Seen on my recent trip to Weymouth, these beautiful creatures were giving rides to children on the beach. They were in fantastic condition, well shod and obviously well loved by both the owner and the children.

Connemara Donkey captured looking across the fields out in the countryside of rural Ireland.

I believe this breed of donkey is getting scarce which is a great pity-but in this neck of the woods they keep them mainly as pets.

Do you like this photograph of the donkey Irish style.

Your comments are greatly appreciated.

Thank You.

A donkey called Shrek living happily in the secret Donkey sanctuary, he can't hold ears up anymore but he's happy now and soo loving.

A nodding donkey (also called pump jack,oil horse, donkey pumper, pumping unit, horsehead pump, rocking horse, beam pump, dinosaur, sucker rod pump (SRP), grasshopper pump, Big Texan, thirsty bird, or jack pump) is the overground drive for a reciprocating piston pump in an oil well.

Here is a typical example with a bit of a rain cloud behind it.

“The Donkey

When fishes flew and forests walked

And figs grew upon thorn,

Some moment when the moon was blood

Then surely I was born.

With monstrous head and sickening cry

And ears like errant wings,

The devil's walking parody

On all four-footed things.

The tattered outlaw of the earth,

Of ancient crooked will;

Starve, scourge, deride me: I am dumb,

I keep my secret still.

Fools! For I also had my hour;

One far fierce hour and sweet:

There was a shout about my ears,

And palms before my feet.”
