Macro selfie (or Solar eclipse in the eye)

This is about as a close selfie as one can get! It was quite challenging technically. I used a 1.5:1 macro lens (70-200 f4 lens at 100mm + three extension tubes with electric wiring for AF and aperture control), at the distance ~10cm from my eye. I put my largest studio light (60" octagon softbox) behind the camera, with a speedlight used at full power. I used aperture f8, which gave me enough of DoF (barely) and resulted in a reasonably sharp image. In PP, I removed the reflection from the light and the camera inside my pupil.
The hardest part was to get the focus right. AF is almost useless at such high magnifications. It took me probably around 100 attempts to get it more or less right.
Looks like a solar eclipse in the eye!
HSS everyone!
