Again I was really inspired about the reflections of the treeline and the morning mist.

I really liked the way how the forest blended to the background fog, by letting me to see only hint of the farthest trees.

Roe deer buck in the light of the midnight summer sun.

The sea was melting. Ice was still hard enough to walk, but partially covered by water.

I wanted to take tree (common alder) with beach stones as main subject of picture, and melting sea at background.


The location is Porkkala peninsula, apr.50 km east from Helsinki, Finland.


Taken on 3rd April 2005.

This was taken about 15 minutes after the sun begun to rise above the distant horizon.

The lake was covered by mist layer and quickly the sun went behind the clouds.


It was a great moment. I really forgot my migraine and the coldness of the late summer morning.

This year the sea is icing early. I don't remember seeing this before on November.


It was cold, the ground glass of my 4x5 field camera froze up after first breath under the focusing cloth and I had to scratch small holes on ice to see anything.

Bentenjima island, Arasaki.



The great Daibutsu (大仏) of Kamakura (鎌倉). Kōtoku-in Temple. (高徳院).


The statue stands at 13.35 meters high and weighs approximately 93 tons.

It was build 1252 using bronze and it's hollow - you can go inside of the statue.

Originally there was hall surrounding it, but it was destroyed by the tsunami year 1495.
