This is a huge piece that I assume is custom for the Dallas exhibit. I say that because it is named "Dallas Star" which is a sphere as seen. This piece reminds me of Dallas' Reunion Tower, a major feature of the Dallas skyline, and is of course made in Cowboy colors.
When I first approached this I nearly didn't bother to attempt a photo as it was unlit due to some lighting error. I waited and waited for the repair that never came. Finally my husband took out his tiny flashlight and pointed it on the center, and I set my camera up for a 10 second exposure. I was stunned anything came out.
This one really has to be seen larger to appreciate the detailed work. Flickr squishes this and the distortion just doesn't work, if interested in more detail look here

Dallas was founded in 1841 and formally incorporated as a city in February 1856. The city's economy is primarily based on banking, commerce, telecommunications, computer technology, energy, and transportation, and the city is home to the third largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies in the nation. Located in North Texas and a major city in the American South, Dallas is a core of the largest inland metropolitan area in the United States that lacks any navigable link to the sea. - Wiki

Another shot from my photo safari with Mike Jones and James Mellard.
Kudos to both of them for showing me where the best place is to be at dusk just west of downtown Dallas....and kudos to nature and the man upstairs for painting the sky with those incredible clouds at just the right moment.
This is a 5 exposure blended image shot in RAW format and then blended with Photomatix Pro version 3.1 software. The software allows the recapture of the nuances of light and color that are often not possible to obtain with a single frame image.

Sadly I was unable to get out and shoot fireworks tonight. In order to keep in the spirit of the 4th of July celebration I'm sharing an older firework shot. Hopefully this will do. Wishing everyone has a fantastic and safe 4th of July.

I was revisiting some older shots and this one caught my eye. This was shot a couple months ago when Matt and I were shooting The Majestic Theater. Definitely a good night.
