Connemara Donkey captured looking across the fields out in the countryside of rural Ireland.
I believe this breed of donkey is getting scarce which is a great pity-but in this neck of the woods they keep them mainly as pets.
Do you like this photograph of the donkey Irish style.

Seen on my recent trip to Weymouth, these beautiful creatures were giving rides to children on the beach. They were in fantastic condition, well shod and obviously well loved by both the owner and the children.
A nodding donkey (also called pump jack,oil horse, donkey pumper, pumping unit, horsehead pump, rocking horse, beam pump, dinosaur, sucker rod pump (SRP), grasshopper pump, Big Texan, thirsty bird, or jack pump) is the overground drive for a reciprocating piston pump in an oil well.
Here is a typical example with a bit of a rain cloud behind it.

Night was falling when I saw this donkey, almost asleep in the cold and snow. He welcomed me and seemed far less stupid than they say !

When fishes flew and forests walked
And figs grew upon thorn,
Some moment when the moon was blood
Then surely I was born.
With monstrous head and sickening cry
And ears like errant wings,
The devil's walking parody
On all four-footed things.
The tattered outlaw of the earth,
Of ancient crooked will;
Starve, scourge, deride me:
I am dumb, I keep my secret still.
Fools! For I also had my hour;
One far fierce hour and sweet:
There was a shout about my ears,
And palms before my feet.
Who knows from whence comes the monstrous sound of a donkey?

Again, the road at dawn, filled with activity. In Ethiopia the beasts of burden seem to be the donkeys and, in some cases, the women who carry huge loads of firewood on their heads. Hence, my very narrow focal point is the man on the cart and the ears of this particular donkey.

It could be "Mentios", the most common name in Greece for a donkey...

I stopped beside the road a few miles from my house to get a picture of the house across the road. These two donkeys came over to the fence; so, I took their picture. They probably expected food.
