Never been a big beet person, but when I saw this HERE I just had to try it. The recipie is at that link. Regardless, it was delicious. I only had 2/3 the beets, so I supplemented with 1/3 shredded carrots which picked up the beet color. The carrots needed a bit more cooking though... A little veggie broth will give more of a sauce. The sour cream really did not want to cooperate for the shot...
Many thanks to sonicwalker for the recipie, check his site for more...
This is what I made for supper yesterday. There is nothing better than a bowl of chili with some corn chips and shredded cheddar. Just make sure you have a couple bottles of water (or something to quench your thirst) if you like it REALLY HOT!!!

My wife's birthday is the 15th, I have to work and one of the daughter/in-law/nieces wants to make her dinner on Sunday. So - I'm making her steak, baked potato, sautéed mushrooms and onions and a surprise for her - corn on the cob
I can still get those diamond grill marks years after being out of the restaurant business

Mmmm.... sirloin.
Kroger was having a loss leader sale, they limited you to two packages with $10 additional purchase to get this. We split our weekly grocery shopping into two trips (we live less than two miles from our Kroger) and picked up 4 of these.
This one is currently being defrosted from its few weeks in the deep freeze, soon to be flame kissed on the grill.
NO NOT LITERALLY!
This is Jessica! She is my new job! Even though I was not feeling really great on Thursday, I could not help myself when I saw my crock pot sitting there and an idea came to me how adorable she would look sitting in the crockpot! I actually did it in the kitchen, but it scared me having her too high up so I put it on the coach and wrapped her blanket around her for stability! It's no Anne Geddes, but I really thought she looked really adorable in the crockpot!

Sliders with Caramalized Onions, Shroomies, and homemade creamed garlic spinach.
Oh and melty cheese, dijon mustard, and ketchupy goodness.
Yummers.

I ran over the flying spaghetti monster during my travels and had him for dinner with a glass of Fat Bastard Cabernet Sauvignon. He was quite delectable, and the wine was quite good.
assignment52 "Summer"
Corn on the cob
Here is one of the great things of summer.. Cannot have a grill out with out this.. Yum.
GRILLED CORN ON THE COB
Husk and clean six ears of corn. Put 1 cob each on heavy duty foil paper with 1 tbsp water and cover corn with melted butter. Wrap very tightly so it will not leak.
The trick now is to put on a Gas Grill on medium heat with the cover down over INDIRECT HEAT for about 45 minutes.
By putting on indirect heat, there is no need to turn the corn as it will not burn.
The corn is superb! Easy and so good.

Actually a Florentinski zrezek, but the menu at Gostilna Pri Hrastu mis-translates it as "T-bone steak".
It weighed a kilo.
