Wisconsin State Capitol

A statue of Hans Christian Heg in front of the capitol; he was a native of Norway who served as a colonel with the Wisconsin volunteers in the Civil War.

 

UPDATE: this statue was pulled down and destroyed by anti-racists protesters on June 23, 2020 who were apparently ignorant of the fact that Heg was an abolitionist and anti-slavery activist who died fighting for the Union in the Civil War.
