Brazilian Lucas Chumbinho got lots of attention after riding this wave at Pipeline Dec 13. I've seen many shots of this wave, so I spiced it up to differ a bit :)

Here Luca has his eyes on an approaching group of schoolkids who haven't begun their term exams yet.

Lucas had just returned from a couple months travelling around South-east Asia. His partner, Sofia, told me that she was glad he been able to do it. She had been to the same places with her parents. They will now be able to travel together, to places where neither have been.

Lucas and Sofia had been taking a selfie, when I first saw them. They asked if I would take a photo for them. Of course I took at least 3 photos of them with their phone. Then we had a bit of a chat and I told them about my strangers project.

There was a bit of a breeze and Sofia held my reflector with two hands while I took photos of Lucas. Then I got them to switch roles. Afterwards I made a few portraits of the couple together.

Thank you Lucas for being part of my project. It was great to meet you and Sofia.

I crossed paths with Lucas while on a wander through my London neighborhood. He and another guy stopped and handed me promo cards for a local club. They were friendly gents and I've been needing to get my 100 Strangers Project going again, so I asked if Lucas would pose for me. He gladly stepped up for the photo. As he had a job to get on with, I didn't engage in my usual chat session but let him get on with his promotion gig. I'm sure I'll probably see him around the 'ditch again soon.
