This is the same place as I was shooting on my last trip. But back then the sun never rose above the horizon. See below for earlier shot. Slightly different pow.

Is there to much noise on this one? I saw now that I might have done too little with the noise..

www.gettyimages.no/detail/photo/aurora-borealis-in-northe...

Auora Borealis in Senja, Norway.

This is where my camera the 5 D mark 2 just wrecks it for me..

I was shooting the aurora borealis in a northly direction and the suddenly it all moved over to a eastward direction. I had no foreground plan but I fired off some shots. This was a 15 sec exposure wich is probaly some sec too long. The colors however was really something.

If you take a step back a tiger/devil figure will appear.. Watch out...

www.gettyimages.no/detail/photo/ersfjord-senja-norway-roy...

Tried some long exposures on my last trip north but as The Smiths said: some girls are bigger than others:p

I used my prefered calculation metod for long exposure, which is to wait right between what I can manage and what I think is needed.. And it was getting darker as I stood there...

So this was shot with 10 stops (grey filter of eight and a polarizer of 2).

And at 606 seconds to make sure the water got really smooth.. The quality is not good enough. Had to add noise reduction of 50 in Lightroom.. Should have taken the grey filter of:-(

Have to redo it next time.. The pov I am happy with.. Action all the way around...

Anyway, take care!

Previous title: Are you ready for winter?

These guys are:p

Shot at Bogstadvannet, Oslo, Norway.

Brunstranda, Flakstad, Ramberg. Some guys kayaking in the middle there. The light was unbelievable.

The mountain in the middle is called Hustinden and is 691 meters high.

The temperature in the water is best for photography:p

Quarter of a second to get the motion in the creek at bottom.

Okshornan they are called in Norwegian. Farley flat and boring sky so I had to add something else. I mounted my Wonderpana on my 14 mm and got the polarizer out for some reflections. Might be a bit busy for some:p

25 seconds at f 11. Iso at 100.

Is the editing to yellowish? I think I might take it down a bit?

Edit: Pulled it down 3 leves in Lightroom coldness bar.. I think its more in balance now.

My first thought was: Geee, now I have to wait out this dude and I will miss the very last light..

But after a sec I new that this guy is gonna make my day:p

The pov he has is the one that I uploaded yesterday (if he turn his lens around that is)..

www.gettyimages.no/detail/news-photo/this-is-the-new-ski-...

I got some feedback on the last shot about too much sky so I tried a new crop.. However with this raw file I`m not able to do so much more. Have to reshoot from a pov closer to the tower and shoot more both ways.. This is still the 30 sec exposure.

Anyways, I pushed the warmth all the way up to get a "different" shot... I guess some of you are fed up with this installation now so hopefully I can calm myself down on these shots for a while:p But it has been so terrible weather here so nearly no shooting lately.

Merry Christmas all:-)

HotShots

Rather dark day at the sea. But they had superb food and the atmosphere was perfect. If you look closely you can see people dining in the lowest main window.

Senjahopen, Senja, Norway.

Thats a ski slope over there that is lit up.

Senjahopen or Senjehopen is a village in the municipality of Berg in Troms county, Norway. Its population (2009) is 291. Senjahopen is located along the Mefjorden on the northwest part of the large island of Senja, where it is one of the most important fishing villages on the island. Another nearby fishing village is Mefjordvær, which located about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) to the northwest.

Although Senjahopen is about 10 km (6.2 mi) north of the municipal center of Skaland, the trip took well over an hour to drive, until 2004 when the Geitskartunnelen opened. The new road under the mountains cut about 95 km (59 mi) off of the trip between the two villages.

Kind of arranged:p haha..

1 sec at f 8 and iso at 100 since I'm on my tripod.

This photo was published on Flickr August 10, 2013.

The first day there were over 10000 visits.

The photo reached no 2 on Explore that day.

I`m not too happy about the editing here. But I have struggled so long now that I`ll just upload it. The fog in the valley back there didn't come out as cool as it looked when I shot it. And the trees on the right there looks a bit fake. Thats Bogstad golf on the left and Bogstad farm on the right.

Another one in this series. As long as the AB is different I am gonna call it seperate shots:p

Almost the same pov as the previous uploads, but different AB action..

Same shooting as I have uploaded before but different pov. The photographer who earlier had his cam the wrong way :p has now got into his preferd position.. I shot from where he is standing some minutes later. Will upload someday..

4 sec on f 8 at 14 mmm. With my wonderpana polarizer.

