"In life we cross many bridges.

We cross these bridges to leave the past and welcome the future.

May the future be as colourful and bright as you welcome life.

Life is a journey to be lived, not an existence to be endured."

This cross country ski trail is a sea of red from the Autumn leaves but by December it will be a sea of white snow!

Stump Cross Caverns is a limestone cave system between Wharfedale and Nidderdale in North Yorkshire, England. Their name was taken from Stump Cross, which in ancient times marked the limit of Knaresborough Forest. The area above the caves consists largely of moorland, the nearest towns being Pateley Bridge and Grassington. One mile of the caves have been open to the public for many years, although the entire system is much more extensive than the show caves, extending more than 4 miles (6 km). It has not yet been fully explored.

A simple capture of a footbridge crossing the River Coe on one of the nature walking areas near Glen Coe. The lush green surrounding was a pure pleasure but again it was wet, misty and dark, hence the high ISO :(

A challenge for my learning and skills but an opportunity for extreme exposure practise which went horribly wrong more often than not!!

The Second Severn Crossing (Welsh: Ail Groesfan Hafren) is the M4 motorway bridge over the River Severn between England and Wales, inaugurated on 5 June 1996 by HRH The Prince of Wales to augment the traffic capacity of the original Severn Bridge built in 1966. The bridge marks the lower limit of the River Severn and the start of the Severn Estuary.

Its location is farther to the south than the old bridge and, being more in line with the landward sides of the M4 motorway, is a shorter journey when travelling between England and South Wales. The junctions at each end are designed for most traffic to use this crossing – to use the old Severn Bridge crossing one has to leave the M4 and join the M48 motorway either at Aust or near Magor. The new crossing carries more traffic than the Severn Bridge, which is still in use. It is wider than the Severn Bridge, having three lanes and narrow hard shoulder each way, compared to the two lanes, cycle path and footpath of the original crossing. The path taken by the bridge is close to that of the Severn Tunnel which has carried the railway line beneath the river bed since 1886.

Cross? Looks downright crabby to me : D

As we were heading home, just after crossing the Stikine River on the Cassair Highway we saw a fox.

I grabbed the camera as I slowed the car only to find the fox was running up to the car, so I opened the door and held the camera below the door to take a few shots.

While I took the shots, as someone into wildlife, this is an unfortunate scene, even though we were in the middle of nowhere, this fox has clearly been conditioned to see cars/people as food. So he'll likely get hit by a car or trapped once he gets his winter coat.

A small cross (only about 12 inches high) in Stogursey Church Graveyard - the daisies and dandelions lend a feeling of 'in the midst of death there is life' to the image...

An old friend that I met every day in the last 12 months, is the bridge that crosses the river Olt, built between 1888-1891.

The bridge, built by engineer Davidescu, is the first metal bridge over a river in Romania.

In addition to its practical and aesthetic value, the bridge is one of the first attempts to use iron in architecture, an idea launched at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1889

This is the Arolley cross (2.310 m), located in the heart of the Gran Paradiso National Park (Italy), pratically at the end of the Nivolet plateau, above the Valsavarenche.

Valsavarenche is the starting point for many routes through the Gran Paradiso group, which is clearly visible here behind the cross.

It's also possible to see the night time illumination of the refuge Vittorio Emanuele II ... the tiny dot on the mountains :-)

The Milky Way crossed the sky from north to south, beginning its slow movement westward, as usual. Well, actually the Earth is moving ;-)

Nuns Cross Farm Dartmoor, my first trip out to this part of Dartmoor and I was hoping for a nice sunset but on arrival a threatening sky almost engulfed the setting sun, typical of Dartmoor and its unpredictable weather, added a bit of drama though! :)

St Cross Mill lies on the River Itchen just south of Winchester. Currently a private residence the original building was destroyed by fire and rebuilt in 1845. Constructed as part of nearby St Cross Hospital the mill ground flour for the inhabitants of the Almshouse which was founded by Henry de Blois in the 1130s.

It's too hot to do any more work outside... so I've come indoors to upload this shot. Taken just a handful of days ago on a frosty Iping Common. The contrast in temperature between the moment captured in the photo and today is remarkable.

The High Mobility Platform provides the user with an extremely versatile and capable frame suitable for a number of different roles. What the HMP may lack in armor it makes up for in speed and agility, and with a degree of rugged practicality that sets it apart from other platforms in its class.

Near the end of January my buddy Craig challenged me to build a mech that was practical in a realistic setting. I feel this is a decent attempt at that, but its up for debate.
