Today's image was taken at the War Memorial Park in Coventry. The view is of a willow tree at the edge of the park. Quite dull and a bit windy today, so thought I would try to brighten up the image a little.

The photo was taken using the app ExposerGL on my iPhone 6.

First I used the Handy Photo app to edit the photo. I deleted the rubbish bin from the right side of the pathway and the sign from the left side. I then used the app Snapseed to further edit the picture. I cropped the image, then I added the Tonal Contrast preset. I also boosted the saturation, vibrance and ambiance. Next I used the app Brushstroke to add the Simple S5 preset. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Recover Highlights preset, the Vibrant FX, a medium dark vignette. I then added the Canvas texture and the Shadow II frame.

The image for today was taken in Upper Spon Street in Coventry. It is a view of the Ruins of the Chapel of Saints James & Christopher. Not much is really known about the Chapel. It is thought that it dates from the 15th Century. It was made of Sandstone and was probably a craft Chapel for the local weavers. The Ruins are classed as Grade II listed.

The photo was taken using the App Camera+ on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Handy Photo to edit the picture. I used the retouch feature to edit out the Bin and the Street sign from the image. I also cloned part of the bush at the side of the ruins into the windows of the ruins. This was to help hide the newer building that lies behind the structure. Next I used the app called Wood Camera to add the Merida filter, the Aquatic 2 texture and a dark vignette. I then used DistressedFX to add the Stirred overlay and the Bliss texture. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Warm Preset, a medium dark Vignette. I then added the Antiqued texture and the Charcoal frame.

Parc d'atraccions del Tibidabo. Barcelona.

THE PLANE.This was the last great work of Dr Andreu and is perhaps the most emblematic ride in the amusement park. In the words of the marketing announcement back in 1928, "It transports you like a giant bird over an amazing backdrop, and you will feel as if you were flying in a (real) plane." Built in the Estrada workshops in Sarria (Barcelona), and planned by the Fath engineers under the management of Marià Rubió, it is a replica of the first aircraft that flew the Barcelona-Madrid route. Interestingly, it is powered by its own propeller and inside it still preserves some of original parts from the period, such as those from the 1933 radio-telephone station.

Today's image was taken late this afternoon in the City Centre of Coventry. It is a view of the Christchurch (or Greyfriars) Steeple. This Grade II* Listed structure is all that remains of the original church. There have been two versions of the church on this site. The first which dates back to the 13th Century was built for Franciscan (or Greyfriars) monks. This was partly destroyed after the dissolution of the monasteries during the reign of King Henry VIII. The second version of the church was destroyed in air raids during the Second World War.

The photo was taken using the App ExposerGL on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Handy photo to edit the image. I deleted both the car and dustbins from in front of the Steeple. I then also applied a polarisation filter. Next I used Snapseed to edit the image. I applied the Tonal Contrast filter. I also added a vignette to the image. Next I used the app Painteresque to add the Painteresque 2 paint preset. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Backlit preset, the Vibrant FX, a large dark vignette. I then added the Scratched texture and the Shadow II frame.

From the destroyer, USS Cassin Young, docked in Boston.

“Built for speed and capability, USS Cassin Young engaged in seven Pacific battles in World War II, survived two Kamikaze hits, and served another full decade beyond her expected lifetime. Built in 1943 in San Pedro, California, she is one of 175 Fletcher-class destroyers built during World War II. Here in Charlestown, this navy yard built dozens of similar ships during the war. In the 1950s, Cassin Young and many other destroyers received regular repairs and modernization in Charlestown. Maintained by the National Park Service and an army of dedicated park volunteers, Cassin Young remains to this day as a testament to the crews who sailed her, and the men and women who built and maintained her.”—https://www.nps.gov/bost/learn/historyculture/usscassinyoung.htm
