i think i'm going to see the bourne legacy tomorrow with D. :) after dropping perks off at J's.
the sky was red tonight and golden yesterday.
We are hopeless
flat and shallow
but there is always
somebody to follow
Because we are
shadows
only shadows
and even though we
still hold on for
tomorrow
We’ll always be just
Republic of two - finally czech band i can be really proud of. i'm in love with their music.

421 exposures was my earthquake star trail, this one exceeded that! This is my largest stacking project to date! A total of 464 images! All of which 30 seconds long. I know, I thought I had gotten past that whole 30 second thing once I got that fancy shutter cable! I know, but the ONE MAJOR thing I have learned this week, when out shooting meteors, you NEED to bust up that ISO and you need to keep the exposure short to do that! That being said, I started off by doing the first 20 or so exposures at ISO 800. Then I saw a meteor, and thought I had it for sure! So, I looked at the image and NO METEOR! Darn! So I busted it to ISO 1000 and hung out side with my lovely 16 year old where we spent some time bonding under the stars past midnight last night. You should have seen the look on her face when off to the horizon, where my camera was NOT pointing, she saw one of those bright ones that exploded at the end! She was calling it the "sparkly, sparkly, boom, boom, meteor! I loved to see her excitement for something that I myself get excited about!
Any way, when I did wake back up again, at 3 am, to go to work, the camera was still clicking and the tripod un shifted, so in the end, I have one complete star trail that is far more impressive then any other I have ever done before! I think so any way. I love the heavy concentration of stars to the right of the north star. That would be the MIlky Way! There are about 4 shooting stars in this collective image, more if you count the ones that the sensor did not pick up! :D The most noticeable meteor would be the one below the north star. At the end of the night, oh, I guess I should say morning, I was glad I pulled an almost all nighter to spend time with my daughter, see some shooting stars and get what I think really is my longest and most impressive star trail yet! I guess thats what I get for pulling out the ISO 1000! And the lens did not fog over, that helped A LOT! I am sure glad you have a chance to take a look, feel free to leave any comments or what not! Please visit my blog if want to know how I do stacking images like this, I have a post called "why stack" and I give the entire 411 of how I do this. I am not a pro, but with my passion, I think I fit in! :) Please enjoy!
Geek talk:
As said above, this is a total of 464 images. All of which are f/3.5 @10mm, 30 seconds, and most of which are 1000 ISO. The first 10 to 20 are ISO 800 as I was getting more comfortable with the idea of PUSHING IT! (232 minutes) Not including the one second break between each exposure. So, it really was, shooting time start to finish, almost 4.5 hours.
I really really love how this turned out! out takes will be on tumblr in a few
but it's hard to keep glued on sequins on your face in this florida heat!

Sometimes you hear a quote or a saying and it strikes a cord. It can be something you innately knew all along but never really came to realize it until it was actually spoken out loud or read in a book. One of my favorite sayings is, "Opportunity does not occur by chance but by choice".
I wholeheartedly believe this. To me the definition of an opportunity arising is that you have the chance in front of you to make a choice. But if you let that choice slip, will you remember this event as anything more than a forgotten opportunity? Unless you consciously make a choice to take advantage, to take a chance, you will never get to realize that opportunity.
I'm glad that we took a chance and are not letting it be a forgotten opportunity. While there is no certainty that it will be everything great that we hope for, it will still be worth it in the end. That and I have a good feeling that it will be even better :)
