Wow.. that is the fastest I've ever had a photo on Explore.. Just a few hours after posting :)

SOOC.

I got my new lens today! :)

It was too dark to use it outside, by the time I got home..

so I used the Christmas lights that I also bought today.

Clearly I am going to go a little crazy with the bokeh this week.. hah.

All I need now is the remote I ordered!

I may switch this later.

I am off to work until midnight, bye for now Flickr! Shift Canceled!

Is always hard...

Page is waiting for that important hour when she will know where she is going...SOON! :D

Kiva and Stuck In Customs

Today, I am announcing that a percentage of all book profits will go to Kiva. I have written a little bit about Kiva on the Charity page here on the site. Also, I made this little video to tell you what the heck Kiva is. If you haven't heard of it before, it's probably not what you expect!

To get started, come join Team Stuck In Customs and let me know your experiences! You can either put it here or on the Charity page.

Live Interview Today (Nov 9) on TWIP (This Week in Photography)

Watch LIVE HERE!

At 11 AM PST (1 PM CST), tune in live to the video at Leo Laporte's TWIT cottage here on live.twit.tv. I won't be talking about HDR today... I think that is being saved for a future interview when the book comes out. However, I will be talking about that video method I used to make the "Moments Between" video.

Come tune in Live and send Tweets along the way to @frederickvan! If you miss it, you'll have to wait for it to be released on Wednesday! Don't let that happen!

Today's Photo

Our daily photo today comes from deep in the Andes. Getting to this position was not as long a hike as the others around Patagonia, but it was no cakewalk! It was one of those strange river-rock strewn areas where the rocks seemed to be the perfect size for spraining your ankles. I had the tripod extended to act like a walking stick, although it's not the most handy walking stick with a giant Nikon on one end of it!

So funny, I was looking through my inventory for unfinished business and found these statues I completely forgot about. It was a custom job I did a few years ago for a metal band with egyptian vibes called BaK (www.bakmusic.com). You can see the picture with the statues on their page. They wanted to have them in Second Life, I don´t know if they are still around there.

The Custom House (Irish: Teach an Chustaim) is a neoclassical 18th century building in Dublin; Ireland. I took this photo on a three day visit to Dublin about half-hour after capturing Talbot Memorial Bridge from the opposite side of the River Liffey.

Thanks for looking!

Hello all my friends! here is a new girl Fairyland Shushu, i think she will be the last for a long next time, because don't have enough time for this ladies!! But she is here and she is beautiful, today straight from the post office from the make-up and know on my page and flickr!! Wish you all a perfect day *))

This is my custom Lego figure of the Joker from one of the flash back/hallucination scenes in the Arkham Knight game (the one where it shows how Barbra Gordon is paralyzed from the waist down). (See here. for what he looks like)

The hat, hair, shorts, shirt, gloves and watch are all sculpted out of an air dry sculpting material called Greenstuff. The figure was then painted by myself with Citadel paints. the face is a slightly modded version of the official Lego one. His legs are also shaved down to make them look skinny and bare.

A thing people might miss, and something that I only noticed after carefully looking at the character trophy of this character in the game is that he has a napkin in his right shorts pocket with a lipstick kiss on it from a certain H Quinn, I thought this would be a neat little thing to add to my figure also.

I plan on making some more characters from the game, hope you guys like this one!

For any more info on the molding material Greenstuff and tips on where to buy and how to use visit my info page here.

PS I've had a couple of people asking me about my new photo's and whether I cut the characters out and put them on a background. The backgrounds are actually taken in camera and it's just the figure, standing on a shiny surface with my laptop screen on in the background. I then just blend them in together on Photoshop (very easy because the background is so out of focus), and then add the rain and logo's on.

Last weekend I saw "Whip It" directed by Drew Barrymore starring Ellen Page. LOVED IT! It wasn't a perfect movie but it was super fun!!!!!

Almost 2 years ago, I was asked to be part of a roller derby team. But being almost 40, uninsured & a wuss, I decided not to do it. But man it sure looks fun!!!

Here Piper is cheering on her favorite roller derby team for this week's Wear It Again Wednesday (we aren't into football) ;0)

Old and previously posted shot on comments. As you can see it wasn't a big wheel, here's the proof :)

It's a pity 18mm weren't enough to get the full "wheel" on the second pic... together with the fact that I didn't have a tripod. I guess they should have made the river wider so that the handrail was even far away :D

As the youngest son of Lord Pennyworth, Alfred didn't stand to inherit his father's land and title. So he was sent off to be a page in Wayne House. He later served as Sir Thomas' squire during the Holy Wars. Though he never pursued the rank of knight, he continued to serve as the steward of Wayne House.

After Sir Thomas' untimely death, he raised young Bruce as his own son and taught him basic combat skills. Now he once again serves as arms bearer for the Dark Knight.

"She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid."

So this project has been in the process for a few months now, with about 50 hours and 3000 pieces wrapped up in it.

A few months ago, I stumbled upon a thread on Reddit about a custom Falcon. Upon further research, I found Dario Del Frate's Falcon post on moc-pages. There he posted a LDD file and many pictures, so here is the link if you're interested: www.moc-pages.com/moc.php/390350

I made Psiaki's X-Wing earlier on in the year, so I figured what the hell, might as well have a custom Millennium Falcon to go along with it. So I spent about 30 hours total sifting through my collection for all 2700+ parts for Dario's instruction guide. I gathered most of them and only have to make 2 decently sized BrickLink orders. Then it took me about another 20 hours to build this thing. After construction Dario's Falcon, I decided to modify it more by adding details, extending it by 3 studs, and tiling off the ship.

More modifications are to come, like an interior, functional boarding ramp, and a better cockpit.

Even though this ship isn't my total design, I'm still proud of the outcome. This custom Millennium Falcon is now the flagship piece of my LEGO collection, so if you have the parts and time, I would definitely follow Dario's guide to make this beauty.

Also, sorry for not posting much this month; college, vacation, and work have been occupying me but I am working on a new Rick Grimes and 5 characters from Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope so those should all be done soon!

Let me know what you all think of this Millennium Falcon! :)

Here is another example of a cool custom Mando! Utilizing two different decal sets, I was able to create a one-of-a-kind figure. Want to see a step by step tutorial on how I did it? Then check out the upcoming BrickJournal issue! Jared & I have an article on how to think outside of the box even when you're already outside of the box!!
