I'm as country as turnip greens! This old farmhouse reminds me of my roots.

Many a day I remember seeing the mist lifting and this visual being in front of me. Home is where the Heart is!

🎼: Country Roads~ John Denver~

Almost heaven, West Virginia

Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River

Life is old there, older than the trees

Younger than the mountains, growin' like a breeze

Country roads, take me home

To the place I belong

West Virginia, mountain mama

Take me home, country roads

All my memories gather 'round her

Miner's lady, stranger to blue water

Dark and dusty, painted on the sky

Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye

Country roads, take me home

To the place I belong

West Virginia, mountain mama

Take me home, country roads

Happy Slider Sunday - HSS!

MARGAM COUNTRY PACK IS A COUNTRY ESTATE IN SOUTH WALES OF AROUND 850 ACRES. IT WAS ONCE OWNED BY THE MANSEL TALBOT FAMILY AND IS NOW OWNED AND ADMINISTERED BY THE LOCAL COUNCIL WHICH IS NEATH PORT TALBOT COUNTY BOROUGH COUNCIL.IT WAS ONCE THE SEAT OF THE MANSEL TALBOT FAMILY AND THE 18TH CETURY ORANGERY

Captured while traversing country roads of Cotswolds, England.

Michigan was ablaze with fall color. There were the reds of Sugar Maple, yellows of Birch, and Maples, browns and coppers of Oaks and deep green of various conifers. And, the best way to enjoy them was to get off of the main highways and onto "country roads".

Near the high point of the Buttermilk Country loop, there is a beautiful view of the rock formations with the White Mountains in the distance; the Sierras are behind us. The rock formations here are similar to their more famous cousins in the Alabama Hills, about 60 miles to the south.

Hope you have a great week ahead. Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments.

Brighton Methodist Church

Built in 1881 by Norwegian immigrants, Brighton Methodist Church, the small country chapel shown here, cost $1,800 to build - a fortune at the time.

Rural churches were an important social part of family life in the 1880s. On Sunday, the family would dress in their Sunday best clothes for the church service and social gathering that followed the services.

This was often viewed as an opportunity to escape the hard work and isolation of farm life.

As soon as a settlement was established, the local families would join together to build a church for their community.

Many of the churches had strong ethnic and cultural ties to the specific nationality of the settlement. It was not uncommon to hear a sermon in German, Norwegian, or Swedish instead of English.

After the church closed in 1984, it was donated to Farmamerica by the congregation.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to visit.

I attended a World War II reenactment in Dixon, Illinois, on Saturday and spotted this immaculate 1940s era Dodge parked on the grounds. So I shot it in HDR and took it for a spin in Topaz Impression for Sliders Sunday, and for Our Daily Challenge: Auto.

HSS!

Flickr friends, I was offline all day on Saturday, but will aim to catch up with comments on Sunday.

Cedar Lutheran Church has been closed for years but remains well maintained and free of vandalism.

Hope This Finds All OF you Having Having A Great Week,

And A Great Christmas Season Too ...... Cindy

The weather has been pretty gloomy lately and it seems ages since I have been for a walk....I now have 7 days off work and not wanting to waste any of them I set off for a short walk from Ulley village down to the Country park.

The reservoir was built in 1871 by daming the brooks of Ulley and Morthen to provide water for the town of Rotherham....In the 1980s it was decided that it was no longer needed for water supplies and was sold to Rotherham council for £1. The council turned the venue into a country park with the water hosting sailing and fishing.
