Six days, four states, 2200 miles, three 16GB SD cards, over a thousand images, and I'm starting my posts with the last location my buddy Steve and I visited -- Lower Antelope Canyon, after our other two friends, Ian and Sam had already left for home -- their loss.

I've taken the Upper Canyon tour, but for the money, the light, the formations, and the relaxed pace one can take to explore and compose shots, the Lower Canyon beats the upper hands down, if you're a photographer.

No contest. Not even close. No huge crowds, no dusty open tour vehicle, no guide throwing sand up into the sun beams, and getting into the nooks and crannies of your camera.

If you have a tripod and an SLR, you get to take the Photographer's tour, which means you don't have to go with a group. You can move through at your own pace, as long as you don't take longer than two hours, which is doable.

It's also a lot more photogenic in my opinion, and a little harder to navigate than UAC. You enter from the top of the canyon, on a sturdy metal ladder. Actually, there are a few ladders through the canyon, and a couple of them are pretty steep. I think its narrower in spots, too, so its not for everyone.

I could have easily stayed longer than two hours.

I just received my order of my new graphics card (and stronger PSU to power it).

After 8 long years of graphics card being too stupidly expensive I finally had a bit of spare cash to buy a new one. It's about damn time.

While my GTX 1060 6GB was trucking on well throughout the years, it does start to show its age by now and the VRAM is just not enough anymore.

Some games are starting to exceed that amount and Second Life is only going to become more memory-hungry with the larger textures as well.

I had also lost the ability to run 2 SL viewers at the same time after the PBR update, having turned into an unusual slideshow when I would launch a second instance.

Hopefully the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB will chew through 2 PBR viewers without much trouble.

I would have considered getting an AMD card instead, due to how Nvidia has been like in recent years, but sadly the power draw of the AMD equivalent would have been significantly higher, and at 39 cents per kWh, that matters for me when it's going to run for years to come.

And the RTX 4070, while around 30% faster, has only 12GB VRAM and as easily as I've been running out of 6GB with my use cases, I did not want to run into more memory shortage again any time soon, such as when I running 2 SL viewers and a large video file on the side.

I'm posting this before the upgrade, so I'll have to test things later. Fingers crossed.

Time to take apart my tower to replace the GPU, PSU and do cable management again.

My new iPhone 3GS which I picked up from the Apple Store in Birmingham yesterday. It's shiny, and very fast too. It's also a massive fingerprint magnet. I posted a sortof review type blog post thingy here: here.

Also, these aren't the best photos, so if you want to see some better shots, look here. That's the older iPhone 3G, however both the 3G and 3GS are identical on the outside which are almost identical, other then the text - the 3GS has chrome lettering, and the 3G does not.

I got my loot, the new IPHONE yesterday morning. The very last one of the six new 16GB 3G phones the AT&T store had yesterday morning. Oh hand stock was far more limited then the initial IPHONE release 13 months ago.

We were some of the first people to arrive. The line was over 100 people by the time the Palm Springs AT&T store opened at 8am. I got in the newspaper for standing in line and received my amazing IPHONE 3G. This thing is fast and what you can do with it is out of this world. The connection is almost fast as WIFI and the applications are amazing. I demonstrate a racing game with sharp realistic 3D graphics as good as a some of the most advanced handhelds out there like the DS or the PSP using motion tilt to control rather than buttons, the weather radar function, and the world wide access to internet radio anytime anywhere where I can access my favorite desi hits.

These are just a few of the hundreds of amazing functions out there that no other phone offers anywhere in the world.

Well worth the wait, and every bit better than even than it was hyped up to be.

This is my 2015 Skylake machine and it still ran fine except for Lightroom Classic's 'Enhance' / denoise feature or the masking functions. Topaz PhotoAI, -Gigapixel and -VideoAI also ran slow.

I wanted to build a new machine and have been eyeing new components for months but the prices of the CPU and MB just won't come down. Then they release this 180W RTX 5060 Ti 16GB with an 8-pin connector which would be a 1:1 swap with my old GTX 1060. Mnnnnn... lets try this!

Performance now? Beautiful. Lightroom and Topaz run like a dream. RTX Super Resolution on Chrome and MPC-HC. Ultra quiet. I can run this machine for a couple more years.
