Day 337: Part of the new Shock-a-Billy.

Day 335: Tuna Casserole Surprise with the local Christmas decorations.

Day 336: Danger Panda on the way home from the store.

Day 338: Sean stole my bike rode around the pump track with it.

Day 332: New tags in Rosslyn. The paint was dry, but not by much.

For research purposes only: this Wald basket fits TWO 30 packs (or more) of suds perfectly...cans only.

Four six-packs of tasty bottles nestle in there nicely as well.

Three full-size paper grocery bags fit cozily.

Just so you know.

Alger's Party Store, Grosse Pointe, MI.

Day 255: I was so wrong about Albert. He's actually quite snuggly. 9258.63 pounds of CO2 saved so far this year.

(Picture courtesy of Clif Bar) The 2 Mile Challenge Tour is Coming to Carson City on Aug 13th. More details soon on bikecarson.com!

Day 292: Robots on the move with this morning's commute. 11082.72 lbs of CO2 saved so far this year by riding my bike.

that's a new (to me) Schwinn saddlebag, made in England. It looks unused - there are still hanging chads in the straps' buckle-holes. Definitely not as nice as the Carradice. thinner leather, vinyl trim, no cord-lock inside to cinch down the load.

Works great, though!

Day 291: Why ride a cargo bike on a training ride?

Here's the ride: ridewithgps.com/trips/440240

I wouldn't have made it home without the help of Vince and Sean. That was a long day to be on the long bike.

Day 289: Bike Power Nap at the Zero Milestone in front of the White House

Zero Milestone: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero_Milestone

Just out of frame are about 150 tourists from Japan. They were super cool about not intruding on my photo and were very interested in the Dummy. Nice morning ride.

Day 294: Bike Power Nap in a nice snuggly chair. Molly hadn't baptized this one yet. Not sure I'd sit in it after today though. 11160.18 lbs of CO2 saved so far this year.

To complement the 2 Mile Challenge (2MC) viral video, Clif Bar teamed with Cobra Creative to refresh the 2008 2MC website. Along with a redesign, tools were added to get novice and experienced bicycle riders on the road to help reduce CO2 emissions. The Build Your Bike tool inspires riders to assemble their dream bike using a simple drag-and-drop interface and provides a shopping list of accessories along with links to suggested products. The Take the 2 Mile Challenge tool challenges riders to a weekly riding commitment for up to 12 weeks. Each time a 2MC participant logs a weekly ride, his/her name is added to a real time scoreboard with the amount of CO2 saved. To date, over 67,000 lbs of CO2 have not gone into the atmosphere, thanks to 2MC riders.

As part of its commitment to protecting the environment, Clif Bar established the 2 Mile Challenge (2MC) campaign in 2007 to educate individuals on the benefits of pedaling instead of driving for trips of two miles or less. Clif Bar worked with Cobra Creative to concept and produce an informative viral video that includes a series of bite-size facts about the difference individuals can make by riding a bike. The video was distributed on social networking websites and featured on the 2MC tour bus and website. The design of the video was so well received that in 2008, the website and tour bus kiosks were redesigned to match.

This is the spot where I lock the bike. I can see it as I exit the store, and it's in the highest-traffic area. The actual bike rack is in the sketchiest area, and only holds a couple bikes.

Day 281: Ready for some cross training after work tonight.

Day 262: Bike Power Nap in Chris Gardner's sculpture called Cupid's Garden. Rosslyn, Virginia. 9546.32 lbs of CO2 saved so far this year on my bicycle.

Day 288: Long exposure shot near the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. 10912.42 lbs of CO2 saved so far this year by riding my bike.

The light in this area is surreal this time of year. It is hard to capture. The extreme green of the grass when seen just before dawn with the illumination of the fluorescent street lights is really kinda cool. This is the closest I've gotten to capturing the color. Might have to break out the film camera and see how it does.

Day 280: The question I gotta ask is, "Is that a Kahuna Big Stick between my legs or am I just happy to see you?

Academy of Sciences. They had free admissions to the first 100 cyclists on Sunday, 8.22.10, from CLIF BAR as a "Bike to Fight Climate Change" pursuit AKA CLIF BAR 2 Mile Challenge. 40% of U.S. urban travel is less than 2 miles; 90% of those trips are by car. LETS BIKE GUYS!

Also, thank you Andrew for telling me about this!

nothing smashed, squeezed or broken, of course.

Day 254: Napping with my buddy George Mason. I was awakened by a Park Policeman asking "What the hell are you doing?"

9239.77 lbs of CO2 saved so far this year by riding my bicycle.

Day 285: Shopping at Wylie Wagg for lots of good kitteny things.

Day 268: Mile 0 of the Mary Custis trail has been fixed! There used to be a big hole covered up by really lumpy, soft asphalt. It was enough of a hazard that they put orange cones on it to keep people from riding on it.

The new pavement is creamy. It looked so inviting that I decided to take my Bike Power Nap there this morning in honor of the new pavement.

9865.1 lbs of CO2 saved so far this year by riding my bicycle.

6 Bags Goldfish, bag of cereal, tub of feta, 1.18 lbs crimini mushrooms, 6 fuji apples, tub of sour cream, 12 pack of beer, 2 lbs broccoli crowns. Forgot the parmesan cheese.

Eggs, bread, big bag of chips, two pears, half gallon of milk, 0.8 lbs walnut halves, 5 DVDs, one packet popcorn.

Day 274: Bike Power Nap in front of the World Bank. I like this sculpture. With all the people that protest the IMF and World Bank, they need a sculpture that will survive the apocalypse. This is definitely it.

The sculpture is "Around the Void V" by the Spanish sculptor Eduardo Chillida from 1969.

Day 283: People taking the I-66 commuting corridor survey at the Lynn Street Death Zone.

Day 328: Cruising through downtown sporting my new Bikenetic shop jersey.
