A recent personal study into the nature of remorse and regret that leads a Christian believer to repent of a particular behavior happened to coincide with the announcement of a FaceBook group's theme on men. This image was in process at the time of both the study and the group challenge, so I offered it there (and on Instagram and Flickr) as an entry to demonstrate that both remorse and repentance are real aspects of authentic manhood and character. C.S. Lewis noted that, “Repentance means unlearning all the self-conceit and self-will that we have been training ourselves into... It means killing part of yourself, undergoing a kind of death.”

Today's Net Flicks upload sees:

Preserved former US Air Force North American CT-39A Sabreliner 62-4465 on display at March AFB, California, October 1996

Designed in the military role in answer to the need for a Utility Trainer, the design also became a successful executive jet that NA offered in a number of variants and by Rockwell which it later became.

Others such as Raisbeck Engineering designed a super-critical wing which was employed by Rockwell on later Models and retro-fitted to some earlier ones too

Sabreliners were used by both the USAF and US Navy in a variety of roles including:

VIP, Training and Medivac, Cargo and Personnel transport with other Nations including Sweden, Argentina, Boliva, Equador and Mexico also operating the type

F-BGNR, Vickers V708 Viscount (CN 35) of Air Service Training seen at Perth Scone aerodrome on 26 August 1981. Originally delivered to Air France in June 1954, November Romeo moved to Air Inter in February 1962. Retired in October 1973 the aircraft was purchased by Air Service Training as an instructional airframe flown to their Scone Aerodrome, Perth, Scotland base and was maintained outdoors thereafter. Hangared in 1988 to prevent further deterioration the aircraft was sold to Skysport Engineering in a protracted deal completed in December 1996, the aircraft being dismantled and moved to Thorncote Green Bedfordshire in January 1997. Plans to use the aircraft as a meeting space did not come to fruition and in 2007 November Romeo was sold to the Viscount 35 Association who planned to restore her to ground running condition. Once the scale of the task was realised the aircraft was sold on to the Midland Air Museum at Coventry Baginton Airport Warwickshire, England, where she resides to this day - back outdoors. Weathered WW-II Era Building, Naval Net Depot, Tiburon, California, USA

I (this photographer) came weekly to the Net Depot for Naval Reserve meetings, 1958-59.

Some Net Depot History from The California State Military Museum :

In 1904 the U.S. Navy acquired the property to use as a coaling station. Coal for the Navy’s ships was shipped from the East Coast in colliers (like tankers today) and stored here to be loaded into the bunkers of the Pacific Fleet. A very elaborate system of storage bunkers and gantry cranes was constructed on a wharf-trestle. In 1908 Teddy Roosevelt’s Great White Fleet, consisting of sixteen battleships plus support vessels, stopped by to refuel before continuing on its famous round the world cruise.

The first academic use of the cove came in 1931. Oil had replaced coal as a fuel for Navy ships and the coaling station closed. The Navy loaned the property to the State of California to establish its first nautical training school for Merchant Marine officers. The Nautical School (renamed the California Maritime Academy) relocated to Vallejo in 1940 as World War II loomed and the Navy took back the base.

Also during the 1930s the John A Roebling’s Sons Company used the base to spin the suspender cables for the Golden Gate Bridge. These are the vertical cables which hold up the roadway on the bridge. The steel wire was shipped from the East Coast to Tiburon, wound and reeled, then barged to the bridge to be hoisted up to the roadway.

Local people still often call it “The Net Depot” much to the discomfort of the current owners. San Francisco Bay was one big Navy base as World War II loomed closer. It would have been wide open to Japanese submarines except for an anti-submarine net constructed at the Tiburon base and stretched across the Golden Gate. This seven mile long net was in place on December 7, 1941. The personnel of the Net Depot not only constructed over 100,000 tons of anti-submarine netting during the war but trained the sailors in the installation and handling of these nets which protected the harbors up and down the Pacific Coast of the U.S. and across the Pacific as well. The huge gantries left over from the coaling station were perfect for handling the giant nets.

After the war the nets were recovered and returned to Tiburon for storage in case of future need. Eventually, they were salvaged, the nets went to scrap dealers, the massive concrete anchors became bulkheads for shoreline protection at the depot and what is now Paradise Park, and many of the huge floats became beehives around California. The gantries were removed, leaving only the tracks on which they ran and a concrete trestle down the center of the base.

Since 1961 the property has supported a number of marine oriented state and federal research facilities, often two or more at the same time. Among these were the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), The Marine Minerals Technology Center, the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), NMFS Southwest Fisheries Center, National Marine Fisheries Service Environmental Assessment Branch (EAB), and since 1978, San Francisco State University’s Center for Environmental Studies (TCES). It was established by the late Paul F. Romberg, then President of SFSU, and later named in his memory.

White marble plaque probably from the monument of a gladiator contest sponsor. The relief frieze depicts three pairs of gladiators engaged in a training activity.

