...were taken in Washington DC, March of 2008... I had a "monopod" and used the preset "night" setting on my Sony. I still love these pics. Now I can polish them up a bit too.
Thanks in advance for your visits and faves. Your comments and feedback are greatly appreciated. The best way to say thank you from me is to post more pictures.

This DC-6B, build in 1958, is owned by Red Bull and is a beautiful part of their aircraft fleet based in the Hangar 7 in Salzburg, Austria. It's a truely historic plane as it was ordered as a luxury model from former Yugoslavian Premier Marshall Josip Broz Tito for him and his VIP guests. Later it was sold to Zambia's head of state Kenneth Kaunda. Finally it made it's way to Austria and it's restauration began in 2001. Now it operates under the Austrian registration code OE-LDM for Red Bull.
I took the picture at "Scalaria Air Challenge" in St. Wolfgang, Austria. I processed the sky as the clouds where grey in grey and also added some lens flare. So it's not so less edited, but I like it this way. Hope you like it too.
Might seem like an odd choice of subjects, but I love the symmetry, lights and patterns in the metro stations in DC. This is Virginia Square/GMU station, which is in Arlington, VA.
Not an easy subject without a tripod!
(The geek in me is always reminded a bit of the launch bays in Battlestar Galactica....)
On Explore/interestingness for December 11; highest position #28.
still got a bunch of dc shots i haven't uploaded, shame on me! lol! this one is the view of the washington monument from the tidal basin. i like the reflection on this one.
please check out the rest of the set if you have time.

I lived in DC for a year and never viewed the canal, that I can remember, till today. This is one block south or west of where PA Ave or M St. meets Wisconsin Ave. in Georgetown.
Been a couple of months , seems like ages ago
that's a 20 something shots panorama

This classic Washington DC view of the United States Capitol at night is taken from the grass near an asphalt area on the East Front that appears to be used by news crews to provide a capitol backdrop.
Tripod rule notes: I used a tripod for this photo (seven bracketed frames). For anyone looking to use a tripod at the Capitol, you can obtain a free, one day photography permit. I was told that it allowed me to setup anywhere in the grass. The permit itself is free but it could take a while to obtain it. The officers need to walk you through the capitol (two or three elevators down) to the security office. The process itself is quick but it takes a while to be escorted down and back. If they are busy, it could take longer so plan the time into your schedule. They were friendly and not busy when I was there and it still took a while due to the security office location.

Took a quick trip to DC this past weekend. Not enough time, as usual, but had a good time. This is just off the Mall past the Air and Space museum.
From tonight, I knew I went out for a reason - I just didn't know what it was until I finished with this image.
one more from my dc visit. not sure what stop this is, but i think this was on my way to the national zoo. i had the cam at a higher ISO, which gave the shot some noise, but i think it actually gave the photo an interesting look.
please check out the rest of the set if you have time.
will not be able to visit much tonight, my friends, a bit busy with work (yes i do work!) lol!!! will catch up in the morning! take care...
I first visited Washington DC when I was 20, and remembered the weirdness of the metro for years afterward. The tunnels for the stations are absolutely enormous, especially compared to the Tube in London. Ten years later I returned with a wide angle lens and a desire to try and capture some of the weird old-futureness of DC's metro stations.
This Douglas DC-3 in Alaska livery was built for the 2018 Mukilteo WA Lighthouse festival collaboration: an air show at Paine Field.
It's all lego except for the couple of custom made stickers.

Another angle from near the Washington Monument. Looks pretty warm and inviting, right? Actually it was so cold with the wind chill that afternoon that the humidity started freezing like five min after I took this shot. 5 exp.
