This is The End, beautiful friend. 2nd January 1982.
55022 ROYAL SCOTS GREY moves slowly out of King's Cross station for the last time in BR service as hundreds of onlookers pay their last respects.
The locomotive had arrived earlier with the return leg of 1F50, the "Deltic Scotsman Farewell" and the train would mark the passing of these legendary machines in BR service.
Upon it's arrival, enthusiasts, rail passengers and an ITN film crew all mobbed the locomotive until eventually 55022 slowly edged out of the station and into history.
