The Big Island of Hawaii is an amazing place. This sunset was one of those that had most of its splendor well before the sun actually hit the horizon. I had spent three days in a row driving from Ka'u to Kona to get some color in a sunset sky. I'll take this as a winner. These wells are very popular, for obvious reasons, and are extremely dangerous. The water rushes up and out and then spills back down into. They can easily take you off of your feet and out to sea. They're really quite awe inspiring to watch though. I've spent many hours just watching. The end of the Summer had the limu in the foreground a lot darker than its early spring green. The colors went well with the amber glow of the sun. I can still hear the ocean. This place has a spell on me.
my first photoshoot with her, which I was sure she would fail with flying colors ... boy was I wrong, she ROCKED.
I hope you will go over to my BLOG and see the rest of the images, and leave some love.

Plenty of rock-hopping black crabs (locally known as A’ama crabs) joined me for this peaceful sunset on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Kona Hawaii 4/18/09
This one was a bit of luck, we walked out of the Queens Market Place after dinner and there was this wonderful sunset. The sunsets are just so orange in Hawaii. Amazing!

The Single Girl quilt I started in January (I think?) is finally done! Took a tonne of breaks in between actually working on it, but I'm so pleased it's finally done! My long armer Laura quilted it in a baptist fan pattern and I love it! The back is a Moda Dottie and the binding is a Kona Coal, just like the background.
In the interest of variety in my photo stream, this is from our December trip to the Big Island -- somewhat subdued, but still beautiful.
Have a great start to your weekend! Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.

Endlich konnte ich mein neues Bike mal vor die Linse bringen!
Wetter war etwas trüb aber das war ganz gut so gab ein schönes weiches Licht.
Ich freu mich schon darauf wenn ich die ersten Trails damit lang segeln kann.

Well, we made the move, and then feeling exhausted, we decided to take 5 days on the Kona coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. More photos to come.

Yes, it was not a very challenging thing to put her on, but she doesn't have to be a circus act. The fact that she does any of this for me at all, is amazing. :)
