After touring Cluny and its surroundings by coach, we ended the day with a 3 hour sail down the river Saône to Lyon from Trévoux, where we caught up with the Swiss Emerald, sailing ahead with its crew from Mâcon. Trévoux, a suburb of Lyon, is located on the left bank of the Saône about 20 miles to the north.

Semi-tame group of swans: in Austria I know of no real 'wild' populations of C. olor; rather than fleeing when they see humans those came even closer, even though I found deep in the national park forests: as if they were expecting that I feed them.

out at great meadows i caught these two quietly (they're "mute" swans after all) pullin' up the reeds. there were 4 pairs of swans out there this day. you can see one swimmin' off in the upper left. pretty much had the place to myself. well, me and the birds, of course. and a muskrat or 2.
