I can so easily spend time and energy on things, that I know by heart will lead me nowhere, but to end up exhausted, anxious and disappointed. Still I do not listen to myself... I keep fooling myself with, "it's because of my goodwill I do it. To satisfy others..." and so on.

Only those 'others' doesn't give a damn and I know it... So, it just has to stop!

It's my promise to myself, that I will stay true to myself and only put my love, passion and energy on people, or projects, that really matters. No more energy-thieves allowed!

Let the mask fall and stay true to myself and others.

This kind of love, regardless and only:

"You owe me nothing for giving the love that I give

You owe me nothing for caring the way that I have

I give you thanks for receiving it's my privilege

And you owe me nothing in return" /Alanis Morissette

Today's image was taken this afternoon in the village of Berkswell. It is a view of St John the Baptist parish Church. This 12th century Grade I listed building is of Norman design. There is evidence though of an even earlier Saxon church on this site, as part of the crypt beneath the church dates back to the 8th century. Also in view in front of the church is a wayside preaching cross. The cross itself was restored about 30 years ago, however the stone steps are said to date back to Saxon times and predate the church. The preaching cross is a scheduled ancient monument.

The photo was taken using the App VividHDR on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Lightroom to edit the photo. I straightened the image and applied some noise reduction and clarity. I also added to the vibrance, saturation and contrast. Next I used the app Handy Photo to delete the overhead telephone cable and the small lights from along the pathway. After this I used Distressed FX to add the Stirred overlay and Lade texture. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Canvas texture and the Burlap frame.

Apps: SketchBookX, Handy Photo, and Glaze

My 8-year-old granddaughter created the source image in SketchBookX which I screen captured. (Only the paid version permits export.) Then I used the Retouch tool in Handy Photo to remove the brush control button at the bottom of the image.

After making her artwork my wallpaper for a day or so, I wondered what Glaze would do with the image. The resulting piece looks stunning with iOS 7's parallax and transitions!

Today's photo was taken early this evening just outside the City centre of Coventry. It is a view of St Mark's Annexe. This Grade II listed building was originally built as a church in 1868. The building ceased to be used as a church in the early 1970's. For many years since then it was used an outpatient department to Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital. The annexe was closed about after it was moved to the newer University Hospital complex in the Walsgrave area of Coventry. At the moment the building is empty and there are no current plans for the use of the old church or annexe.

The photo was taken using the app ExposerGL on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Handy Photo to edit the picture. I deleted a few road signs and a parking meter from outside the building. Next I used the app Snapseed to further edit the photo. I cropped the image and then I applied both the Tonal Contrast and HDR Scape filters. I also sharpened the image a little and added some extra structure. Next I used the app Brushstroke to add the Oil O4 paint preset. I changed the canvas type to Cold press. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Clarify preset, the Cross Process FX, a medium dark vignette. I then added the Canvas texture and the Burlap frame.

From the corner of Clay and Montgomery Streets, the Transamerica Pyramid stretches upwards, seeming to touch the perfect blue sky.

When reading some of the online literature about this building, I was interested to discover that the 2 wings that protrude from the upper parts of the pyramid house some critical elements of the building. The western wing seen here houses a stairwell and a smoke shaft, whilst the eastern wing houses 2 elevator shafts.

For me, the details in the crown of the eucalyptus tree on the lower right corner, and the oblique angles of the array of overhead electric cables for buses add to the atmosphere of perfection in architectural lines that this building exudes.

Today's image was taken this morning in the town of Kenilworth. It is a view of St Nicholas Church as seen from inside of Abbey Fields park. This Grade I listed Church dates back to the 13th Century. The Tower and the Nave were added sometime between 1320 and 1400. The were quite a few additions and alterations to both the inside and outside of the church during the 19th and 20th centuries. Due to this Parish Church being on the border of Kenilworth castle it has had have plenty of very notable worshippers. The most famous probably being Queen Elizabeth I, during her visits to Kenilworth when the castle when was owned by Robert Dudley, one of the Queen's favourite courtiers.

The photo was taken using the Cortex Camera app on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Snapseed to edit the photo. I cropped and straightened the image then added the Tonal Contrast filter. I then applied some selective brightness, contrast and saturation to the shadowed area on the right side of the church. I then boosted the vibrance and saturation to the whole image. Next I used the app Handy Photo to clone away the two signs from outside the front of the church, plus the street light from the edge of the gateway in the centre of the image. I then used the app Brushstroke to apply the Simple S2 paint preset. Finally I used the app PhotoToaster to add the Warm preset, the Vibrant FX, a Small dark Vignette. I then added the Canvas Texture and the Leather frame.

Today's image was taken this afternoon near to Kenilworth. It is a view of a nice countryside scene at the entrance to a Farm. Looks like the Horses were both enjoying a nibble on the grass.

The photo was taken using the App ExposerGL on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Handy Photo to edit out the barbed wire fence from behind the horses. I also used the same feature to clean up the grass a little. Next I used Painteresque to add the Painteresque 2 paint preset. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Contrast preset, the Vibrant FX, a Medium dark vignette. I then added the Stucco texture and the Charcoal frame.

This shot, peering inside the frilly folds of a bearded iris flower, is part of a series that I am building up over time (i.e., a polite way of saying over a period of a year or two). I marvel at the multitude of colors, textures, forms, etc. The back-lighting in this example from the gardens at our apartment complex was a special treat.

Today's image was taken in the City Centre of Coventry. It is a view of the Grade I listed Old Grammar School. The building was originally built partly as a Hospital and part chapel in the mid 12th Century. The main purpose of the Chapel was to provide care and relief to the poor in the city. After the dissolution of the monasteries during the Reign of King Henry VIII the building was sold to John Hales with the idea that he founded a Free School in the name of the King. After years of standing empty, the building has been restored and refurbished and will soon be used by the Coventry Transport Museum as an extension to the museum.

The photo was taken using the App ExposerGL on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Snapseed to edit the picture. I cropped and straightened the image, then I used the Tonal Contrast filter. I then boosted the saturation along with some detail in the image. Next I used the app Handy Photo to clone away the street lamppost that was in the way when I took the original photo. After that I used Mextures to apply the guest formula called Shiver by Ana Gomez De Leon. After I used DistressedFX to apply the Stirred overlay and the Vanilla texture. I then flattened the image and then applied the Cole overlay and the Lade texture. Finally I used AltPhoto to add the Expired (pink highlights) Toy Camera filter and frame.

Today's image was taken this early this afternoon in the City Centre of Coventry. It is a view of St John the Baptist parish Church. The Church is one of the most historic buildings in the centre of Coventry and dates back to the year 1344. The origin of the church starts with the land owned by Queen Isabella (wife of King Edward II) being given over to the Guild of St John the Baptist to build a chapel. Years later as Coventry flourished as a centre of trade the chapel was extended into the church near to what we see today. The church was closed after King Henry VIII's dissolution of the guilds 1546 in Coventry. It was also used as a prison during the English Civil War. Where Scottish Royalist Soldiers were imprisoned. As the people of Coventry were Parliamentarians, the prisoners were treated quite coldly. So the term 'sent to Coventry' became known. The building was finally restored as a church in 1734. The church is a Grade I listed building.

The photo was taken using the App ProCamera on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Camera+ to edit the image. I used the Scenery preset to brighten the image and boost the colours. Next I used the app Handy Photo to delete the crossing signs from the road, as well as the signs outside the church. After this I used the app Painteresque to turn the image into a painterly style. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Canvas texture and the Leather frame.
