Awesome winter wonderland up on Mount Seymour, one of our local ski hills. The atmospheric conditions swung from foggy to sunny and back again to fog in a matter of minutes. Seven minutes into the 20 minute drive back down to the coast, it was dry with no sign of snow:-)

Mount Seymour is a mountain located in Mount Seymour Provincial Park in the District of North Vancouver, British Columbia. It is a part of the North Shore Mountains, rising to the north from the shores of Burrard Inlet and Indian Arm to a summit of 1,449 m (4,754 ft) above the Indian River and Deep Cove neighbourhoods. Mount Seymour is most commonly identified for its ski area of the same name, and as a popular hiking area. It is named in honour of Frederick Seymour, second governor of the Colony of British Columbia. The name is used to refer to the ridge although the main summit is one of several, and is also known as Third Pump Peak.

Es schneit ... und zwar richtig! Die letzten 2 Tage fast durchgehend und das ist auch der Grund warum heute das gesamte Dorf in den Hotels bleiben musste. Durch den starken Schneefall und die daraus entstehende Lawinengefahr sind nämlich die Lifte heute aus geblieben. Deswegen gammeln wir den ganzen Tag im Hotel rum und warten auf Morgen. Hoffentlich legt sich bis dahin das Wetter etwas, vorausgesagt, sind jedoch gleichbleibende Wetterverhältnisse :(. Mal sehen was das gibt.

We spent some time waiting about Port Campbell and the area around. I was hanging out for sunset at this location. The 12 Apostles are a definite landmark of Australia. They have been shot over and over for good reasons. This was towards the end of sunset. When nearly all had gone already - those suckers.
I stood in this spot for 30 minutes next to another Nikon shooter - he with his big D800 and 85mm lens doing panos. I was forced to use my 35mm lens on the D7000 (my wide angle had gone kaput). It was strange doing a pano but strangley, it was very rewarding having to do things outside the box. This is a 4 shot panorama that was stitched in Autopano Pro and edited the usual way.

I think it well worth the effort to view large on black
I got a new photography book yesterday and read through the first couple of chapters - it was like a lightbulb switched on in my head! So I switched my camera to fully manual and headed down to somewhere photogenic - St Mary's lighthouse. Now I just need to master photoshop (and get photoshop!) and I'll be sorted. This is what I love about photography - there's always something new to learn and, when you learn it, it opens up a whole new way to capture the world.