To left, two similarly heavily armed gladiators. They have large oval shields, and wear a “subligaculum”, loincloth, with a single band belt. Their helmets with raised and curved edges doesn't have crest; a visor with an opening for the eyes protect their face.

The central pair represent two “thraeces” or Thracian gladiators with their typical curved drag.

To right, a “retiarius” with trident and net, training against, probably according to his heavy armature, a “murmillo”.

Storms were to develop early afternoon but the dry line stalled. Late afternoon into mid evening the dry line pushed just to the west of our location.

With unusually humid conditions for this time of year in South Central Nebraska, this produced the perfect conditions for supercells to develop just to the southwest & west of Kearney Nebraska.

Rarely do we get to see the full development from nothing to a full fledged supercell and this one had fast development resulting in some of my best storm photography for 2012

ESA astronaut Matthias Maurer practices Space Station repairs in the Neutral Buoyancy Lab at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, USA.

The giant pool is over 12 metres deep and features a full-scale mock-up of the International Space Station. It is used to train astronauts in the very precise and difficult task of making repairs or installing new equipment in the vacuum of space.

To simulate microgravity underwater, astronauts are weighted down to minimise the buoyant force that would otherwise have them bopping back up to the surface. They must also work very slowly to compensate for the drag caused by water.

It’s about as fun as falling in water fully dressed and pulling out your laptop to start working. But someone has got to do it.

Extravehicular activity or EVA training is standard across the astronaut experience, beginning at the candidate level and continuing before and after a spaceflight.

Additionally, astronauts take on a slew of other hands on activities and simulations. Matthias is in Bordeaux, France, today for the latest parabolic flight campaign. From medical training to orbital mechanics and computer engineering, astronauts have a busy schedule.

Becoming an astronaut involves a cutthroat selection process for an exciting job. But it’s not without its risks. Human spaceflight today has evolved into a standard and safe job, thanks to the sacrifice of courageous individuals over the years. Without their contributions, humans would not be the space faring species we have become today.

In celebration the beginning of the space era, the UN has designated 12 April as International Day of Human Spaceflight, more popularly known as Yuri’s Night. Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was the first human to fly to space on 12 April 1961, a historic event in human history.

Events are held across the globe in celebration of Yuri’s Night. Find one near you and join the world’s largest space party celebrating human achievement beyond Earth’s atmosphere.

And if you happen to meet an astronaut, show them some love. They don’t always have it easy.

High Praise for Dr. Justin Lehmiller! Our 2018-2019 Speaker for Sexual Health Alliance! syndicated from spanishflyhealth.wordpress.com/

European universities games 2016 Zagreb Rijeka - beach volleyball woman tournament at Jarun lake in Zagreb

A perfect day for kite training at the North Coast of Sealand in Denmark. The small holiday village Gilleleje offer grass and sand at the beaches right in the city center.

More from the net of Gilleleje in Denmark.

Gilleleje lies in Gribskov Municipality, at Sealand's northernmost point, Gilbjerghoved. The town has preserved many of the idyllic cosy streets and thatched houses built when it was a fishing village. Gilleleje is a lively tourist, commercial and fishing town. Its heart is the fishing port, Sealand's largest.

In honor of spring training and longing for warmer weather.

Major League Baseball holds is its spring training from mid-February until opening day of the regular season in April. The teams go to either Florida or Arizona for spring training. It’s called the Cactus League in Arizona and the Grapefruit league in Florida. My photograph this week is of a baseball and two grapefruits in reference to the Florida Grapefruit League. (The background between the baseball and front grapefruit is also a grapefruit.) The baseball I used is one that was fouled into the stadium over the net at a Rome Braves Minor League game in Rome, GA. We were driving to Florida from Ohio on vacation a few years ago and stopped in Rome overnight. We were sitting behind home plate and the ball was fouled into the section next to us. There was no one in that section and my nephew ran over to get the ball and gave it to my son.

Lit with two 30W bulbs. One to camera left behind the baseball and the other front to camera right aimed toward the baseball. HMM!

A training session for this gorgeous couple. I hope you like the results.

Thank you all for your appreciation.

Meanwhile the rest of the world is rehearsing its vaporizing the United States.

The most colossal failure of Trump’s America has to be a tie between the environment and the U.S. on the international state. Trump must be kept out of war or America will receive the mother of all global smackdowns. But, destruction of the US is, after all, what the Republicans are all about.

Training over the Ottawa River last year in March with some nice photo opportunities. It's nice to go back to these old shots and try out new editing methods and not the usual boring ones for ANET or JP.Net.

Training for the fast appoaching cross country season. We are blessed to have some beautiful trails just outside our neighborhood to train on. But It has been raining every day for over a week now. The temperatures have been good for running, if you can stand the rain and humidity hovering just under 100%. It actually doesn't matter if it's raining or not because any sweat just sticks instead of evaporating, with the same net effect.

Title says it all, folks. The usual players are offering these deals:
