Sunset at waterfront Kota Kinabalu

It rained all week and on this morning there was a window of opportunity to take a couple of pictures when the rain stopped for about 20 mins when I drove by this mosque on my way to a small town called Tamparuli. I ran back to my car the moment the rain started to pour again! Google if you're curious to know about any of these places people!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Masjid Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (Kota Kinabalu City Mosque)was officially opened on February 2nd, 2000 following a proclamation of Kota Kinabalu as city status. It is the second main mosque in Kota Kinabalu, located at Likas Bay, about 10 - 15 minutes drive on the coastal highway.

Built with impressive and marvelous architecture closely and immaculately resembles the design of the Masjid al-Nabawi (The Prophet´s Mosque) in Medina, Saudi Arabia. The City Mosque was built on a man-made lagoon, which created an impression to be floating above water, a fine reason in bringing this landmark to be one of the City's main tourism attraction.

Masjid Bandaraya (MBR) Kota Kinabalu during cloudy blue hour (it was drizzling) with a hint of what's left of the sunset's pinkish hue (or was it the the street light? ha!) reflected in the cloud.

I never tire of visiting this beautiful mosque. It's in my must-visit list every time I fly to Sabah. But I must say that I had never thought of this angle before - so I'm due for another visit then, hopefully with a redder sunset!

Also kindly check out my timelapse compilation shot during this latest visit at Youtube :)

What better way to end 2009 than with a sunset shot.

Hope you all had a good one, and all the best for 2010!
