I like macro photography because it is so simple, and it is easy to find. We don’t need to travel miles to find a small subject. Only I need a 35mm macro lens which should be one on one, so I can get closer to subject and still can focus. I have three macro lenses. Tokina 100mm without image stabilization, Sigma 105mm with images stabilization, and 35mm Zeiss less. I like Zeiss because of light weight and Sigma because of image stabilization.

Posting this as a souvenir--I figured I needed one from my first Iowa Caucus--not endorsement, necessarily. Figured some folks will enjoy it! I found it left behind under a chair.

Over 500 people caucused at my location and Elizabeth Warren placed first narrowly ahead of Bernie Sanders, Amy Klobuchar third. My first time attending! (As an observer.)

The poll watchers.

Before the real Iowa caucuses took place, Hillis Elementary School held their world famous Cookie Caucus. Substituting M&M, sugar, chocolate chip and Lorna Doone cookies for candidates, 5th graders served as precinct captions and poll watchers in garnering support and tabulating the results for the best cooking. The winner? M&M cookies with 39.1% of the vote.

The Flemish painter Peter Paul Rubens painted the meeting of Abraham and King Melchizedek after Abraham had just been victorious in battle. Reminded me of Ted Cruz's victory in Iowa...

Argyranthemum is often mistaken for Chrysanthemum. It is a great plant for use in containers. I captured this photo at the Trial Garden this past summer. (Zuiko 50mm macro, f6.3, 1/320 sec., 100 ISO, handheld)

Shari Hrdina poses as Rosie the Riveter before the start of a model caucus in Des Moines, Iowa, Jan. 29, 2016, on the eve of the first-in-the-nation presidential primary caucuses. People showed their support for the presidential candidate they believe is best-suited to stop the Bakken Oil Pipeline and lead a full-employment, WWII-scale mobilization to rapidly retire all fossil fuel infrastructure, drive the U.S. economy to net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2025, and restore a safe climate for humanity. We had our own version of the Iowa Caucus in class today.

Since the students didn't all have an opinion about who they would line up for, we had to do a little research. The Iowa Caucus, an amazing anomaly.

The line stretched literally all the way around the block. They had to disperse some precinct groups to other locations in the neighborhood, including a park across the street.
