The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was a World War II American fighter aircraft built by Lockheed. Developed to a United States Army Air Corps requirement, the P-38 had distinctive twin booms and a single, central nacelle containing the cockpit and armament. Named "fork-tailed devil" by the Luftwaffe and "two planes, one pilot" by the Japanese, this unique [5] aircraft was used in a number of different roles including dive bombing, level bombing, ground strafing, photo reconnaissance missions,[6] and extensively as a long-range escort fighter when equipped with drop tanks under its wings.
The P-38 was used most successfully in the Pacific Theater of Operations and the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations as the mount of America's top aces, Richard Bong (40 victories) and Thomas McGuire (38 victories). In the South West Pacific theater, the P-38 was the primary long-range fighter of United States Army Air Forces until the appearance of large numbers of P-51D Mustangs toward the end of the war.[7][8]
The P-38 was the only American fighter aircraft in active production throughout the duration of American involvement in the war, from Pearl Harbor to VJ Day.

The .38 Long Colt is a cartridge introduced by Colt's Manufacturing Company in 1875. It is slightly more potent than its predecessor, the .38 Short Colt, or .38 SC. It is also known as simply the .38 LC. The United States Army adopted the .38 Long Colt in 1889 and it remained in service until 1911, when the military adopted the .45 ACP and the M1911 autoloading pistol. The .38 LC develops an anemic muzzle energy (by modern day standards) of 198 ft·lbf (268 J) fpe. These poor ballistics were highlighted during the Philippine Insurrection of 1899-1902. The .38 Special was introduced in 1899 as an improvement over the .38 Long Colt which, as a military service cartridge, was found to have inadequate stopping power against the wooden shields of charging Moros during the Philippine-American War. As an emergency response to the round's unexpectedly dismal performance in the Philippines, the Army re-adopted 1873 Colt "Peacemaker" revolvers. These weapons were chambered for .45 Colt cartridges, which are much more powerful. (Indeed, the ballistic profile of those cartridges would later be emulated by the .45 ACP round.)
Almost unobtainable today, .38 S&W SPL cases may be trimmed 1/8" . Except for its length, the .38 Special case is identical to that of the .38 Long Colt, and to the .357 Magnum which was developed from the earlier cartridge in 1935.

Week 38
Juxtaposition: Street Photography and Motion Blur
I really thought this week's theme was gonna come easy for me, but as it turns out I got stumped after an original idea didn't quite pan out. This is the best I could pull off... from a Rugged Maniac event, that my kick ass wife ran in and completed this afternoon.
There was an insane number of people who gathered, well into the thousands, at this chosen arena and became my city and its streets for the day.

I was diggin' this fiery log jump and caught this view of an event staffer photographing the racers, It seemed like a cool contrast to me with him parked there on his stool as the racers hurried by fanning at their hind quarters. The heat from the fires was also playing neat tricks with air, helping me blur out the action a bit.

2012 is the 100th anniversary of bus route 38, and on Sunday 17th June Arriva marked the occasion by running three Routemasters from its Heritage Fleet as 'extras'. These were also joined by an RTL and RTW from the London Bus Company. No fares were charged on these buses, but passengers were invited to make a donation to Maggie's Cancer Charity. A vintage K-type bus dating from 1921 also traversed the route, carrying invited guests. As three of the 'New Bus 4 London' were also operating, the route attracted a lot of attention.
LT4, the fourth of the 'New Bus 4 London' prototypes, is seen at Islington Angel on its way to Hackney Central - at the moment these buses do not operate to Clapton. Passengers are seen boarding both via the front door and the rear platform; the latter is only for holders of Oyster Cards who must touch-in on the card reader. A second crew member supervises the platform; he/she does not collect fares so is not a conductor in the traditional sense of the word. If this person is not present the rear platform is closed off.

The Panzer 38(t) was originally a light tank developed by Czechoslovakia, but was soon produced by Germany. It's often regarded as the best light tank of the war, but was outclassed by 1942 and production stopped. However, the very capable chassis was used in 1944 for the Jagdpanzer 38(t) tank destroyer and at the base of a wide variety of Waffenträger projects late in the war.
Heavily based off Papobrick's design. :)
he asked me if I have any change to spare.
I said 38 cents.
He said ok and took it.
I then asked him where he was off to.
He responded "the dentist"
Project 2011 / 38 - Old art?
When I pictured this shot I could only remember old paintings with women and dead nature. The scene was fitting and my model was there. But then I decided that I wouldn't have the right focus ...
The result was...this one!

Day 38/365: MINE
The nice thing about this project is it is MINE. I can do whatever I want with it. If my designated assignment doesn't turn out exactly how I would like it to, I can turn it into something different. Something creative, and more me. As you probably guessed, my strangers assignment for today didn't turn out as planned and instead of making something simply mediocre work, I decided on this. This boy happens to be mine as well, and I love him so. Oh, how I love him so.

insieme...
38 anni di sorrisi, di incomprensioni risolte, di difficoltà superate (insieme)... di forza, di determinazione... 38 anni di "ti amo" sussurrati negl'occhi, di comprensione, di accettazione, di tempeste e di sereno, di esserci... di sentirsi... di riuscirci...
38 anni di amore... come pochi!
giorno dopo giorno...
