Poppies Series I
iPhone 5s
www.iphoneographycentral.com/apps-uncovered-23-may-2014/
I'm really enjoying Spring and its flowers at the moment, especially the wild flowers, such as Butter Cups, Dandelions... and Poppies! They are all delicate and fragile and so beautiful!
The Poppies were taken with Hipstamatic Sergio lens and Blanko Freedom13 film.
As always my first step for editing is PhotoToaster. I slightly cropped the image and lowered contrast and saturation. To highlight the white flowers I used PhotoToasters Lighting Brushes. I love this tool which allows you to lighten and darken specific areas of an image.
Finally I applied the Concrete Jungle texture of Mextures which gave the image a painterly look.

A friend prefers this version I fiddled with last night after buying an app called Mextures for my iOS devices. The app lets one do light leaks and gradients on different layers. For $1.99 US.
Why not reduce a 138MB RAW photo taken with tripod and a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens and a teleconverter? Virtual head slap ;) Gee, and I see exif data. Does this change everything?
Thanks for looking ;)
7 Days With Flickr - Flora (Friday theme)
As always, a photo each day for 365 days. All shot and edited using Apps on my iPhone 5.
The photo was taken using the camera App ProCam for iPhone. The original image can be found below.
First of all I used an app called Leonardo to edit the image. This was done by adjusting the Colour Vibrance, Clarity and Brightness. I also boosted the Sharpness and Shadow Detail of the picture. Next I used Mextures to apply some lighting and texture to the picture. The preset that I applied was called Saturated Purple by Neal Dieker. After that I used the app Alien Sky to add the large Moon to the image. I then used Distressed FX to add a few layers of Overlays and Textures to the picture, the First layer was the Overlay called Egret and the Texture called Vanilla. The Second layer I added the Birds to the image with the Overlay Birds - Soulmate and the Texture called Broken. The last layer was the Overlay called Stirred and the Texture called Vanilla (second time using the same texture). Finally I used PhotoToaster to apply the Canvas texture and add the Shadow II frame.
The original photo was taken today in Kenilworth. This is a view of Kenilworth Castle. This time however I have taken the photo from another angle. This is an image taken from the side of the main Carpark of the edge of the Castle. I could not include all of the castle in this image because there is a lot of scaffolding in place on most of this side of the Castle.
Today's image was taken near to the Village of Stoneleigh. It is a view looking over the River Sowe near to where it joins the River Avon.
The photo was taken using the App VividHDR on my iPhone 6.
First I used the app Snapseed to edit the image. I applied the Tonal Contrast filter and boosted the Ambiance, Warmth and Saturation. Next I used the app Mextures to apply the preset filter Darker Days by Ryan Olde. I then used the app Brushstroke to apply the preset Simple S1. I also changed the canvas style to Primed. Finally I used the app PhotoToaster to add the Recover Highlights setting, the Green process FX, a small dark vignette and the Burlap frame.
Today is Chicago's Pride Parade.
Wednesday, we received this message in a card:
Thank you for providing a safe place for anyone and everyone to express themselves freely. Thank you for keeping your doors open despite possible fears. Thank you for being a place of love. And thank you finally for being a place to dance.
With love,
A queer Chicagoan
I am so very proud to work at Roscoe's and with every amazing boy, gurl, woman, all.
Today's image was taken late this afternoon in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter in the City Centre of Coventry. The view includes a few high profile listed buildings looking down Bayley Lane. On the left side of the image are part of the Ruins of the Grade I listed Old Cathedral of St Michael. On the right side of the image is a Grade II* listed Tudor cottage. Finally part way down the lane towards the centre of the picture is the Grade I listed St Mary's Guildhall. I took the original picture while waiting to pick my daughter up from her Choir service at the New Cathedral. This is one of my favourite views in the City Centre as it contains so much history.
The photo was taken using the app ProCamera on my iPhone 6.
First I used the app Snapseed to edit the photo. I cropped and straightened the image, then I applied both the Tonal Contrast and HDR Scape filters. I then add a little extra Saturation and Warmth to the picture. Next I used the app Mextures to add the
Wanderlust formula by Ana Gómez De León. I then used the app Brushstroke to add the Gloss G2 painterly preset. Finally I used the app PhotoToaster to add the Tone preset and a medium dark vignette. I then also added Canvas texture and the Leather frame.
