#1 - thanks!
Final liight in late September which is always one of my favorite months at the beach in southern California. The sun was doing its daily disapearing act when I spotted a group waiting for the final last rays of the day to change from red and gold to blues and grays. It was a low tide night so there was lots of wet beach for reflections and magic hues to appear.

White Pine Lake, Arnold / Calaveras County, California
On 10/29/2014 when I returned to White Pine Lake, Arnold in Calaveras County, CA, I was hoping for a good quality image of a male California Spreadwing and when I was photo-editing this image this afternoon I realized that I did manage to get one.

Pescadero State Beach, California
As a light rain falls in the distance and large waves break off shore, throwing foam and froth onto the beach, a couple indulges in some photography on the rocks at Pescadero Beach. She is standing almost dead center in the image; his head is visible just to the upper right of her.
After four or so years of drought, California has had a sequence of storms this winter that have broken the drought and given us full reservoirs and a huge Sierra snow pack (30% of California's water comes from that snow melt).
We also have overflowing reservoirs, flooding rivers, and more mud slides than we can count. Many mountain roads throughout the state are impassable. And as of this posting another storm, a lesser one, is in the forecast.
The weather has cleared up again, but still a little windy. We went out to Briones Regional Park today and the views were awesome. All the rain and wind has cleared the smog out of the air, at least for now. I didn't even know about Briones until the other day when I was looking at another Flickr member's photos from the park. Thought I might be able to get some shots like his, but I ended up taking more macros today than landscape.
Check out his photos at: www.flickr.com/photos/moosehead/
This one is straight from the camera. No Photoshop........
Today we went to Stafford Lake Park in Novato to celebrate 2 birthdays.
Max and I got there a little early and played a round (almost) of disc golf. It was my first time on a real course and it was a lot of fun!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

One by one, the rice fields are being plowed, then flooded in preparation for the aerial seeding process. We came across this incredible reflection of the clouded sky on our last outing to Llano Seco. Well worth the view in large.

The California Harvester Ant (Pogonomyrmex californicus) is a native ant species of Southern California and Mexico.
As a kid, I remember seeing them frequently when I was in the forest or sandy area. Nowadays they are becoming more difficult to find. This is due to the invasive introduction of the Argentine Ant (Linepithema humile) and its ever spreading supercolony which is displacing most native species of ants.
Size of specimen is 5mm. Stack of 436images at 10x magnification.

I am a tree hugger, literally. In west coast my most favorite tree is California Oak, in east coast, Sycamore. I don't know why, but I do love these trees. There are many other varieties of trees that I love, and in every tree I see the rhythm and beauty of life.
I am trying to compile my tree images, those I took over the last few years in a new album.
Huntington Beach, LA. For Faye - this was the identical view to her desktop this afternoon (I think).
