Two food items beginning with B ... HMM!

Try wet fried bacon for the ultimate crispy bacon rashers for crumbling into salads and pasta. Simply rather using oil simply put a cup of water in the frying pan and let it cook slowly. The water eventually boils off, and the final crisping is completed in the rendered fat.

Omnom its Bacon Time!!

Bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich (BLT) anyone? It's that time of year when home-grown tomatoes are in their prime, so why not have that bacon, lettuce and tomato classic? Have you ever tried some of the variations...a bacon, onion, lettuce, & tomato sandwich (BOLT) or a bacon, avocado, lettuce, and tomato sandwich (BALT)? We love 'em all!

I know it's a cop out, but hey, it's bacon.

Just texture.

Macro Monday.

Bacon or Curtain Formations- Bacon formations are spaleothems that are thin sheets of Calcite and Iron Oxide that are deposited by water and drips from ceilings. Water is the main factor in forming bacon strips and will make a drapery formation when more and more water is left behind. These forms the orange and brown alternating bands that are make the bacon formations it's appearance. The orange and brown coloring is formed by Iron Oxide. If water continues to drop then stalagmites will form.

Reflection via an empty showroom of the Image of Francis Bacon in Reece Mews, South Kensington.

Beach bacon . . . or more commonly known as kelp.

I hadn't discovered kelp quite like this before, but on this particular morning and backlit with the sun it was stunningly red and gold . . . almost lava or toffee like too!

It definitely also reminded me of bacon too . . . or perhaps that's just because I had ventured to the beach very early in the morning and some several hours later I was hungry! Either way I thought it looked amazing!

After posting this image my Flickr friend Anvilcloud

mentioned that coincidentally he'd recently heard about kelp that tastes like bacon and so I googled it. For anyone interested this is what I found: Scientists create a seaweed superfood that tastes like bacon . . . amazing!

Bacon flavoured kelp could be coming your way soon!

"Avoid fruit and nuts. You are what you eat." - Jim Davis

Did a test run on these today; I'm planning on gifting these to someone for Christmas but seeing as I've never made them before and wasn't sure how bacon would factor in, I figured a test run that I force all my neighbours to eat was called for.

I used bacon bits this time, thinking that the time it would take for bacon strips to bake would be more than the time the pastry would take and that seemed complicated.

I haven't received feedback yet, so fingers crossed they're well received.

Recipe for those interested:

2 cups of flour

2 tablespoons of sugar

1/4 cup of cold butter

1 cup of milk

Cinnamon Topping:

1/3 cup of soft butter

1 cup of packed brown sugar

1 tablespoon of cinnamon

1/3 cup of real already cooked bacon bits

Vanilla Glaze:

1 1/2 cup of icing sugar

2 1/2 tablespoons of milk

1/4 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract

1 teaspoon of melted butter

Directions for the pastry:

1. Combine flour, sugar, and baking poweder.

2. Cut in butter.

3. Stir in milk.

4. Knead.

5. Roll out to a 12" square.

Direction for the Cinnamon Topping:

1. Combine the butter, sugar and cinnamon.

2. Spread topping on the rolled out dough.

3. Sprinkle with bacon bits.

4. Roll up the dough and cut into 12 pieces.

Place in greased muffin tin and bake for 18-23 minutes at 400F.

Directions for glaze:

1. Mix all ingredients and stir well.

Once cinnamon rolls are done, let cool then drizzle or thickly coat the rolls with the glaze (up to you; and how much of a sugar rush you'd like).

Hope everyone has had a good day.