I think this is the best pov of the Ski Jump Hill that I have found. I have some similar that I have posted before. See below.

But this is different as I use the top of the fence (in lack of a better word) as a double line in..

This is a 30 sec exposure at f 14 at 100 iso. Shot with the lens above all lenses: the canon 14 mm.

Spent a lot of time editing on this as I knew that this was my best shot from up there. I finally went for this happy full of light look as I remember one advice from the group called The Gallery Of Fine Photography. They had a tread where they explained why photos where not accepted into the pool and the no 1 reason was: Your image is too dark.. Lol.. Not exactley sure what they meant but here it is.. A night time le full of light:-)

Anyways...

St Aldhelm's Chapel at night with the Milky Way arching above. The Norman chapel on St Aldhelm's Head in the parish of Worth Matravers, Swanage, Dorset. The square stone chapel stands within a low circular earthwork, which may be the remains of a pre-Christian enclosure.

Check out the reflections in the window of the abandoned car:p

13 sec at f 2,8 and iso at 1250. My first serious attempt to shoot this phenomen.

Thats Sørreisa downtown dead center.

This night out shooting on the first day of the year alongside with my wife is probably the best time I have had with a camera. The AB just exploded in all directions. The reflection in the car there I never saw before I got back home. It lasted for about two hours. During the peak my old 5d ii misfired about 8-10 times. It was not the cold because it was only a couple of minus degrees. But it has bugged me a lot. However I got a decent set of shots anyway so I probably shouldnt complain:p

Featured in the yahoo blog: travel.yahoo.com/blogs/compass/a-star-is-born--flickr-pho...

Okshornan, Ersfjord, Senja, Norway.

This is maybe the shot I am the most happy with from my second shooting at this unbelievable location.

It was a lot of ice around and very slippery on the wet parts and I had to calculate how far down to the wave I could go.. You always hear about people getting caught by some monster wave coming along:p

Anyway, some 20-25 waves later I got the shot I was after.. It was almost at my toes but it was worth it.

Am I off level here? I feel some tipping to the right?

The shells made for an cool foreground.. I will have to go back here.. Just so many more shots there:p

6 sec at f 9 on my 14 mm.

This is a so called Candela shell. Named after Félix Candela Outeriño.

This is another pov from the shoot wich gave me my most popular photo from the last year (and my first year as an hobby photographer).

See below for the other shot.

After I did the shot belov I watch into the lcd and just thought: I nailed it.. I saw it was gold. But I had this beautiful scene lying there and started to search for different povs. This is the next best from the shoot. Using the barrier and the work lift there as lines. However it will not match the shot below.

I also did some bw edits from this shoot wich I might upload..

Happy new year all! Good shooting;-)

And now over to something completely different:p

I paid to get to the top of the tower in the Holmenkollen ski jump in the fog today. First time there in the fog. Hoping it could make some interesting images. This is what i got. Not sure if it has any interest but I liked the way it looks like a robocop face down there. The other shots did not work at all.

This is a better one than the last. No bird, but more interesting cloud and color formations. I was so hung up on the bird that I thought that had to be the best. This was also take 20 mins later so the sun is not as bright. That made the editing on the other shot a real nuisance.

Still Bogstad golf on the left and Bogstad farm on the right.

Like I said in my last upload this is the 23.39 sun:p The first midninght sun was 2 days later..

This is Okshornan (the peaks in the center there). The fjord is called Ersfjord and the point of the camera is at Tungeneset. The island is called Senja. The area is straigt north of Lofoten and straigt south of Tromsø.

The puddles used for reflection here is small basins wich fills up by the waves coming in in hard weather.

This exposure is fairley similar to the shot from the other day, but the exposure here was better. Much richer details in the foreground rock! I also cut out a lot on the rifgt to center my wife a bit.. As she deserves it:p Hugs and kisses:-)

This is from early august. Waiting for the clouds to be better for a reshoot of some of the nice povs I found in this park.

This was from the same day:

A local Avalonian considering his morning dip with friends.

First idea for title was: I wish I had two wives:p

Too put in the other chair I mean...:p

But I guess there is a line in the sand somewhere.. They told me so..

This was from the outing to get some Milky Way shots of this old church ruins in Maridalen. I was working with my ball head adjusting a new pov and the I realized that there where not only one but two aircrafts in play. So I fired and went over to pose with my shadow on the right (still have no idea why I did that).

The aircrafts crossing like this with different colors is probably one in a million. If it work as a good shot I still dont know. It has some interest though.
