John William Coltrane (also known as "Trane") was an American jazz saxophonist and composer. Working in the bebop and hard bop idioms early in his career, Coltrane helped pioneer the use of modes in jazz and later was at the forefront of free jazz. He was prolific, organizing at least fifty recording sessions as a leader during his recording career, and appeared as a sideman on many other albums, notably with trumpeter Miles Davis and pianist Thelonious Monk.
As his career progressed, Coltrane and his music took on an increasingly spiritual dimension. His second wife was pianist Alice Coltrane, and their son Ravi Coltrane is also a saxophonist. Coltrane influenced innumerable musicians, and remains one of the most significant tenor saxophonists in jazz history. He received many posthumous awards and recognition, including canonization by the African Orthodox Church as Saint John William Coltrane. In 2007, Coltrane was awarded the Pulitzer Prize Special Citation for his "masterful improvisation, supreme musicianship and iconic centrality to the history of jazz.

After visiting Ironbridge James AJ and I went to see two friends very close to their hearts. June and John proved to be two very entertaining and wise people the kind that every one should have in their lives.
John was a natural story teller and had some great stories to share, I really enjoyed meeting them. I asked him if I could take some shots as he talked he said yes.

John Waller has been a part of Bridge Street in Cambridge for 14 years. He sells the Cambridge News. Now where would we be without John or the News: in the dark:-( He's been in Cambridge for 40 years and was a baker in London before he retired.
He's 80 in August but looks very fresh and boyish. To the question "What's your secret, then?" he replied: "BREAKFAST!" Fried breakfast every morning: eggs, potatoes, and bacon. EVERY DAY! Well, that's a lot of eggs etc he's downed over the 80 years!
As he's a permanent fixture of Bridge Street, like the lamposts and buildings, you'd think he just stays there all the time. In fact, he's quite a globe trotter. He's travelled to countries that some of us only dream of travelling to: Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Egypt, to name a few. But, I said, isn't he lucky to be in Cambridge. There he is sitting there and enjoying it all while he sells the odd paper. There he is right opposite St John's Chapel. "Yes," he replied thoughtfully, "very, very lucky".
I think I'm lucky, too:-))
John John Florence. A magician on the wave. Here he reverses in style in Rd 1 of the QuikPro France in Hossegor. He dominated the comp and became the new champ with ease. Crazy airs, forceful turns, and perfect barrel riding. He displayed his mastery in all aspects of surfing in France.
I asked him if I could take his photo because I dug his hat. He paused for a moment and asked "why?". I said, "Because I like it!".
I found out his name is John Rolle. He has had roles in "Of Mice and Men", "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest", two original musicals (Toy Boys! and The Kahoogaphone) and the title role in Shakespeare's Othello. He also appears in the film "The Trouble With Sex" singing two of his original works. He has done shows with the likes of Dr. John, Arlo Guthrie and Ultravox's Midge Uhre. Until recently he fronted two bands: a 7-pc. dance band called Cantaloupe! and his own 6-pc. Soul/Funk/Disco band, JJ's Soul Funkshun.
Straight out of the camera. Didn't want to mess with this one.
John Oliver Cabin in Cades Cove. I've always loved this old split rail fence that partially surrounds the cabin. It's got great angles and lots of detail. Trying to photograph an iconic place, such as this one can be a challenge to show in a new and different way for me.

John Lennon Park or Parque John Lennon is a public park, located in the Vedado district in Havana, Cuba.
On one of the benches of the park, nearer the corner of streets 17th and 6th, there is a sculpture of the former Beatles member John Lennon, sculpted by Cuban artist José Villa Soberón, seated on the bench's right half. On a marble tile at the foot of the bench there is an inscription reading: "Dirás que soy un soñador pero no soy el único" John Lennon, which is a Spanish translation of the English lyrics, "You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one," from the song "Imagine".
The John Hancock Center, at 875 North Michigan Avenue in the Streeterville area of Chicago, Illinois, United States, is a 100-story, 1,127-foot[6] (344 m) tall skyscraper, constructed under the supervision of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill,[6] with chief designer Bruce Graham and structural engineer Fazlur Khan.[7] When the building topped out on May 6, 1968,[1] it was the tallest building in the world outside New York City. It is currently the fourth-tallest building in Chicago and the seventh-tallest in the United States, after One World Trade Center, the Willis Tower, the Empire State Building, the Bank of America Tower, the Trump Tower Chicago, and the Aon Center. When measured to the top of its antenna masts, it stands at 1,506 feet (459 m).[8] The building is home to offices and restaurants, as well as about 700 condominiums, and contains the third highest residence (above adjacent ground level) in the world, after the Trump Tower (also in Chicago), and the Burj Khalifa (in Dubai).[9] The building was named for John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company, a developer and original tenant of the building,[10] and has the nickname "Big John".
The 95th floor has long been home to a restaurant, the latest tenant being "The Signature Room on the 95th Floor". Diners can look out at Chicago and Lake Michigan. The Observatory attraction (called "John Hancock Observatory") competes with the Willis Tower's Skydeck across town. John Hancock Center is in the heart of Michigan Avenue, a prime tourist hotspot in Chicago, while the Willis Tower is in the financial district. John Hancock Observatory allows a 360° view of the city, up to four states, and a distance of over 80 miles (130 km). The Observatory has Chicago's only open-air SkyWalk and also features a free multimedia tour in six languages, narrated by actor David Schwimmer.[11] From January to March the Observatory offers what is claimed as the world's highest ice skating rink, using a synthetic surface that enables the use of standard ice skates at normal room temperature.[12] The 44th-floor sky lobby features America's highest indoor swimming pool.[13]
