Sadly England lost to Uruguay today and could easily be out of the world cup soon. I'm still watching and especially when the US plays Portugal on Sunday.
I apologize to all the English as this is the only England flag I have. The 'CAFC' is for Charlton Athletic Club and the London team I and my London friends support. I need a proper flag.
I'll be back to film photography after the World Cup.
The office of one of my co-workers.
This has nothing to do with the world cup. It's always like this. If anything, he's toned it down to emphasis the fact that it has nothing to do with that particular competition.
The footnote to this is that we went to Pickwick's pub in Woodland Hills to watch England vs. Sweden - two great goals by England, two rubbish lazy flukey luck bastard goals by Sweden - and while we were there Paul had his silly England flag pointy finger taken by someone.
Paul recovered it from this rather sad looking little bloke who had taken it outside.
When we were walking back to Paul's car, we saw this guy carrying the flag that he had snatched off of Paul's window - the stick part was snapped off, with just the clip and a stub of plastic stick left.
There were something like ten of us watching this guy return to his very battered gold Toyota Camry, and we were shouting after him to bring the flag back. He denied it was Paul's flag and insisted it was his, despite the fact that it was quite obviously broken. We tried to surround the car but he peeled out backwards and sped off down another street. He was a very scary man, the type that might even keep a gun in his car.
Anyway we all had a good laugh about it - very weird behaviour indeed. I bet we see him in Pickwick's again.
With 593 on the board, about ten minutes before the rain comes and a South African skipper having had a bad two days, you've got to put the pressure on.
Every time I took the train past this hellish wasteland (it is not really that hellish, actually), I vowed to get a good picture of it. This was as good as it got.
Town Hall at Bridgnorth, Shropshire, England.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bridgnorth Town Hall occupies a prominent position in the High Street where it has stood since the 17th century. Its location shows the importance of the building’s role in the civic and legal life of the town. The Town Hall is a listed building comprising an oak framed hall atop stone pillars. The hall was built on stilts to provide a covered market place for the town. Markets are still held beneath the hall every Friday and Saturday and twice a month on Sunday.
The current interior comprises the Council Chamber, the Court Room and the Waiting Room which now serves as a Tea Room. The largely 19th century interior is panelled throughout in oak and furnished partly with church benches and partly with custom made carved chairs. A local carpenter, Harry Perry, is believed to have carried out extensive work on the panelling and carvings as well as working as a journeyman on York Minster and the Russian Imperial palaces.
The Town Hall’s crowning glory is her stained glass. Regarded as some of the finest work of the 19th century, the windows were installed to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee in 1887. They can only be appreciated from inside of the building
This is a mirror shot taken in the early 1980's in England on one of our family trips to Clanwilliam House.
I'm planing on uploading over time all the photos I had submitted to the now defunct (?) "Mirror Project" site run by Heather Champ.
