Nantgarw colliery & coke works 1984

This nice Kodachrome slide was given to me by a colleague when he retired, He used it for his coal lectures that I took over from him. its taken north of Taffs Well looking north up the Taff valley towards Pontypridd on a lovely clear day in 1984.

its now a very interesting historical shot well worth 30 minuites of digital processing to restore. Nantgarw colliery and coke works closed on 7th November 1986, the site is now demolished and is now an estate with a cinema. In the centre is Treforest Estate built post war to bring employment to the valleys. The old Cardiff Railway on the right upto the to the works is now a the "Taff Trail" cycle track. The Taff Vale Railway on the left is still extant.

In the Spring i will try and reproduce this shot today.
