Spent my days with a woman unkind

Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine

Made up my mind to make a new start

Going to California with an aching in my heart..

I know the California Condor is one of the endangered species. Not sure about this one, even if it looks similar.

Any informations about my lil' lonesome buddy?

I went to the Museum of Natural History in Los Angeles and they had a pavillion of butterflies. I couldn't resist. There were over 300 butterflies fluttering all around me and it was beautiful. These butterflies are indeginous to California and I will post a few here. Enjoy and have a wonderful rest of the week! Thanks for stopping by.

A beautiful sunset along the California Coast. The colors were spectacular! No editing at all done on this photo- not retouched in any way.

Sunset at Shell beach, Sonoma Coast Sate Park, California USA.

Early morning. Another view taken as the sun rises over the eastern California desert (east of Yosemite).

I was looking forward to this view as part of our trip, and glad that this worked in well with our travels to hit the remote area early in the morning.

This weekend Llano Seco was a dedicated Snow and White Fronted Goose stopover. I watched as a group numbering in the hundreds approached from the east and were lured to the calls below. They veered, started to circle, then dropped altitude in squirreley dives before settling in. It wasn't a matter of minutes before something had them spooked, then up like a wild cloud of gnats, thousands of geese in the sky.

Must see in large view.

The base photograph is of the Alamitos Beach section of Long Beach, California, with a view of the bike/walk/skate path late on a quiet afternoon. (Regular visitors may recognize the subject, as I posted the unmanipulated photo in June 2012.) On this particular afternoon, I was aiming to frame some interesting bicycles with the palm trees. (Olympus E-300 & Zuiko 14-45mm zoom at 23mm [46mm in full-frame 35mm equivalent], f/9, 1/250 sec., ISO 100, late afternoon sun, handheld.) Post-processed with layers of painterly brush effects and then a partially masked texture (Chalkboard-2) from Leslie Nicole's French Kiss Textures.

After five days of nonstop rain the sun burst through for a few moments of hope as a huge rainbow spread its magic color fingers painting the sky with pleasure for all.

I pulled over as I drove and walked to spot free of urban poles and rooftops to get this image that makes me smile.

Took a drive along the back roads, plenty of old barns but to get such nice sky, I guess I was lucky.

I love Laguna Beach!
