Today is election day here in Seoul. Our subway stop has been absolute chaos of late with coordinated singing and dancing to endorse the candidates (only in Korea). To say I'll be relieved when it's over is a vast understatement. Alas here is a shot I took last evening to depict the hectic pace around here.

I happened to be staying in our nation's capital on the day of our national election and fog was forecast.... and fog it was.... except in this location. Commonwealth Avenue bridges leading to parliament house and the flag on top. Forgot to bring my filters so the foreground water is sharp but with the fog dissipated the balloon had just taken off which made up for it. Bit of a rush as the balloon was starting to move quickly but I just managed this one before 24mm was not wide enough. Ended up a nice balance I think.

I was on a brake between assignments with the railroad. There was a roll of film that had a few shots left so I decided to grab the camera and take a walk from Union Station, down Pennsylvania Avenue to the The Ellipse, just out side of the south lawn of The White House. I wanted to document the mood during this important day in our nations capitol.

It is difficult for me to watch what is going on with American politics. I saw this sign this morning and it raised my spirit, just a little.

Good voting!

At the end of the election, families and friends gathered in a restaurant next to a temple to watch the results come in on the TV. Was almost like watching soccer match.

tulad ng inaasahan, sangkatutak na election kalat ang bumati sa akin sa lugar na pagbobotohan ko. sangkatutak na papel, poster at banners ng mga mukha ng kandidato na para bang nagmamalasakit sa akin.

The billboards go up and promptly get ripped down.

This photo collage represents my general sense of foreboding about our election and the state of the Union. Tomorrow marks the Iowa primary, the official beginning of a nine-month process to re-elect the current or elect the next president of the United States.

Given everything that's happened over the past five years, I wonder if the election will even be a fair one. Or is it just a sham, broken by cheating and hacks? Is our democracy over?

Even worse, the ramifications will surely impact the next generation as they are left with the fallout from a dark turn towards lies, corruption, and hate. I hope for better times.

This truck had a UAW Kerry sticker on the driver's side and a Bush sticker on the passenger side. Couldn't get close enough to get a clearer picture.

It'll be interesting to see what smart aleck comments show up on this one.

With Australia’s Federal election less than a fortnight away, the spies and touts are out, often covertly looking to persuade people to vote for their parties.

This Eastern Water Dragon popped up in the vegetation at the Roma Street Parklands in Brisbane. I wonder what party he or she is promoting?

The reactions of the inexperienced, especially overseas tourists are quite amusing when they run across one of these dragons sunning themselves on the paths. It’s even funnier to watch when they suddenly spring to life and lumber off like something out of Jurassic Park. They are quite big at times, but not quite that big. The lizards that is!

I read this light hearted piece about our election today and it did make me laugh.

An explanation of how our Election turned out.

So the Conservatives won...but lost ...Labour lost ....but won....the SNP won and lost in Scotland but still won and the Conservatives won in Scotland but lost.. .the government was Tory but now can't be even though it is still and they need to make some Irish people Tory so they can be in charge even though they were and still are...UKIP lost but because of Brexit they already won ...18 Independent won but didn't win because they don't have a party so they lost but are now MPs so they won ...the winner, Theresa May, is being told to resign because she didn't win and she won't because she won even tho she lost...

All seems perfectly straight forward to me. In fact clear as mud.

This is not a bitter crop: The only 'Strange Fruit' we have in America's trees tonight are our bicycles. We've hung them there while we celebrate because our city's bike racks are full.

Just saw this juvenile bald eagle land in the neighbor's tree across the street. Good timing, this election day -- I hope all my US friends have made time to vote!
