    That's make me laugh a lot...
    That's remember me an old swiss TV spot for learning English with two grandparents with their grand-daughter in a car and the grand parents sing the song on the radio "i want f*ck in the ass" with a lot of joy (coz they don't understand wath they sing..)

    Now a photographer or artist isolates a subject and at least some elements from it to begin with in two immediate ways -- by selecting his subject to begin with; that is by leaving out or cropping out things surrounding the subject that are irrelevant or unattractive, and thus saying essentially "This is what I want you to look at", and by "reducing" a whole experience or whole perception of something to just its visual aspects.
