237,962 Beads!
Started in January of 2011.
Almost exactly 8 months from the beginning of my Pokemon journey to the end! The first Pokemon (bead) master! I believe I am the first person in the world to have made a complete set of full color first generation Pokemon.
My goal was to make the first ever full set of full size Pokemon and to have the best quality set, even set against other people's collections in the future. I believe that goal is accomplished!
Front page of r/gaming, r/pokemon and r/beadsprites all at once! Flawless victory!
237,962 Beads used!
Not including clear beads, or beads used to re-make a sprite. Imagine placing a bead with your fingers. Now imagine doing that almost a quarter million more times. Yeah.
Consider each sprite for sale, if you're interested! If it's already been sold, I can make another!
Descriptions are not quite finished yet, so stay a while and listen!
Most pictures are taken with a pen there as a reference to scale, but you can also measure by counting beads across. Every 61 beads is 12 inches.
I did my best to try to pick colors closest to those use in the game's sprites, but because beads don't come in as many colors as pixels, some may not be "perfect".
You may notice that most Pokemon are facing to the left (their right), and in the cases where their bodies are not, their focus is. Those familiar with the games will remember when you encounter a Pokemon, the screen shows your player and Pokemon on the bottom left and the encountered Pokemon on the top right. This is always the case, so the Pokemon are facing the direction your character's sprite would be.
If you're thinking about doing a set, don't forget about MissingNo.!
Huge thanks to Bulbapedia and The Spriter's Resource for sprites and Pokemon trivia!
