Yesterday we had a crazy Spring snowfall of 6-8". We have had a very unusually dry winter so much so that the snow that fell yesterday was more than had fallen the first 3 months of the year. As the sun rose this morning it started to melt the snow on this stalk creating the beautiful droplets in to capture the magnificent sunlight.

I wanted to process this in color but could not get the snow to not look so blue, especially the snow in the shade. Anyone have any hints on how to fix it? I tried to warm it up but then the grass looked too yellow. So monochrome it is.

Caught the sun coming through the clouds so whipped out my iPhone and captured this image, then a little bit of enhancing in photoshop.

If you wish to take such photo go about moaning for the entire evening until someone does something to hush you... in this case it was Nicky pulling out the next best thing from a shelf, which happened to be his mum's dictionary with a dry orchid inside. a sorry view but makes a perfect photo subject. so the bit that you see in the middle is a very old orchid petal.

surprisingly it's another photo that I like!

Socks Week

Thomas is the most demanding cat ever - He waits on the path when I get home. He greets me when my alarm goes off with a baleful meeeow because I was sleeping and paid him zero attention for the last 6 hours! I can call him like in this photo and he'll sit at my feet talking away - no bribery necessary. I carry no tuna.

He really is louder than life and more like a dog than a cat!

Camouflaged pencils - yes, I am that desperate today!

The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see Nature all ridicule and deformity, and some scarce see Nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, Nature is Imagination itself.

Went back to the Pakenham bridge for some some more long exposure experimentation. When I was there a few days ago I saw the remnants of what looked like the old bridge and saw a possible shot.

This week's theme is "Who you are".

I love spaghetti. Just adore it. With tomato sauce, meat sauce, alla carbonara, you name it.

But it's something that I will never order in a restaurant, because it can't possibly live up to my gold standard: my mom's quasi-Bolognese sauce. This is the sauce I've been trying to replicate almost weekly since I moved out in 1993 and have yet to reproduce. No matter - all the fun is in the experimenting.

Too bad my belt disagrees.

Llyn Ogwen is a lake in north-west Wales. It lies alongside the A5 road between two mountain ranges of Snowdonia, the Carneddau and the Glyderau.

Llyn Ogwen lies at a height of about 310 metres above sea level and has an area of 78 acres, but is a very shallow lake, with a maximum depth of only a little over 3 metres. It is fed by a number of streams from the slopes of the mountains which surround it, which include Tryfan and Pen yr Ole Wen.

The lake is popular with anglers and is said to contain excellent trout.

Not exactly a bird, but related :) These are fresh-laid eggs from a neighbor's hens. Happy Easter!

Day 106 2015

Took my grandson to the park today and in amongst the reeds on the pond is this coots nest with one chick and one egg yet to hatch and a swans nest with four eggs.

I never appreciatted how spoilt city living people are when it comes to wildlife we were stood 10 feet from a swans nest and they just werent bothered by us!

Day 106 - Northern Gels

Hello everybody, my name is Daniel and I am a colour addict...

I really love looking at those desaturated Portraits with that edgy look, but for some reason I'm not able to shot or later on edit those. I always end up with colours.

This shot was taken with a whole bunch of those gels I always talk about, shooting a flash throught them and defocusing the lens... I tired a couple of shots with focusing on the gels, but ended up liking this one more.

It was so nice driving home from work this evening in the sunlight. I decided that a nice landscape shot was more appropriate than a photo of my blue angry bird socks!

This is a shot of Kelston Park, just outside of Bath. I drive past it everyday on my way to andfrom work and today was the day to stop and take a few shots in the evening sunlight.

It was just nice that there was no rain for once.....

I've driven past this spot for a year now since I changed my route to work to try and avoid the traffic and help my fuel consumption.

It is a lovely drive through the hills and villages into Bath. The scenery is lovely on days like today.

I'll sort of miss this part of my commute when I start my 6 month adoption leave in a few weeks. but hopefully a move to a store less than 45 minutes away will be negotiated on my return to work in 2014!

So today I met up with Ant Mclean and we had a day in Birmingham! I think we walked about 20 miles today (possibly an over exaggeration!) It was nice to have a change of scenery, and meet a Flickr friend!

Awesome day.. Tired out now though! I have some pretty cool shots I'd like to share with you all so I might have a Urban theme this week.. In the city. I'll have a think over night if I'm going ahead with the theme, so this post may get updated : )

It's been years since I've been to Birmingham and it's changed so much!

(Update) I have decided to have a city themed week! It's not often I'm going to be able to get out shooting urban shots, so I figure this will be a good way to showcase my little collection : )

Breathe

I have been having problems breathing all week...this didn't help...

I've had this idea formulating for quite a while - and I guess tonight was the night to give it a go...I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, although there was a lot of post involved...post what? Post apocalypse? ;)

day 106...

Yes it is an outtake from yesterday, but I loved it so I thought what the hell.. Ill post it. Also, Im very busy today and I don't think I will have time to take a photo.

Thank you for all your faves and comments on yesterday's photo it means so much to me!

Im thinking about doing a free print giveaway.. so keep your eyes peeled for it.

Hope you all have a great weekend! =)

Shot on iPhone 6.

Went for a run this afternoon after work. I took a lot of pictures partly because it was hot and sweaty and stopping to take a picture seemed like a good idea. Also, I never really got that one shot I was happy with - hence the collection.

This is a really nice place to run or cycle along the Brisbane River. You'll notice this footpath doesn't float on water - the previous one that was here did float on water, until the 2011 floods when it rather spectacularly floated away.

Oh, and I'm not very good at remember themes of the week, but this one certainly sums up who I am - a bloke who runs and takes pictures on his iPhone, often at the same time.
