Could you be loved and be loved?

Could you be loved and be loved?

Don't let them fool ya,

Or even try to school ya! Oh, no!

We've got a mind of our own,

So go to hell if what you're thinking is not right!

Love would never leave us alone,

A-yin the darkness there must come out to light.

Went into Sydney City this morning before work to grab a sunrise shot. I LOVE THIS CITY!! So quiet and peaceful in there this morning, on my own shooting the cityscape. Love it. Hope you like " Could You Be Loved". Mike

Loving you is a like a song I replay

Every three minutes and thirty seconds of every day

And every was written for us to recite

Every beautiful melody of devotion every night

It's potion like this ocean that might carry me

In a wave of emotion to ask you to marry me

And every word, every second, and every third

Expresses the happiness more clearly than ever heard

And when I play them, every chord is a poem

Telling the Lord how grateful I am cause I know him

The harmonies possess a sensation similar to your caress

If you asking then I'm telling you it's yes

Stand in love, take my hand in love, Jah bless

I want to give you some good, good loving

So, I decided to add another one tonight from Jamaica. I couldn't get over how beautiful the water was there. I haven't been home for a full 24 hours and I already want to go back.

As we arrive at the end of another year, its fair to ask if we have more love in the world now, than we had this time 365 days ago. Some dictators have gone from this world or dissapeared from view and some new ones are exerting their will. Please make it your business to spread some love this year.

Best wishes for 2012 for you, your family and photography. I look forward to seeing everyones new creations.

My final post this year is this one from the late and missed man who spread Jamaican music, much love and the Rastafari movement to the world. He left us in 1981, hopefully we got more love around the world than 30 years ago. Something to consider when you toast in the New Year.

"Could You Be Loved" is a song by Bob Marley & The Wailers. It was released in 1980 on their last album Uprising and is included on Bob Marley & The Wailers greatest hits album Legend. It was written in 1979 on an airplane while The Wailers were experimenting on guitar.

In the middle of the song, background singers quote a verse from Bob Marley's first single Judge Not: "The road of life is rocky; And you may stumble too. So while you point a finger, someone else is judging you"

Some of The Wailers most notable songs were recorded with Lee "Scratch" Perry and his studio band The Upsetters. During the early 1970s The Upsetters members Aston "Family Man" Barrett and his brother Carlton (Carlie) Barrett, formed the Wailers Band, providing instrumental backing for The Wailers.

The Wailers recorded groundbreaking reggae songs such as "Simmer Down", "Trenchtown Rock", "Nice Time", "War", "Stir It Up" and "Get Up, Stand Up".

The Wailers disbanded in 1974 due to Tosh and Livingston's refusal to tour. Bob Marley formed Bob Marley & The Wailers with Bob Marley himself as guitarist, songwriter and main singer, the Wailers Band as the backing band, and the I Threes as backup vocalists.

The Wailers Band included the brothers Carlton Barrett and "Family Man" Barrett on drums and bass respectively, Junior Marvin and Al Anderson playing lead guitar, Tyrone Downie and Earl "Wya" Lindo playing keyboard, and Alvin "Seeco" Patterson playing percussion. The I Threes, consisted of Bob Marley's wife Rita Marley, Judy Mowatt and Marcia Griffiths.

Bob Marley & The Wailers, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer all enjoyed considerable success as reggae music continued to gain popularity during the 1970s and 1980s.

Several of the group's members have died subsequent to Marley's death in 1981: Carlton Barrett and Tosh in 1987, Braithwaite in 1999, and Smith in 2008. Bunny Wailer and Beverley Kelso are the only surviving members of the group's original line-up.

Música recomendada: "Work". Bob Marley.

Those who know me well in Flickr will recognize this place and possibly be saying "put it away already". :-) Well, sorry to throw up another version, but I've not able to travel far these days and to be honest this is by far the most beautiful view in my neighbourhood (my opinion of course).

Our Daily Challenge: Above the Rest

the geek behind the curtain: all photos and layers i n this assemblage were taken and developed by myself.

4 photos ... lots of layers. this started out as a slightly blurry crow from a neighborhood walk and a shot of our daughter E goofing off a bit at a museum and then K said "hey, don't toss out the crow, you could put its wings on E or something." so ... this.

the background room is a shot from a local public center. the shot of it i had was only half the room, so after cloning out the light switches and things hanging on the walls, i copied and flipped it to make a "whole" room. stretched and elongated it, then made an extra layer for the ripple.

the hardest part was E's hair. she was laying on a black thin museum "couch" (?), and that made it really easy to cut her body away from the background, but her black hair totally blended right in. so, this hair is from a separate shot. even then it took 3 tries using the extract filter (for the first time) before i gave up on that learning curve and spent half an hour slowly selecting what i wanted and then copy-pasting it here.

after adding the wings onto her i selected her, copied and made a new layer, colored it black, dropped the opacity, added some ripple, and that made the shadow.

her legs and feet were blurred and darkened along with blurring along the bottom of the wing to give a slight sense of movement -- it just seemed too crisp and well lit otherwise. plus, i think it draws the attention up to the face more this way.

the texture layer is a shot of a construction site, tire treads on sand, the size of a parking lot.

Mount Rainier National Park, Washington

After 4 days at the park, the light show finally arrived and it was quite a show. I've seen many flower shots from Rainier and I thought it's a good time to show what I got. Not really a shot as good as the others, but I thought I could share. Thanks for looking.

"Buffalo Soldier"/Bob Marley

Buffalo soldier, dreadlock rasta:

There was a buffalo soldier in the heart of america,

Stolen from africa, brought to america,

Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival.

I mean it, when I analyze these things

To me it makes a lot of sense:

How the dreadlock rasta was the buffalo soldier,

And he was taken from africa, brought to america,

Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival.

Said he was a buffalo soldier, dreadlock rasta

Buffalo soldier in the heart of america.

If you know your history,

Then you would know where you coming from,

Then you wouldn't have to ask me,

Who the 'eck do I think I am.

I'm just a buffalo soldier in the heart of america,

Stolen from africa, brought to america,

Said he was fighting on arrival, fighting for survival;

Said he was a buffalo soldier win the war for america.

Said he was a, woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,(4)

Buffalo soldier troddin' through the land, wo-ho-ooh!

Take him on a ranch, then make him wanna hand,

Troddin' through the land, yea-hea, yea-ea.

Said he was a buffalo soldier win the war for america;

Buffalo soldier, dreadlock rasta,

Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival;

Driven from the mainland to the heart of the caribbean.

Saying, woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,(4)

Troddin' through san juan in the arms of america;

Troddin' through jamaica, a buffalo soldier-

Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival:

Buffalo soldier, dreadlock rasta.

Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy...)

Hoy un recuerdo enorme a nuestro amigo Mimo (Jeremias),que nos dejó hace un año.

I photographed this young man (Paulus Kambinda) last saturday, his home had burnt down recently, possibly by jealous people he told me, and had lost everything including the items he saved for

his parents. What struck me about him was his smile and

forgiving philosophy. He was positive and compassionate. I was amazed and reminded of Bob Marley's dying words to his son Ziggy Marley "Money can't buy life"
