The Industar and Helios lines of OzzRod’s family of Russian lenses are thrilled to announce the arrival of TAIR-11A at its new home in Newcastle, Australia. At 135mm the newcomer is significantly longer than the 50s and 58s that dominate the existing family, but with enthusiastic sponsorship by John Le Frog of Poitiers, France, everyone is confident that TAIR will settle in well, especially with the three 55 mm filters that accompanied it from the homeland. MIR-1 (a shorter, distant cousin) also joined the welcoming group.

Five windows in the southern wall of the Divisional Engineer's Office built around 1873. This is one of several buildings associated with the Honeysuckle rail workshops in Newcastle, some of which continued operating until the late 20th century. The area has now been extensively redeveloped into a commercial, residential and cultural precinct with restoration of key buildings like this one. The remaining passenger railway was removed this year.

An image that compares two pictures of the same subject (some Pittosporum fruits) using a Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar Zebra (8 iris blades) 50mm f1.8 lens with Thorium in the glass (left); and a CZJ Pancolar 50/1.8 (6 blades; no Thorium) on the right. Both pictures taken wide open; uncropped; and no colour alterations in post.

Two uncropped images of a Grevillea flower; the left using a Carl Zeiss Jena MC Pancolar 50mm f1.8 lens, the right using the Zebra Lanthanum variant. Both exposures at f5.6. The only PP was brightening of the final composite image.

I'm using this dual image to illustrate the yellowing that is imparted to an image using a CZJ Pancolar Zebra 50mm f1.8 lens containing Thorium. The original image on the left is a sooc jpg (resized only); the one on the right is the adjusted "real" view.
