealand, I spent a lot of time wandering around, seeing artsy films and sampling street-vendor food at the Arts Center (weekends, the place fills up with food and craft booths).
This was my last NZed sunset.
NZ beat the US (again...) 8-0, but it was an intense and fun match. Who knew I liked rugby?!

To think on my way to Antarctica I would have a layover in Auckland-the exact city that my best friend Kristin is now living in. I hadn't seen her in about a year and a half.

Kristin, Casey and I all rented bikes and rode them around these crazy hills all day to do wine tastings.
