Not even Google Earth can compare to the visceral experience of a physical globe as a teaching tool.

How clever the warp tool is in photoshop!! And another image that fits 4 of my themes - yes!
Late night shot Im afraid… busy day working, and I forgot about photo until 2200 alarm reminder… I think I need to set that earlier…
My take on Week 3 (can you believe it already) and ROUND - well kinda… in parts
Before the Christmas decorations disappear at the weekend for another year, there is plenty of 'dark green' around the house!
5/100 Macros
Trying to redeem myself from a rather poor effort over the last two days. This was going to be a macro of a vinyl for the 100x theme of music. Well there's always tomorrow.
Today didnt work out as planned...
A quick grab from the iPhone whilst out walking the dog...
I do have to say I love looking at these amazing trees and I'm lucky that the sunsets are behind them - so it's always a treat!!
I've just managed to pass my statistics test, which I am ever so slightly pleased at. To be honest, I wasn't sure I would pass it, and I'm certain that I have learnt less (if that is even possible).
So, after passing, I took a few shots of this guy. There's another view of him available of a t-shirt on Redbubble.
The air is unusually warm for this time of year and as I opened the curtains this morning, opposite was a seagull, taking in the morning sunsrise. I thought it was a special moment so here it is!
Haven't got a lot of things with fringes on them so thought I would do mine! I'm not a great lover of selfies but I can live with this one!

Used the 100mm cannon macro lens for this close-up of pepper seeds.
Both my girls did ballet when they were younger, however they haven't done any ballet for over 15 years but I still have the shoes! I'm not really a hoarder (husband might disagree on that one) but you never know when things will come in handy, and now I am doing a lot more stock photography these things I have been reticent to get rid of may have their part to play!

Taken in my living room. :)
Tomorrow is a long day, so I may try to grab a shot early. So tonight I thought I would go out and try a quick spin with the new fairy lights.
The EL wire was used in a couple of shots for effect, but sadly the wire has come away form the driver after its second use.
I'm trying to make the most of some light painting before it gets too light in the evenings!
Day 12!
First beautiful day of the year!
The weather was perfect for a photo walk. I went out around sunset to try and find something interesting.
I came across this plant and loved the way the sunset looked behind it.

This is what our minivan felt like in some of the strong gusts of wind today. If you are in the storm right now, be careful!
Starting January 1st, 2014, I'll be embarking on my very first 365 project. I've had my Canon 7D now for just over a year. In some ways, I'm happy I held off from starting any sort of high demand project like a 365. The year gave me time to learn my camera, learn what I really want to shoot, and just enjoy it without stress… well, kind of!
I still only have one lens, and I find it's holding me back more and more. f/3.5-5.6 is great for certain things, but much of what I want to delve into now is just not happening with my kit lens. Until I can afford new glass, projects like the 365 will help me find new ways to use the lens and achieve the images I want to create. I keep holding myself back from taking all sorts of photos because I'm my own worst critic, which is another reason I feel a 365 will help me get better. Instead of keeping 99% of my images hidden away on a hard drive, this will force me to post my work whether I like it or not, and hopefully have the Flickr community to help me grow as a creative person.
I've wanted to try a 365 for about a year, but I always found a way to talk myself out of it. This time though, it's a new year, and another chapter into finding ways to express myself. I'll be posting my 365 fully on Flickr, and probably featuring a few of my favourites during 2014 on my Tumblr (my two main hangouts).
Let's hope this goes well.

#2366 - 2014 Day 174: Let's face it, there are not too many runs of days through an English summer where, with exception perhaps of pollen, the climate is so perfectly comfortable. We sent a third consecutive night cooking outdoors.
