In the shadow

This is a stitched panoramic shot, made out of nine (3x3) shots made with Canon 50D and 135mm f2.0L lens. This is the first time I do stitching to achieve very shallow depth of field (DoF). To get the same shallow DoF with a single lens, I'd need a medium format camera (with sensor 1.6x larger than a full frame sensor, or 2.5x larger then my crop camera). Or if I used my crop camera with a single lens, I'd need a 54mm f/0.8 lens - which don't exist. Finally, the same shot could be made with a full frame camera with 85mm f/1.2 lens.

To stitch, I used a great (free) program hugin - it did a much better job than Photoshop CS5. For example, it nicely fixed all the differences in light of the shots (because of passing clouds etc.).
